Ria is still getting past the fact that her best friend Livvy is dead, and that too by drug overdose. As much as she has tried to convince everyone that Livvy was not someone who would take drugs no one is believing her.
When she returns from her break, she finds a new flatmate called Amanda – she seems to be the replacement that her company decided to bring in after Livvy passed away. Amanda is a dodgy character from the start – she has different personalities depending on who is around her!
Ria just wants to prove this to everyone by Amanda seems to be one step ahead always.
Eerie, creepy – this was a great book

Another great read by this clever writer. I totally feel I know her characters and this book is no different. It’s one of those stories that sets off at pace and keeps you enthralled. I have to admit I was cringing at certain parts (in a good way!) and you’ll understand when you read it. I bought this for my mum for Mother’s Day. 5/5.

So gripping and I was bursting to know who was playing games with her. So much so that I was tempted to read ahead to find out but I have never done that so I preserved and read the whole book in one sitting. It was so deliciously good.

This was a book that had me gripped from the first page and one that I couldn’t put down. Ria has had a breakdown after the death of her best friend and work colleague Livvy and has taken five months off work. She had to go back to live with her mum but after arguing with her and having money problems she has decided that it’s time to go back to her job and the company flat she lives in. Livvy had been found dead in the toilet at a work function supposedly from a drug overdose. Ria knows that her friend would never have taken drugs and is still wanting to discover the truth. On her return to work she finds that she h. as a new flatmate Amanda aapthat she has also taken over Livvy’s old job. Ria somehow finds herself suspicious of Amanda. Things turn worse when she starts receiving phone calls and texts from someone pretending to be Livvy. She believes that Amanda is behind all this and is more determined to discover who was responsible for Livvy’s death. I had not read any of Gemma Roger’s books before I will certainly be reading them now. A big five stars from me.

THE FLATMATE was an interesting read with a great premise. Really enjoyed the plot at first and the quick-moving chapters and storyline. There wasn’t much, if any, if a twist though - the story was straightforward and not too surprising. I enjoyed the book but probably wouldn’t seek out another from this author.

Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read and review THE FLATMATE.

I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.

So much drama, thrills, twists, and turns. This book will keep you guessing until the crescendo at the end.

This lady Gemma Rogers certainly knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat. At times of reading this, I felt a shiver down my spine, not through fear but because it felt that the story was so real that's how much it draws you in.

The story revolves around Ria who returns to work after taking a sabbatical after her best friend died on the toilet floor of a club on a night out. Ria doesn't feel it was an accident but that somebody killed her.

Fab book, loved reading every page.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this excellent book. xx

Story of a roommate and connections to a drug induced death. I read this one to the end but it seemed far fetched, and not great. I skimmed a lot.

Ria is still reeling after the tragic death of her best friend, Livvy. Even a 5-month sabbatical was not enough. But Ria needs money and when she returns to her flat, she finds Amanda Dowd. Livvy's replacement at work will be her new roommate. Uncomfortable much? Very, very uncomfortable. Plus, Ria’s ex-Jayden, seems to be very chummy with Amanda. Messy.

Returning to work, Ria learns that some things have changed and while coping with her new work partner, she begins to receive calls, packages and photos, things take a turn for the worse. Who is behind this? Why are they targeting her? Hasn't Ria been through enough?

What a fantastic read this book was. This one was a shocking and hard to put down page turner! I was invested from the very beginning and enjoyed the drama and tension in this book. There are no dull moments or down time in this book. This is just what I needed! I loved every sinister, creepy, addictive minute of this fast-paced psychological thriller.

This was an entertaining fast paced thriller. The ending was action packed and so intense.

This is my first book by Gemma Rogers and I'm definitely looking forward to reading more by her.

This was a quick and entertaining read. If a little predictable. I've read a few of The authors other books which had truly surprising twists. This one was just not up to her usual with the surprise factor. Though she did build the story up nicely with unease as creepy things kept happening. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for making this available. Rounding up to 2. 5 stars.

Ria has been on sabbatical after the death of her best friend Livvy after an apparent drugs related accident. Now she has run out of money and argued with her mum so is forced to return to her home and job. But she finds a new flatmate who has also taken Livvy's job. Is Ria too sensitive or does Amanda have a dark motive?
The Flatmate is a psychological thriller set in the UK.
Ria had been through a tough few months following the accidental death of her friend Livvy. But Ria can't believe that Livvy would have taken the drugs that led to her death and this raises suspicions about who could have been responsible. Ria went off the rails making extreme accusations and was sent on leave to recover her mental health. Now she is back and finds another woman living in her flat. Amanda seems ok but Ria doesn't trust her at all. Amanda has Livvy's old job and is interested in Ria's ex. Are Ria's concerns real or is she projecting her own fears and neuroses?
The book is written from the first person perspective of Ria. However the opening chapter shows us Livvy's death which is hugely emotive to read and there are then later chapters that show scenes from Livvy's life. We are aligned with Ria's view while she struggles to adapt to life back home as well as grieving for her friend.
Sinister things begin to happen when she returns to the flat. She receives phone calls from Livvy and a bouquet of black roses. There is plenty of tension and mystery as the plot progresses and Ria becomes more suspicious of Amanda. I enjoyed the twists as Ria makes discoveries and endures upsetting reminders of Livvy.
The Flatmate is a tense and mysterious psychological thriller.

This was a really fun and entertaining thriller! Whilst a little repetitive at times, I was still thoroughly invested in the storyline and eager to see how it would end. The protagonist’s decision making left a lot to be desired in my opinion, but I was able to put that aside for the sake of a twisty and suspenseful plot that kept me guessing all the way through!
