This sinister thriller is a great read.

Ria returns to work having taken a sabbatical when her best friend and colleague, Livvy, sadly died after taking drugs.

She is stunned to discover she has a new flatmate, Amanda, who seems to have taken over Ria’s job and boyfriend, as well.

Ria is determined to find out what really happened to Livvy - she knows she wouldn’t have knowingly taken drugs - but everyone else wants to move on.

A quick read, a slightly flat ending and a couple of annoying characters, but a clever storyline give this 3.5/4 ⭐️

Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for an ARC in return for an honest review.

Everyone seemed to love Amanda, even my ex-Jayden was blinded by her outgoing personality and model-like looks.
Yet her desperation to become friends felt unnatural.
When I began to receive calls, photos and presents from Livvy, I became spooked. Someone was targeting me, watching me.

Having read The Neighbour by Ms Rogers, I couldn't wait to get started on this one. Wow. The blurb sucked me in immediately, as this is the sort of psychological thriller I devour. And, it did not disappoint. The characters feel like your best friends....but are they?
An easy 5 stars from me.

I have reviewed some of Gemma Rogers’ books and enjoyed them. The Flatmate had an explosive, gripping beginning and I could immediately feel the club’s atmosphere. Livvy’s death was tragic and I felt her friend's grief.

I was automatically suspicious of Amanda and why she was there in the flat. The thriller was twisty as Gemma Rogers’ thrillers are. The quick pacing helped as I really wanted to find out more about the mystery surrounding Livvy’s death and Amanda’s appearance in the flat and how they were related.

Thanks to Gemma Rogers, Boldwood Books and Rachel’s Random Resources for my eARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

I have read every single book that Gemma has written and they are all very good. You know you are in for a page-turner that going to move quickly when you open a Gemma Rogers novel. I have yet to read anything boring or bland from this author! The Flatmate kept me intrigued, I was turning the pages quickly and wondering what was going to happen next.

I absolutely hated the character of Amanda, well done on writing her, Gemma!

Here’s the synopsis:

Always trust your very basic instincts or prepare for the consequences…

It was surreal returning to work after a sabbatical following the suspicious death of my best friend Livvy.

On my return to the company apartment, I was surprised to find Livvy’s replacement, Amanda Dowd firmly entrenched as my new flatmate.

She’d seemingly appeared out of nowhere.

But something didn’t feel right. I felt on edge.

With my job, home and life on the line, I had to find out who was doing this to me and why.

I hadn’t caused Livvy’s death but still believed it was no accident.

Someone else was guilty and I had to find out who before I was next..

Don’t miss this one and be sure to check out Gemma’s other novels which are all equally as good as this! Coming out on June 22.

Gemma Rogers books just keep getting better and better and this one was no exception,a fast paced psychological read that kept me guessing,I suspected everyone at some point throughout the book.
Hitting on a subject that proves that our actions really do have consequences.
A read I could'nt put down and definitely recommend.

Fast paced psychological thriller about a group of twentysomething colleagues working for a small advertising company in Crawley, Surrey. Plenty of after work drinks, clubbing, secrets and lies. This book tackles some serious issues such as mental health, gaslighting and spiking drinks with ketamine. However, it is very well written and despite not liking any of the group, I was hooked about 20% in and found it a compelling read which handled these serious subject in a sensitive and entertaining way. Keeps you guessing as to what really happened. Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley UK for the ARC.

Flatmate by Gemma Rogers is a spine tingling and goosebump inducing novel which I easily read in a few short hours. It's also taut, snappy, compelling and filled with angst which gave me a heightened sense of anxiety when reading which is a good thing.

Ria's best friend Livvy died unexpectedly one evening which crushed her utterly and completely. It didn't help that she and Jayden broke up, too. After traveling for five months she returned home to a surprise new roommate, Amanda. As if that weren't unsettling enough she received several disturbing communications. Her first priority remained her obsession with finding out what happened that terrible night to Livvy. It affected every aspect of her life including work...and it showed. She and Amanda were very different but did have something in common. Ria's relationships, work and personal, suffered. But worse was to come.

I did not care for the main characters' behaviours as they were juvenile (frequent partying and drinking) and therefore was not invested in them. My preference is for characters older than their 20s. Parts of the story were implausible. However, the plot and pace drew me in like a magnet and the tension was delectable.

If you enjoy quick suspenseful thrillery novels, do add this one to your list.

My sincere thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for providing me with an early digital copy of this engrossing book.

This book was short and such a fast paced read. This is the type of book that you'll finish in a day or two! I enjoyed the heart racing thriller but the book didn't have the strong emotional connection in terms of I didn't have a strong emotional connection to the characters of the book. The book did have the eerie and creepy vibe which I enjoyed. Thank you netgalley and Gemma for the e-ARC in exchange for a honest review!

Gemma Rogers is an author who can do no wrong. This book has delivered and I can safely say Gemma is an author who gets better and better with every book.

The Flatmate is unlike any of Gemma’s previous books. However, it is equally as gripping and addictive. I have loved this from beginning to end and devoured this in just one sitting.

Gemma is able to transport her readers. It’s as though you are watching the events play out. This has been full of tension and suspense why just being completely unpredictable.

The characters in this are a great mix, some you like, others you are suspicious of. As they come together, with events unfolding you feel your heart racing a little quicker. This is a book that is completely enthralling and unlike any I’ve read previously.

Rogers has the mind of a genius and this book is quite possibly the best yet. However, I love all of Gemma’s books. I will absolutely be recommending this one.

I’ve read most of Gemma’s books recently and she is fast becoming one of my favourite authors. This most recent book is so so good, I honestly couldn’t put it down, ending up staying up all night reading it!
I thought I had worked out the twist but no, she got me stumped. I hate to use the old cliche but this really is one heck of a gripping story

Enjoyed this page turner! Ria has to come to terms with the loss of her best friend, Livvy. When she returns to work after a several months to work through emotions, things have gone back to normal at the office but Ria still hasn't the closure she needs. Amanda was hired in Ria's absence to replace Livvy. This is where it gets complicated and twisty. How does Ria handle Amanda now living in her apartment in the second bedroom? How does Ria deal with Amanda taking over her best friend's work space? So many questions, but by the end of the book you get the answers you were looking for. If you are a fan of fun thrillers that make you want to read "just one more chapter", this is the book for you.

I liked the premise of this one but found the actual story wad a but slow for me. It felt more character drive than event and I struggled to really get into it. It didn't help that I just couldn't relate to the protagonist and found her decision making skills lacking to say the least. In saying that, some people are just that annoying and do just do things in the most difficult way possible so maybe the reader isn't meant to like her?! Anyways, I'm glad I finished it and it did get better the further on it went

She's not who she says she is.

Ria and best friend and co worker Livvy are at an award ceremony for their work Cardinal Media in Brighton, when Livvy is found in the toilets dead with the drug Ketamine in her system, Ria knows that this is not Livvy she would never take drugs, after a three month break from work Ria is ready to return and going back to her flat in Crawley she finds her ex Jayden and a blonde Amanda making themselves at home, and is stunned to find that she is now her new flat mate and is also taken Livvy's job. This woman is no replacement for Livvy and for reasons Ria doesn't like her.
Then things start to happen for Ria she is not going mad and the finger is pointed at Amanda who is this woman and why is she doing this? But no one believes Ria.
This book gives you so many goose bumps as you are reading, that will keep you well hooked into the story and send shivers down your spine, I could not put it down right till the ending, makes you so excited to carry on to one more chapter. brilliant absolutely brilliant.
