When Clare becomes a widow, her response is something that shocks her – relief. All she wants to do is move on and figure out how to continue her life, alone, no matter the guilt that brings.
So when Vic, her closest friend, comes to her, showing the signs of trouble in her own marriage, she is more than supportive in helping her leave Rob.
But Vic doesn’t get the chance to do that. Because as they go over to Vic's house to collect her things, they find a body. Rob’s.
It appears someone else had an axe to grind. But for Clare, already reeling from secrets from her own late husband’s dark past, she’s about to find out this murder isn’t as straightforward as it may appear…

After devouring The Family at Number 12, I couldn't wait for the next book from this author. It certainly didn't disappoint, with twists and turns throughout. The characterisations were realistic, and I read all in one sitting. Would strongly recommend for readers of domestic noir and relationship thrillers.

This is another 5* read from Anita Waller. In this stand alone book we have friends Claire and Vic. Claire is recently widowed and Vic has left her husband. When he is murdered the police look for the killer and have to decide if it was a stranger or someone much closer to the family.
Claire also discovers some shocking news about her late husband which leaves her searching for the truth.

I really enjoyed the pace and setting of this book. It kept me hooked from start to finish. I wanted to know about the characters developments as well as the identity of the killer.

A much deserved 5* from me and one I highly recommend.

I have previously really enjoyed anything written by Anita Waller so jumped at the chance to read an early copy of The Couple Across the Street. This book is a little different to her other books. There is a murder. There's a family mystery. There's infidelity and sexual assault. Yet the book manages to maintain quite a gentle approach to all of these. I did guess the killer about half way through the book but there was a twist to this I didn't see coming. A nice easy read which still managed to hold my attention all the way through.
Thank you Netgalley, Boldwood books and Anita Waller for giving me the opportunity to read this book. All opinions are my own.

I have read several from this author and always know i am going to get a good read.
Having said that this is more of a mystery than a thriller, not quite what i had expected.
Overall enjoyable, well written and believable characters.
Both Claire and her neighbour living a drama filled life.
Plenty of twists which kept me needing to know who had done what and why?
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for my copy.

This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the author and publisher. Talk about red herrings! This book kept me guessing. I kept going to different characters to guess the ending. Intrigue and mystery. Murder! This talented and gifted author has written a cannot put down novel. This fiction reads like nonfiction at times. The characters are likable and dynamic. The story moves quickly. A widow changes her home to suit herself, feeling alone yet free. Her best friend leaves her husband. The widow’s daughters are a huge part of the story eventually. This is not a pretty novel…this is life. I like this author and hope to read more.
