What a wonderful "meet cute" < in parenthesis because well.. read it and you'll understand :)
Sometimes we think we know what love is, and how we will find it.. but the truth is, when it arrives at our door.. the true reality as far BETTER than the one we envision. Double Decker Dreams is a true testament to that.
A worthy page turner, with LOL and heartwarming moments.
Also want to point out, there's a scene in the book where HR is involved.. and let me tell you I AM in HR and we have more empathy than that! Not a true HR representation! LOL
But other than than 5 stars!

I didn't dislike this book it just wasn't my favorite. The character sees this man on the bus through her window and thinks he's the perfect English gentleman then when she does in fact meet him he's not what she imagined. Which is fine, but my issue is she spends weeks coming up with this whole story about him and pretending he's there having these convos and then when she meets the person in real life she just is heartbroken and kinda cold to them at first and I just find it all a bit odd. It does get better but that beginning plot point made me cringe.

I did enjoy the audio and thought the narrator was enjoyable to listen to.

Thanks netgalley for the opportunity to listen to this book.

Cute story friends-to-lovers story. I felt compelled to keep reading (listening, actually). We follow Kat’s professional and love life, and it’s curious how this 31-year-old woman acts like a teenager in relation to love expectations, but as a successful businesswoman when it comes to her career. I was annoyed at her and admiring her at the same time, depending on the moment. Personally, I would have liked that the author wrote a different ending for her professional life (no spoilers), but it’s a nice story nonetheless. Romantically speaking, it was predictable but with some nice twists along the road.

3,5 stars.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ARC of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

This book made me think back to my teen years where I daydreamed about who my husband would be, how many children we would have, and where we would live. Just like the protagonist, Kat, as she sees a guy and fantasizes about him. The book itself did not do much for me. It was very slow starting and I just felt like too much emphasis was placed on Kat’s daydreams. The narrator did an amazing job though.

I think I’m an outlier here but I loved this one. Okay, to be fair, I’m biased because the author talks about West Michigan which is where I’m from. I LOVE when authors talk about places in my state but especially when they are close by. I also thought it was a cute love story and not what I expected.

🌀Synopsis
Kat is living in London and trying to get a promotion. She’s pushing herself to the limit to try to climb that corporate ladder. Love seems to be irrelevant until she spots a handsome man on a bus one day. She keeps seeing him and convinces herself that she’s going to meet him and she does.
Instead of being the handsome british prince she imagined, he turns out to be American. Kat is super disappointed and doesn’t even want to continue the friendship. He continues to pursue her and they turn out to be good friends.
Kat even relies on him to help her through an inappropriate work encounter. It isn’t long before Kat realizes she has feelings for him and he’s in the process of getting back together with his girlfriend. Devastated, she accepts the friendship. Until he breaks up with his girlfriend again and their true feelings are revealed. Things are temporarily derailed when Kat has to admit she had a very different fantasy of what he was before she met him. Not thinking he could measure up, the two split. Kat is forced to figure out what she truly wants for both her career and her relationship.

Kat, an American consultant who is working in London for six months, sees the guy of her dreams on a double decker bus from her apartment window. In true romcom movie fashion, she dreams up her perfect guy and gives this persona to the double decker bus stranger she keeps seeing from her window. While Kat ever meet this mystery man? And if she does, will he be anything like this fantasy prince she’s dreamed up in her imagination?

I have to say, I loved parts or this book and disliked parts. My emotions towards this book were very bipolar and I think a lot of that has to do with Kat’s mindset on a lot of things and how she seems to think her way is the only way. I don’t want to go into detail and give anything away, but I found myself clashing with Kat in my head alot when reading this book. Anyway, aside from that, this was an enjoyable romance with fun supporting characters that pulled me in.

I liked how the author looked at romance and expectations and how things aren’t always as they seem, but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. I listened to the audiobook version of this book and really enjoyed the narration. Overall this was a good romance, I just clashed with the main character a bit much.

Thanks for NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC audiobook!

Personally for me I couldn’t take the narrator. I’m not usually picky, but she speaks in a completely monotone voice. She almost sounded like a newscaster. Story was not interesting enough for me to suffer through.

This was a cute romcom — but nothing I will remember. I wish there was a little more angst in it as well. The setting was fun though.

The narrator was good, but I felt like she could have used a bit more emotion.

This is a cute RomCom. However I felt the beginning of the story was boring. In addition, I found Kat a bit annoying and struggled to get through the book due to her actions.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape for a copy of this audiobook. This is my voluntary honest review.

This was a cute, clean romcom. I enjoyed the quirkiness of the storyline and thought the main character was likeable.

This book was very cute! But unfortunately extremely similar to another (just no spice) I just happened to be reading at the same time.
The plot was captivating and the narrator kept me interested.

Story: 3.75 ⭐️
Narration: 2.5 ⭐️

Kat is a 31-year-old American living in London, climbing the corporate ladder, and dreaming of falling in love with a rich English royal. While looking out her window one morning, she sees a man on a double-decker bus and believes it is love at first sight. Having watched too many rom-coms, Kat begins to daydream about this mystery man. Eventually, she finds the courage to board his bus and introduce herself. However, he does not turn out to be the Prince Charming she imagined.

“Double-Decker Dreams” was a cute, fast romantic comedy that is a perfect summer read. This book reminded me of “Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine” and “One Day in December.” The characters were quirky and fun, and I loved the London setting. While some plot points were a bit over-the-top, many of the struggles Kat faced were portrayed realistically. At times, Kat’s immaturity and arrogance made her an unlikeable main character. She did redeem herself in the end, though.

I listened to this novel on audiobook, narrated by Madeleine Maby. The narration was too robotic and monotone. I think I would have enjoyed this book a lot more if I had read a physical copy, because it really was a fun story.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape for the ALC in exchange for an honest review.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a lighthearted romantic book. The characters are so warm and enjoyable. The storyline is captivating and keeps you wanting to read until you find out what happens in the end.

The cover is probably my favorite part of this book, sorry. Not that book is horrible or a total miss, I just really really really loved the cute cover and premise I think I may have built up the "cuteness" this book was going to be. It started off pretty slow (like a bus!) as MacMillan introduces the plot and various characters. Kat creates a fantasy in her mind of "Alexander" the cute guy in a bus that rides past her apartment every day. She has the idea that he is a royal sophisticated Brit, but in reality when she finally mustards the nerve to get on the bus and introduce herself, she finds out that he is infact from the same Mid West state she herself is from. Kat throws Rory/"Alexander" into the friend zone. If you know troupes in romances you obviously know where this book is going.
After the initial set up and very snobby arrogant comments from Kat (I really did not like her-what american uses the terms "Flat" and "Hoovering" and "Quing--I love when my friends across the pond use these terms, but come on Kat....dont use British slang ) totally judging sweet Rory, and having to put up with her annoying friend (she was the worst) I really loved the last 40% of the book. I had all the warm and fuzzys you want from a Rom Com! By the end of the book I also ended up loving Kat. So just get through the first 20% and the author's insistance that all men are pigs and you will have a truly fun heartwarming story that will make you want to eat "Hot Dish" IYKYK

Thank you Netgally for this advanced copy of "Double Decker Dreams" I was not influenced for this honest review.

Cute romcom about love not being a romcom. At first I find the FMC a bit deranged but who's to say I wouldnt feel the same about a handsome Stranger on a double decker bus!

A sweet (if overly long/drawn out) friends to lovers romance set in London between two small town Michigan transplants. Kat is a career-driven business consultant who's always chasing the next big promotion except she's finding her life lonely and starts daydreaming about Rory, the man she sees riding past her house on a double decker bus. Eventually she works up the courage to meet him and the two strike up a great friendship.

While Kat is sure Rory is hung up on his ex, she sloooooowly finds herself falling for him as she learns to appreciate that love isn't all grand gestures but comes in the quiet moments of two people being there for one another.

I liked this one but I definitely thought it would have benefited from a lot of editing. Parts felt a bit dry/boring and I would have enjoyed it more if it was a bit shorter/faster paced. Good on audio narrated by Madeleine Maby this was a fine balance between women's fiction and romance. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for early digital copies in exchange for my honest review!

I want to start off by making something clear. The main character Kat has to deal with a lot of scenarios that no one should deal with. I think this character is immature and has a lot of character flaws but I don’t want my issues with her to be taken as I feel she brought these events on herself. No one deserves what she had to go through and no one brings that on themself.

With that out of the way Double-Decker Dreams was a book that I really disliked but then came around on by the end. I did not like the book because of the main character Kat, in the end, I liked the book in spite of Kat.

The story follows Kat and her unlikely love story with Rory. Rory is the only reason why I came around on this book in the end.

During the first quarter of this book I was thinking about not even finishing. I have never not finished a book I received for review. This was close to being the first one. Kat spots a man on a double-decker bus and becomes infatuated with him. She gives him a name and a backstory and then hopelessly falls in love with him. In my opinion, this is not normal behavior for a 31-year-old. Kat is someone who is extremely successful in her professional life and then her personal life is this ridiculous. I was just getting angrier and angrier the more in love she got with the story of this “prince”.

She finally goes on the bus to meet him and he turns out to be an American just like her and Kat immediately seems to not even want to be bothered with him. This man she doesn’t know did not fulfill the giant shoes of this fake person she made up and she was immediately mad about it. My frustration with Kat lasted for the entire book.

Rory on the other hand was selfless and just an amazing person. At first, I did not want him with Kat because he is way too good for her. When I started to see his feelings I came around and wanted what he wanted. If it were not for Rory I do not think I would have finished this book.

This story has a very slow start, but once you get through the silly, unrealistic, first few chapters to the ‘real’ story, it turns into a really good story. Once the story got going, I enjoyed the ups and downs, twists and turns that made it come alive.. I also enjoyed the descriptions of the Cockney vocabulary differences, the descriptions of the London sights and sounds, and the various mentions of unique London cultural references. I felt that the narrator did an excellent job of voicing the narration to give the story substance and help me visualize the story .

This book started out so slow and honestly creepy. Kat was planning her life with a random man she saw on the double decker bus to an extreme. Not just the "oh, he's cute. I can see us together" type of planning...she was full on having conversations in her head about how he would talk to her and make decisions based on what she thought he would be like. When she actually met him, his name was Rory, not Alexander, and he was very different than what she imagined. I liked how their friendship progressed, butI think that Kat is too shallow for Rory and the beginning of the book really mad it not good to me.

Thank you to NetGalley, Lindsay MacMillan and Dreamscape Media for an audio arc of Double Decker Dreams in exchange for an honest review. This review is wholly my own and may not be reproduced.

I had high hopes for this one. The cover reminded me of The Lost Ticket, which I absolutely loved, but unfortunately, this book fell a little short.

This story revolves around Kat, who is an American currently living in London temporarily for a job. She broke up with her longtime boyfriend, Mateo prior to leaving for London. Kat is a hopeless romantic and dreams of the fairytale romances she watches on tv and reads about in books. One day, as she is sitting at her window, a double decker bus temporarily stops and there is a gorgeous man sitting on the top level, he looks up and they make long eye contact. Kat then cannot stop thinking about this man. She just knows he is her prince charming and that he must have also felt that same connection with their eye contact. She creates an entire story in her head of who he is, what he does, why he's riding the bus and even gives him a name. When she finally works up the courage to board the bus to meet him, he is not at all what she expected and is instantly sullen about it. But just because he isn't what she expected doesn't mean he's not the perfect man for her. But can she let her imaginary prince charming idea go before it's too late?

This book started out absolutely dreadful. Kat was EXTREMELY annoying and a good portion of the beginning was literally nothing but her concocting her fairytale story about "Alexander." It was a bit much and I was very close to DNF'ing this one.

I did enjoy the second half much more than the first. Rory (Alexander) was an extremely down-to-earth guy and real-life super sweet. He was the perfect rom-com male lead. I mostly enjoyed the romance playing out, but still thought that Kat was extremely annoying and not really deserving of Rory. The ending seemed too rushed. I would have rather more time have been spent on the ending than the hard-to-handle beginning.

I won't be recommending this one, but also will not be promoting against it either.

3/5 Stars for me
