I enjoyed this immensely more than the first book and can’t wait to see where this journey takes us in book 3.

A nice follow up to book one but didn’t hit quite the same for me. I wish Wendell played a larger role. Looking forward to book three.

I enjoyed the first book in this series and was excited to dive into this one.

There is adventure, faeries (of course), and more Wendell and Emily shenanigans.

I did enjoy the plot structure and the new characters added to the story. However, I couldn't sink into Emily's narration here as I did in the first. It felt a bit like a slog at times, and I kind of wanted to hear from a perspective that *wasn't* Emily. I think part of it was that the indications of character growth on her part that we had at the end of book one are completely gone at the start of this book.

It was still enjoyable at times, and I do like the mix of cozy and darker vibes, but the narrative tone was just a miss for me this time.

A magical fantasy filled with humor and witty banter. Although Emily can be mildly unlikable at times she has shown much growth in becoming more willing to interact with others, show love, and make friends. Her (now sometimes) grumpy attitude contrasted wonderfully with the charismatic Wendell.

The pacing was excellent, much faster then the first novel which was much more world building and analytical. The opening scenes had us jumping straight back into the action with a catastrophic series of events that involved a secret foot and ghost! It was a funny series of events that set the tone for the book.

It’s with high anticipation that I look forward the third novel! At the same time, though, I will be sad to say goodbye to this wonderful world!

Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands was a wonderful, enchanting read! I really enjoyed the first book in the series and was not disappointed by book 2, it had everything I loved about book one plus more! I would highly recommend reading this to anyone who enjoys stories with adventure, scholarly pursuits, fae, and romance.

I loved the first book and was so excited for this one, but felt a little let down. It was fine, but lacked the humor and whimsy of the first. I wanted to like Emily more, but her "I'm not like other girls" schtick felt more and more one note as the book went one,

This is a beautifully written book with great attention to detail. I just loved this book. I bought a copy for my own personal library.

I preferred this one to the first finding the relationship dynamics between our main characters to be much better now that relationships are established. I still found it to be a bit over written and pacing was a struggle but i found the storyline to be more enjoyable and i am excited to see how this all ends.

A charming continuation of the story of a grumpy, antisocial scholar, Emily Wilde, and her flirtatious academic rival, Wendell Bambleby. Heather Fawcett's ability to create such lovable characters is truly amazing and continues to shine through with this sequel. You will laugh and kick your little feet as you read about Emily and Wendells adventures. HIGHLY recommend for anyone who enjoyed the first installment and if you haven't read Encyclopedia of Faeries... what are you still doing here?!

I can’t believe I forgot about this for so long. The first book brought me so much joy, I was ecstatic to get an eARC and then forgot about it until last week. Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book and share my opinions.
Emily Wilde is a wonderful character, intelligent and strong willed. This book follows her on yet another adventure into researching the fae worlds. A few characters from the first book return like her trusty hound Shadow and love interest/ fellow dryadologist Wendell Bambleby. Wendell is a lovely man, no notes.
I really enjoy Fawcett’s writing and the world is so fun. I am excited to read any further adventures of Emily and Wendell.

Cozy, whimsical, and quirky.

Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands was a fantastic sequel to Fawcett's first book of the series "Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Fairies". While the pacing was a bit slower than my normal picks, I was expecting it to be this way since EOF was paced similarly. The banter makes the slow burn so worth it, I love Fawcett's writing style. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who enjoys a cozy lower stakes fantasy with a hint of mystery. I laughed out loud, I smiled giddily at my kindle in the dark, and I felt so attached and immersed into this world just like the first book. Dare I say this was even better than the first! I look forward to seeing what comes next in this series. These books aren't talked about enough, they deserve more love and hype in the community.

One of the best books I've read this year -- a delightful mix of epistolary storytelling, fantasy, mystery, and romance. I can't wait for the next book!

This was so cute and cozy. I love these characters. This is also such a fun little world to be in. I liked book two and I liked this one even more. I’m so glad I picked this up. This series is worth the read.

I enjoyed Emily Wilde’s Map of the Otherlands. I did think it was a little slower and didn’t have quite as much story as the first book, but it was enjoyable.

This is a cute and quirky book and perfectly matches its' description. If you are a cozy fantasy reader, this is perfect for you. It is not a fast paces read that will give you anxiety. I think I prefer more intense fantasy so this was a little slow for me but so cute and cozy nonetheless.

It is a slow burn with great banter. This sequel does not disappoint when it comes to comparing it with the first. It does not drag re-explaining things in the beginning and I would say the magic intensifies, the stakes are different and the environment becomes a little more dangerous.

If you adored the first book, please do not be afraid to pick this up!

I'm excited to see what Heather creates for the next one!

I have recently had the privilege to read the enchanting continuation of Of Heather Fawcett’s Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Fearies. As usual Emily, a dryadologist, and professor is wonderfully prickly and her counterpart Wendell Bambly, is equally charming. Emily’s Map of other lands brings the two together again for another whimsical adventure to locate Wendell’s door so that he might return to his kingdom. The first book was literary gold, and you will find that the same is true of the sequel. The diary styled story continues to be the perfect way to share Emily’s adventures and Wendell’s thoughts on the practice are comical as always. 
New things to look forward to💕
In the first book, the author introduces us to our prickly and resourceful professor and really lets us get to know the ins and outs of her personality, as well as her connection to the fae. We also get to know the exuberantly vain but charming love interest. In Emily Wilde’s map to otherlands we get more of their sparkling personalities, but we also get incite into their everyday lives and meet the people who make up their social circles. Getting to see these new dynamics play out and change and grow made the story even better!

Something I love about Heather Fawcett is that she keeps the characters true to themselves even as they have entered into a relationship, a lot of times you see the love interests get into a relationship and become completely different characters, their romance is sweet, and adds to the story perfectly without overwhelming the plot. 
Conclusion💕
I have said this before and I will no doubt say it again, Heather fawcetts writing and seemingly boundless imagination bring studio ghibli level imagination and world building to mind. The series perfectly teeters between cozy fantasy and epic fantasy, so If you are a fan of cozy fantasy (or not) you will love this series!

This book was an absolutely phenomenal sequel to an amazing first novel. While Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faery could easily have been a standalone, I am so glad that it wasn’t. This book made me feel warm and fuzzy while also continuously making me want to know more about the characters, the world itself, and what would happen next. I can’t recommend this series enough.

A great cozy read for fantasy lovers! This sequel managed to do what most sequels fall short of: bringing the story to a comfortable, well paced closed. Fawcett’s choices of character and story arcs were perfectly made as the plot flows comfortably allowing the reader to become immersed in the story and connected with the characters. There is a perfect balance between fluff and coziness to angst and the chaos of exploration. A great read for those who love the world of Lord of the Rings but hate the stress of adventuring!
