Death was so much sweeter than I was expecting, which of course made it so hard for Laz not to fall hard for him. Their story spanned over years, and I really enjoyed their dynamic, and the push and pull of their relationship.
I was definitely misty-eyed by the time I made it to the Epilogue. This was definitely a unique series that I’m sure I’ll look back at fondly.

Death has arrived to finish what his brothers couldn’t and he will not be swayed from his mission. However, he didn’t expect to come across Lazarus, the only person that cannot die. And Lazarus is determined to ruin his plans for humanity no matter how many times she has to kill him.
A great ending to this amazing series! Lazarus is one of my favorite FMC. She didn’t give up and continued to give it her all. Since everyone she loved had been taken from her, she had nothing to lose and was determined to stop Death. I don’t want to spoil anything so I’ll just say I loved Death and Lazarus. I laughed and cried as I read it and the ending was perfect even if I could hardly read through the tears. I’m glad we got a chance to revisit some of the characters from the previous books.
Overall, I absolutely loved this series and have re-read it several times! If you love enemies to lovers, I highly recommend you pick it up. It is one of the best enemies to lovers I’ve read and I enjoyed every book in the series.

Edit: I was lucky enough to receive ARCs from NetGalley for the beautiful new editions!

Actual Rating = 4.25
Is this series repetitive? Yep.
Is Death objectively the hardest to love of the four? Probably.
Did I fucking melt every time Thanatos called Lazarus "Laz"? Very much.
I don't know what to say about this that hasn't already been said by people much funnier and insightful than I am. I loved Lazarus - TELL ME HOW A GIRL WHO CAN'T DIE IS RELATABLE AF - I thought the baby subplot was totally unnecessary, and I squee'd when all four horsemen battled at the end. The ending was anti-climactic, but I wasn't reading this book for the action anyway and, come on, how the hell else could it have ended?
TL;DR = YESYESYESYESYESYES

Ok death 💀, like this book 😮💨😮💨😮💨, the slow burn romance, and how dark this books are , damn Laura do it again

Thank you to Bloom and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Again, another great edition to this series with the amazing writing from Laura Thalassa.

Death, Death, Death. The final Horseman and the final book in the series. Everything came together here, you saw old faces, met the newest heroine, Lazarus, and see what Death came to do and see if he can be dissuaded from his rampage. This book was definitely the most emotional of the series, and tied a lot more into the Biblical story, which I could have personally done without. I love this series overall and will be rereading in the future.
Lazarus has been put on Earth to do this one thing, and it is to seduce Death. His brothers also want her to do this to save their newfound love and families.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Bloom for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Death and I are old enemies.
Death is the penultimate book of the Four Horsemen series by Laura Thalassa and is a fitting end to the story.
Lazarus Gaumond is an anomaly - she can’t die. Found by her adopted mother as a baby, she survived Pestilence when the rest of her town had perished. And now she meets Death at a market, after watching her entire city drop dead instantly. She is the soul that Death cannot recognize, cannot pry from her mortal body. And it infuriates him as much as intrigues him. His task is to finish humanity off for good, but Lazarus, with the help of his three brothers, hope to stop him.
Ok I have a confession to make: Death is my least favourite book of the four. Death as a character is fine, same with Lazarus. However, without spoiling the plot, I find the inclusion of a younger character to be unnecessary and feel that it cheapens Lazarus’s own abilities in a way. That said, I was really happy to see Pestilence, War and Famine making their return in this book. The scenes where they show up are my favourite and they were absolutely necessary to bring about the ending.
The book is fast paced and full of interesting twists and turns. It’s also spicy. Very spicy. I would argue this is probably the spiciest book of the lot. The characterization of Lazarus is also quite interesting. Laura states she purposely didn’t describe Lazarus’s features, as she wanted the reader to be able to see themself or their own interpretation of what Lazarus should look like. I honestly didn’t notice this until I was over halfway through. It was a great idea!
As I said, this book is an excellent end to an intense, gripping and imaginative series. I cannot overstate how much I loved it and I definitely recommend it to anyone who is curious about the after life, loves a true morally grey enemies to lovers dynamic and also wants a HEA.
Thanks very much to Sourcebooks Bloom and NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Still crying about this book. This was a series where the stakes were so high thay you couldn’t really see how there could be a happy ending for each book, but somehow Laura Thalassa made it work. And this book was no exception. This was a perfect end to the series. It was so sweet and emotional and sexy and I loved it and this whole series so very much.

This series is hands down my favorite of all time and I say that with confidence. I have 3 editions, and this new release makes 4. Everything was perfect. If you haven’t read The Four Horsemen yet, I don’t know what you’re waiting for.

I don’t even know what to say. I’m so sad it’s over but I loved Death so much. And Pestilence was too pure 😭 This series means everything to me and the ending was just perfection.

I'm going to go ahead and review the series as a whole, because there are common themes that run throughout that are uniquely explicated in each book.
Where do I even start? First, that I totally understand the hype about this series now. It’s one of those series that grabs you by the throat and takes you along for one hell (pun intended) of a ride.
Each FMC brings different elements of humanity to the fore that speak to their angelic counterparts in profound ways. And the ways in which author Laura Thalassa explores idea about God, humanity, frailty, good, and evil are so intriguing. Though these were written starting in the “before” times, Thalassa’s work seems all the more prescient today.
If you want your mind and heart challenged, if you want to experience the beauties of love and human nature (and their ugliness, too), then please, please read this series. It is masterful.

Such a good book, the back and forth between Death and Laz was beautifully heartbreaking. This was definitely the most emotionally impactful of the Four Horsemen series, and I am so happy to have a digital copy now! Lazarus is condemned to watching those around her fall at the hands of Death, but Death could not escape the impression Laz would make on his heart. This entire series is a MUST READ, but especially this final book.

I was fortunate enough to receive an advanced reader's copy of Death by Laura Thalassa from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I am a big fan of Laura Thalassa and I very much enjoyed the first three novels about Death’s “brothers.” Tall order to hope book four would be equally awesome, but Laura Thalassa pulled it off.
Death is a fast-moving tale that follows the final, most terrifying - and possibly most compassionate, horseman of the apocalypse, his reluctant beloved, zombies, heartache, scheming, and redemption.
Although it seems inconceivable that anyone could fall in love with the entity charged with humanity’s end, once you start reading, you’ll quickly realize that Laura Thalassa makes it work. Death was engaging from the first chapter to the end, moved quickly, featured plenty of action, had lots of layers, and many steamy scenes. All too soon, you’ll be at the end of the book and want to start over with the first novel though!
I would wholeheartedly recommend Death to anyone and am looking forward to future novels by Laura Thalassa.

Death by L. Thalassa, published by Sourcebooks, Bloom Books, is the fourth book in the Four Horsemen Series.
The fittng conclusion to a fantastic dystopian series, that took me on a wild ride.
After Pestilence, War and Famine, Death is the last unmated of the four horsemen. That's about to change when he meets Lazarus, the woman he can't take her soul from.
She's determined, he needs to be stopped, the beautiful angel of darkness. Everything seems lost and ultimate sacrifices have to be made. But love conquers everything in the end all four get a well deserved, hard earned hea. An outstanding unique series I read with beated breath, sitting on the edge of my seat.

Another book in the four horsemen series. This one is about Death who falls in love with Lazarus who cannot be killed....
Lots of violence, steamy scenes, drama and suspense. Lazarus and Death are terrific together. Very dramatic and lots of action. A terrific addition to the series.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

This was a good read, but Pestilence is still my favorite book out of this series. I enjoyed Lazrus and Thanatos characters. I loved that Laz was different from the previous leading female characters in this series. She definitely stood out in this series, and I liked that even when she failed, she kept trying and trying. When it came to Death, there were more than a few times where he had me wanting to pull my hair out. However, he came through in the end and I loved how things came full circle with the brothers and their loves, this series wrapped up nicely. I didn't expect it to end the way it did, but I enjoyed it none the less. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more books from this author. I think this is a great series for paranormal romance book lovers.
