I think there’s a lot of helpful information and ideas in this book. It’s a great tool for your relationship “toolbox”. Whether you are in a new relationship or 50 years in. Not all worked for us but that’s okay. We were able to find what we would be useful and go from there.

I went into this self help book hoping it would provide me with some new ideas on how to improve communication and tips on how to relinquish a little bit of my anxiety when it comes to my partner planning things, out of the whole book there was only one piece of advice that I took away from it, "Trust Your Partner to Plan". The rest of the book unfortunately did not provide anything new or thought provoking.

This book might be better if you're newer to self help books or maybe if you require a bit more "in depth" help in your relationship.

It takes work and effort to forge a relationship between two people that is both profound and enduring. This couples counseling workbook includes more than seventy-five exercises and ideas that are based on science to assist you in learning how to communicate, developing trust, managing conflict, nurturing intimacy, and cultivating a more equal and rewarding connection together.

Thank you to #netgalley for this advanced reader's copy for an honest review.

I am always drawn to self help books actually written by social workers or therapists, and this was no exception. As a self help book junkie, I loved the ratio of quick educational info on concepts paired with majority tactical workbook-style prompts. It’s all straightforward and helpful; no fluff (as is often the case for self help books). I’d highly recommend couples who want to get closer (even if they’re already in a good place) to use this workbook together.

This book is divided into 2 sections:
1) The Fundamentals of a Healthy Relationship. 2 chapters
2) Tools to Help you improve and strengthen your relationship.

With 75 exercises, you're bound to find a few that work for you, even if most don't.

One example for building trust: you let your partner plan a date & you go along no matter what.

The most important thing is that each person wants to improve & make an effort.

My husband and I have been together for 14 years, so we were excited to read this book and get some new ideas on how to communicate, deal with conflict, etc. Unfortunately, we didn't learn anything groundbreaking or revelatory. It was fine, but not particularly useful to us. Others' results may vary.

The exercises in this book were very helpful. My husband and I have been together 24 years, married for 20. This gave us some interesting ways to communicate, reconnect, and I could see it being helpful I'm a therapy session or even just as a guide to help couples get more on the same page.

This workbook has many helpful check-ins and activity suggestions for partners, but it did not provide any new or incredibly thought provoking information for me.
