Ok, this review is going to be a mix bag because on the one hand, the author is a FAV of mine. But on the opposite hand. It was just TOO juvenile for me .
I enjoy YA books but I definitely need to be in the mood for them. So consider this review not an accurate one , because i definitely wasn’t ready to sink into those teenage emotions.
On that note. I love a good Swift reference just maybe not that many… and I honestly don’t remember thinking about sex as much as they do at the same age.
Again I say. I love the author. Love her books. But this one wasn’t my fav of hers.

This book was so stinkin cute! It was so nice to have a break from the heavier books I've read to read this sweet gem of a book!
Charlie and Bailey were just so adorable! I loved their banter, jokes and friendship. I really enjoyed the fake dating and seeing them try to deny how they felt for each other.
Bailey was so unapologetically herself and never changed for anyone! It was so lovely to see Charlie fall in love with her for exactly who she was. This book felt like such a warm hug and brought me back to the days of teen rom-coms that just made you feel good after watching.
This was my first book from Lynn Painter and it certainly won't be my last!

This was super cute and quirky. Bailey and Charlie had some great chemistry and even better banter.
There were a few things I disliked, but I think those come with the YA genre.
All in all, I found Betting On You to be a really enjoyable read!
Thank you to Simon & Schuster Canada for sending me an advanced digital copy via NetGalley in exchange for review!

I enjoyed the slow burn romance of Bailey and Charlie and the slow change from being friends to becoming lovers. The story is told in a 2 POV. The story references as well the experience resulting from divorce, and the addition of new adults in their lives. I am definitely a fan of this author and her new story did not disappoint.

Welcome to Planet Funnn and another Lynn Painter YA hit! If you haven't read Better Than The Movies or The Do-Over yet, run- don't walk- to get your copies and add this one to the list.
I absolutely loved play by the rules Bailey- who had very Meg Ryan characteristics from When Harry Met Sally- and cynical Charlie- the Billy Crystal character- as they navigate their relationship as coworkers and more. This romcom has it all- dual POV, forced proximity and even some fake dating. Not to mention all the Taylor Swift references! Painter also does an excellent job with banter and making these characters. vulnerable and believable. To me, this felt a little more YA than Better Than The Movies/The Do-Over as it primarily focused on divorce but was still a really enjoyable read if not for the characters alone Thanks Netgalley and Simon & Schuster Canada for my earc.

Lynn Painter is the queen of YA romcoms. This book was swoony and sweet, and I ADORED Bailey and Charlie. Bailey's emotions felt raw and real, as she struggled to process her life after her parents' divorce. I loved the strong friendships both characters had, and the side-characters really added something special to this story!

Really conflicted on this one.
Firstly, I absolutely adore everything Lynn Painter writes and she has become an instant buy author for me since reading Better Than the Movies last year. Her books are always so stink’n cute and full of fantastic witty banter! Betting on You was no different. The characters were funny and I loved “watching” them fall in love. It was an overall enjoyable read!
My issue with this book was simply that it was just extremely cringy. I’m a Swiftie and have always loved and appreciated the Taylor Swift references in Painters other novels. However, it was just way overdone in this one. I felt like every page mentioned something TS. I was also a little confused on the YA rating of this title. While there was obviously nothing inappropriate for a YA novel, I was a little dumbfounded that there was so many swears and talk about sex and “getting it on” in this one. I definitely think this would be more on the NA side despite being closed door. It just made things a little cringy for me the way the MMC was so focused on sex. Do teens talk/think about sex? Yes! But this was by far the most talk of it I have ever seen in a YA book which, again brings me back to thinking this should be classified as NA.
Now, would I recommend this book? Absolutely! Like I said, I love Lynn Painters writing and the story was witty and cute. It just wasn’t for me and that’s ok! I think a lot of other Swifties or contemporary YA lovers should give it a try and form their own opinions.

An homage to Nora Ephron's When Harry Met Sally, this latest dual POV romance from the queen of YA romcoms sees two teens of divorced parents not quite bonding on a solo flight to Omaha. Opposites very much don't attract between cynical Charlie and people pleaser Bailey but things change when they meet again a year later as coworkers at an amusement park.
Bailey and Charlie become reluctant friends by betting on other people's relationships, fake dating and helping one another when their dysfunctional families get to be too much. But things really heat up when Charlie and Bailey take a road trip and spend time together in Colorado. Only one bed and 'practice' kisses quickly scare both teens as to just how real their feelings for one another actually are.
PERFECT for fans of 10 things I hate about you, this was full of top notch banter, sizzling chemistry, and was great on audio narrated by Jesse Vilinsky and Zachary Webber. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy and @simon.audio for a complimentary ALC in exchange for my honest review.

I have been a big Lynn Painter fan since the first page of Better Than the Movies. It’s not only my favourite YA romance ever, it’s one of my favourite romance reads period. I’ve enjoyed her other books and was very excited for this one as well!
Betting on You is about Bailey and Charlie who meet on a plane, and quickly discover they can’t stand each other. A year after the disastrous flight, they’re both hired at the same part time job.
They are forced to train and then work together, which leads to a quasi-friendship. When Bailey’s Mom and new boyfriend plan a weekend away with Bailey, Charlie joins as Bailey’s (fake) boyfriend to try and create a wedge between the relationship Bailey is less than excited about. This leads to real feelings and so much wonderful teen angst.
I will say this book started much slower for me than her previous YA work. I didn’t completely love the first 1/3, and was worried this one was going to be a miss for me, but then cue fake dating!! I am a huge sucker for fake dating, and boy was I won over once they started.
I didn’t find it quite as charming as her previous books and I think it might be because it felt a bit younger than the others and I didn’t love the characters or banter quite as much (but honestly who could ever beat Wes - IYKYK)
But don’t get me wrong, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book! It was really cute and I could feel myself smiling as I read it. I will read every single YA romance Lynn ever writes and will hug each and every book when I finish. All hail the queen of YA

Lynn Painter does it again! Betting on You is a fantastic young adult romance. It's full of addicting characters, swoonworthy romance, witty banter and laugh out loud humour. It made me laugh, it made me smile and it made me root for these characters all the way through. I just love the stories that Lynn Painter creates and am so glad another one of her books is a win for me!

While I absolutely loved this book, it was also missing something that I can't quite put my finger on. But I stand by my statement that anything Lynn Painter writes, I'm gonna read. This book was adorable. Super relatable, the banter was on point, and it had all the Taylor Swift references we love.
I adored these two. The fact they could find some common ground after some awkward encounters and help navigate life of the divorced kid was wonderful. Charlie had me laughing with all his ideas and his sarcastic attitude. I wish we could have seen more of him dealing with his family and getting his problems resolved the way we did Baileys. Charlie was the perfect person for this season of Baileys life.
Oh Bailey girl, I loved her. Her character growth and maturity was truly great and just one of the things I love about Lynn's books. I loved her growth with Scott and her mom however I wish we could have seen more of a closure with her dad instead of just a text message?
All in all this was a great book and everything I expect in a Lynn Painter book.

here are my notes from when i picked this book up in the summer:
- instant love for Bailey when she mentions Emily Henry 34 pages in
-A PSYCH RERUN
i was clearly very excited about both of these things. these characters were relatable and the writing was so so good but i couldn’t get on board with the overall storyline. i think that i need to start with ‘better than the movies’ to get a better introduction to the world of Lynn Painter and then revisit this book in the new year!!
thank you to netgalley and Simon & Schuster Canada for an e-arc! a more complete review will be uploaded when i have finished the book!

Gosh, Lynn Painter + YA is utter perfection!!!! Absolutely loved the idea of this book, and watching their relationship transform. There’s just something about Lynn Painter’s banter that gets me, and I loved all of their phone calls. I loved how they guided and supported each other through similar life changes, and made each other laugh along the way!

super duper cute ya rom com AKA exactly what I expect from Lynn Painter and im not mad about it
would recommend if you just want something to lie on your stomach and kick your feet up in the air to while reading because this was so it
thank you netgalley & simon and schuster for the arc!

I enjoyed this one from Lynn Painter but I found it a little too juvenile for me. I understand it falls into the Young Adult genre… it was well written but not my favourite of hers. I do look forward to her other new books releasing though!

Thanks to the publisher Simon and Schuster for providing me with this e-ARC on NetGalley for early review.
This was my second book by Lynn Painter and what a cute YA romance! It reminded me of why I love YA and reminded me of what it's like to be in your teens while hitting me in the feels with the enemies to lovers trope.
Bailey reminds me of myself, she's a bookstagrammer, a huge Swiftie, and type A/likes following rules. Although she sounds way more booksta famous LOL. She is sometimes an over thinker and neurotic but she does mean well and is just trying her best to navigate life, relationships and her parent's divorce.
Charlie was honestly annoying at first but through getting to know him and his POV, I fell for him. He is also just a guy trying his best, and he feels so much but is afraid to love. I love me some angst in my books. He deals with divorce and views life in a completely different way than Bailey and it was interesting to see their back and forth.
I had to constantly remind myself that these mains are just 17 y/o's and are still babies learning to process their emotions and sometimes acting out over family issues. I probably have outgrown YA but it felt very authentically geared towards the target population. I will say there is maybe too many Taylor Swift references, which current me LOVES, but if one wasn't a Swiftie or maybe fast forward in a few years this large amount of references might become dated quick.
Overall I would certainly recommend if you are looking for a lovely cute YA read, this one's for the bookstagram Swiftie girlies.

Ms. Lynn Painter does it again! This was one of my highly anticipated reads, and was determined to get an ARC. I was willing to sell my soul just to be able to read this as soon as possible, and it did not disappoint!
The thing I LOVE about Lynn’s books is that they are light, easy, fun reads. They are the perfect books to pick up when you just need a dose of happiness. I was only in the first chapter and I was already rooting for Charlie and Bailey. I didn’t care what the conflict was as long as they were the endgame. I was happy.
I can’t seem to find the words to construct full comprehensive sentences to properly review this. All that comes to mind is GAHHHHH!! I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH!! CHARLIE!!! OMG! LMFAO!! GAHHH!!! EEEPPPP!!! OMG!
That is literally it.
I do have to say that I still love Better Than the Movies more (BTTM will just have a special place in my heart), but for a while there I thought Betting On You was going to change that. Reading this made me feel so giddy, and I couldn’t help but smile whenever Charlie and Bailey would interact. I could not put this book down. If you ever want a quick light read, this is worth picking up!
Read if you like:

I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait to read a whole Taylor Swift-referenced review about it. For now, I'll say that Lynn Painter has absolutely dominated the YA audience for romance books in the past few years and I cannot wait to read everything she writes in the future.

I was looking forward to this one since I enjoyed Lynn Painter's previous books and I love the idea of a waterpark setting. However, I'm finding that there's too much going on (which is reflected in the synopsis), and I'm not enjoying either of the main characters, especially Charlie. I also have some issues with the dialogue since a lot of it feels outdated and trying too hard to be funny, and the "Glasses" nickname Charlie has for Bailey bothered me. I was expecting more about the waterpark, but this aspect has barely been in the book so far. This one is a miss for me, unfortunately, and at over 400 pages, I'm not interested enough to continue reading.

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster Canada for an advanced electronic copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
Bailey has recently become a child of divorce and is on her first flight between parents when she meets Charlie, another child of divorce who swears that guys and girls can never just be friends. After a few years of running into each other, they find themselves working together and spending a lot more time around each other. How can someone so irritating be so wonderful at the same time?
Very cute! Super realistic to dumb things you'd do as a kid in high school with lots of feelings. I really enjoyed Bailey and Charlie and their dual perspectives. Also... 12 Taylor Swift references. I counted.
