Age Gap Romance | Billionaire Romance | Contemporary Romance

Unfortunately, I think I'm just not the right reader for this book. I enjoyed the hook about the "accidental sex quiz sent to the boss!!!" from the book's description, but I was disappointed with the actual execution. The quiz was shockingly...tame? for a book with this much smut, and I was almost amused that they thought the quiz was such a big deal when on the very next page you'd get an explicit sex scene. While I absolutely love me some smut, I do need a strong story and well written characters to carry me, and I just didn't connect with the plot. Too much of it relied on sheer chance, or someone not looking at their cell phone.

I did really appreciate that despite the age-gap and billionaire tropes, Maverick wasn't an alpha-hole. He was respectful and sweet and I was happy that I completely accepted that he wasn't going to manipulate Bridget.

I hate to give a poor review, since if I had known this was an age-gap romance I probably would have skipped this one. That was my bad for not paying attention ahead of time. I think that if this one hits on the tropes you like in romance, this is probably a quick, fun, potato-chip-of-smut read. For me, unfortunately, I just couldn't really enjoy it due to a combination of my squicky tropes and not connecting with the writing style.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an eArc of this book!

WOW. HOT. The spice was amazing, lots of good tension. Characters were very cute together and full of chemistry. Has some fun scenes and is a light fast read.

This was a charming but quick contemporary romance. I loved all the characters (I am excited to read about the side characters in the upcoming books); the chemistry between Bridget and Maverick was off the charts. The major problem I had with this one was the insta-love. Maverick basically sees her and instantly falls for her, and Bridget is not much different. The story is a total of 5 days. It felt a little over the top.

Thank you to Netgalley and Valentine PR & Literary Management for this ARC.

I loved this book so much that I binged it! Great characters that leave you hot and great storyline. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

I am slut for a book with a bucket list. Make that a spicy bucket list with your boss? Sign me up. Seriously, this was spicy (4.5 🌶️ for me personally) and cute! I love a book that immediately you jump right in, and that gave exactly that. It reads super quick. It lost a star for me because while I love fast paced stores, this story spans a week. One trope I do not like is insta love, which this book pretty much is. BUT. That being said.. I still really enjoyed reading it. I didn’t love the cliffhanger, but in the end we all know what happens 😉. So if insta love isn’t your thing, but you want fast paced workplace romance (with a little age gap), then this book is probably for you!

This was a steamy book. Older boss has a thing for the cute girl he plowed into at the coffee shop. He can’t help but appreciate her looks and brains. Later when they meet again and it turns out he is her boss that doesn’t stop them from going after what they both want.

I'm not a big believer in the idea of "guilty pleasure" because you're allowed to like what you like without shame. With that being said, this book falls in line with those shows that typically fall in to the "guilty pleasure" spectrum. You know, like Gossip Girl, or The OC, etc. This book was:

- Not particularly well written
- Cringey
- Dramatic
- Not always cohesive

... but my god did I have a fun time reading it. This isn't a literary masterpiece by any stretch, but it is a fun, palette cleanser read with some fun spice. I'd definitely recommend if you're looking for a quick, easy read that doesn't need too much brain power to enjoy.

Hot. Dirty. Sexy. Amazing read. I loved alpha men and Vanessa knows how to write them. I love Mav's take charge and Bridget's shy personality. Her best friend Mallory is the best.

I love Maverick and Bridget

"Manhunt" is the first book in Vanessa Vale's On a Manhunt Series and tells the story of Maverick and Bridget.

"Manhunt" is an amazing insta-love story. After one page I was already knee deep in the story.

Bridget is a math whiz, and she works in a construction company. She is quite nerdy and shy when it comes to men. However, when it comes to numbers, she exudes a confidence that puts everyone to shame.
I love Mav and Bridget’s meet cute! I really enjoyed the steam, the little banter and Maverick as an alpha hero.
Maverick is an alpha like character, and he is quite the cutie. I fell head over heels in love with him. He is a few years older than Bridget and her new boss. Heart of Gold.

For me, "Manhunt" was a hot and successful series opener that had me excited except for the ending, which came rather abruptly and left some questions unanswered.

I give "Manhunt" by Vanessa Vale 4 out of 5 stars.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with am ARC.

Rating: 3.75 ⭐️
Spice: 5 🌶️

This book was a quick, fun, spicy read that kept me glued to the pages right until the end! The character development felt well flushed out for as short as the story was and I really appreciated that I had an understanding of their motivations as things progressed.

While the story was definitely a good time, I found a few elements to be a little difficult to wrap my head around because they felt a little unbelievable, mainly with Bridget’s choices following the email that starts us off, and the interactions she has following that event. HOWEVER, that didn’t deter me from reading and it didn’t lessen the impact overall.

I really enjoyed the banter and the humor that Maverick (our MMC) had with his brothers. I also really enjoyed the level of respect shown to Bridget (FMC).

The spice was top notch and while it had some “taboo” elements (age gap being the most prominent), it was done in a way that I really liked and felt more approachable for those who would not consider that a trope they normally gravitate toward.

If you enjoy a good spicy read with a fast paced story, you will enjoy this!

Thank you to the author and NetGalley for the eARC, I enjoyed this book and I’m thankful for the opportunity to read and review!

4⭐️ I expected a quick and spicy summertime read and that’s exactly what I got.

I flew through this. Not a whole lot of thinking here, very by the book as far as romances go. Predictable but still entertaining and the spice was yummy. Love me a dirty talking MMC.

Oh. My. God.

This book was super steamy, and I’m pretty sure I was blushing the entire time I was reading it.

Bridget has been done wrong in the past by men. When she accidentally sends a sex quiz to her boss, Maverick, everything changes.

Maverick aims to please. He wants to show Bridget things she’s only ever dreamed of. I really enjoyed seeing Bridget open up and see that not all men are like the men she’s encountered in her past. Maverick would do ANYTHING for her. It was love at first coffee spill for this couple, and I love it! Normally, I’m not a fan of love at first sight, but I really liked this one.

If you’re looking for a quick and steamy read, this is the book for you.

I want to extend a huge thank you to NetGalley for providing me with the opportunity to read and review this book.

This was the first book I've read by Vanessa Vale, and I loved it! It was so funny!

The moment he called her baby, I was all in. That is a magic word for me. Whew!

Bridget was the perfect dose of sweetness to Maverick's gruffness.

I swooned. I laughed. I devoured it.

The side characters were all great too. I will definitely be reading the rest of this series as soon as I can get my hands on them.

P.S. I totally imagine Mallory singing this every morning. IYKYK.

Totally loved this one. If I could rattle off everything that was good about it I'd still be here tomorrow. The writing was effortless. It just flowed. It had so many of my favourite tropes. I just loved it

I really enjoyed this read! It was very fast paced, and I flew through the book! The story is a great one, and had me constantly turning the pages wanting to know more. Bridget’s friend sends her a sex quiz, inspired buy the movie 16 candles. Unfortunately for Bridget, she accidentally sends her filled out quiz to her boss, Maverick. unbeknownst to Maverick, his employee, Bridget, is the attractive girl he had a connection with at a coffee shop hours back! I loved how hard he tried to convince Bridget to be with him! Bridget has been burned before and is hesitant to be with Maverick. He was so confident about the two of them together. I loved that he didn’t want them to hide. I also liked how supportive Maverick was of Bridget. He thought she was so smart and wanted the world for her! This book has some amazing steamy scenes! I was all here for it!
I wasn’t the biggest fan of the ending. I found the drama a little too, over the top, and then everything concluded too fast for me. I wish we had gotten a little bit more communication from Maverick.
I’m definitely excited to read the rest of the books in this series!

Bridget has returned to her small Montana hometown with little fanfare, having left MIT without receiving her degree. Her much older sister/surrogate mother, Lindy, doesn't understand why she's now wasting her life working as an assistant at a construction company, a job she's vastly overqualified for. When Maverick James, the attractive owner of the company, comes to town, Bridget finds her life turned upside down.

Manhunt was short and steamy, with all of the events taking place in under a week, which doesn't leave a lot of room for plot or character development. Maverick and Bridget definitely had a serious case of insta-love and not much else. I'm assuming there will be books for each of Maverick's brothers, and I'm really hoping one of them ends up with Bridget's friend Mallory, as she was one of the funniest characters in the book.

With the sex quiz reference in the blurb, I really was expecting a lot more Sixteen Candles references, or even more eighties movies callbacks. Instead, it ended up being a very small plot device to bring Bridget and Maverick together after their meet-cute at the coffee shop. I didn't mind the age-gap, but Maverick bringing it up every few pages and calling her "baby" right after meeting her did give me the ick. It seemed at some points that he more wanted someone to take care of and protect, rather than an equal partner in life.

Spicy age gap romance that didn’t disappoint.
Maverick is the perfect blend of possessive and caring which made for some fantastic spice
