I had fun reading this. It was entertaining. Not the best, but definitely enjoyable. Well worth the time if you don’t dive into too much expectation.

This book has drama and action.
It is full of twists and turns.
Ana doesn't know who to trust and sometimes doesn't have the strength to trust her own judgement. She is full of self doubt.
Will she survive the battle and be the queen she needs to be

It does start off slow but then again it is a story built up til it gets to the action. I enjoyed this story. At first I found Ana to be too sensitive and emotional, but it was great to see her develop into a strong lead female.
I absolutely loved the two side characters Kara and Evren.
This is a fast-paced novel and I enjoyed reading it. The title of the book is suitable. The writing style of the author is amazing. The storyline is interesting and it kept me on the edge of my seat until the last page.
THE ENDING😭

The first half of the book was an extremely mundane romance. <spoiler>The relationship between Rafe and Ana is so dysfunctional. She is extremely traumatised and the co-dependency is extremely unhealthy. She relies on him way too often to give her comfort, and he’s one of the only people who can comfort her. A traumatised person obviously goes through a lot and can be triggered at any moment but Ana is non-stop triggered every other page throughout the entire book. It just diminishes trauma for me as someone who is traumatised being just a delicate little damsel who needs rescuing all the time; rather than someone who is a survivor with a certain level of strength and self-reliance/self-soothing but can get through a day without completely breaking down, and sometimes gets triggered and leans on the people they trust for support when they need it.</spoiler> I also didn’t buy their connection, it just didn’t hit for me so I just didn’t believe in their feelings for each other. The fantasy doesn’t come in until about ½ way through and whilst I LOVED the premise of it and the ideas within the world that the writer built, the payoff in the world-building just didn’t get there for me. I couldn’t imagine myself in the world as I usually can, which was a massive shame, because the ideas about the world were so intriguing. Overall, I did enjoy the book but it fell short in a lot of areas. The cliffhanger was very good and there was a nice little twist (I had figured it out already but it was good and unexpected for most I imagine), and I would read the second book.

DNF at 44%. I tried really hard to finish this book. I read that there was a big plot twist at 30% so i pushed through despite constantly not wanting to.

Ana is the FMC who has some severe mental health struggles, yet at no point is it mentioned that she is in therapy despite her constantly throwing up and crying over the smallest inconvenience and needing regular validation from the MMC (it seemed like at some points she was over reacting to something every other page. And not in a humurous way). I thought that after the plot twist she might change, but nope. After that she was just the same, but now on a power trip. It also read like a play, which just isnt my thing.

One good thing about the book, is that I really didnt see the plot twist coming, even though i knew that there was one. I enjoyed that surprise.

This book is a quick read because it is that good. The love story between Rafe and Ana that turns into a fantasy. It leaves you hanging wanting more.
Thankfully there is a second book to this saga to enjoy.

Intriguing story of a relatable female heroine called Ana who is saved by Rafe, a frustratingly sweet army medic. I was pleasantly surprised when around 25% into the book, it turned into pure fantasy!
The book is fast paced, Full of action and plot twists. I especially loved that the evil character is truly one you can hate!
Enjoyable and looking forward to book 2.

I unfortunately was not able to finish this one. I had high hopes after reading the description, but the writing just isn't working for me. It feels a little scattered, and I was having a hard time following the plot. It felt a little rough and like it could have been tightened up a bit more.

I tried so hard to like this but was sadly unable to.

The prose is very juvenile, and it is clear to me that further editing needed to be done to cut out some of the unnecessary paragraphs that took me out of the story.

The characters were interesting to read about. Both their personalities on their own and the relationship dynamic between them were some of the few things I liked about the book.

However as much as I love character driven stories it's impossible to not take into account the mediocre writing along with the plot being completely inconsistent regarding the pace.

The book certainly needs a better cover, but I requested because the blurb seemed intriguing. But I couldn't connect with the writing. It reads like a play. Things happening too fast, too many unnecessary, repetitive dialogues.

While the book doesn't grab your attention from the start, just when you think you know the characters well enough is when you're caught off-guard by a fantastical plot twist. Kaufer has found just the right way of getting a reader to go from what one may call a "slow start" to reading page upon page to find out what comes next in this story. Although she leaves us with a cliffhanger, seeing that this is just the first book in its series, I cannot wait to get my hands on the rest of her books to see how this story will unfold.

I would recommend this book to just about anyone. If you enjoy fiction, romance, and fantasy and especially love a good plot twist, then "Courting Fate" is the book for you! Follow the rest of its series and watch how the story unfolds.

This book was very confusing at some parts because of how much it jumped around. I liked the characters for the most part and it was a good story just felt very undeveloped. I’m undecided on if I will pick up the next book.
