Well the story has some humor to it, which is good for most books. The characters are entertaining and great addition to the plot. Having kids incorporated into the story was even funnier. The story is a page turner with some good entertainment. I was content on how the story ended. Elian’s Amelia romance is sweet and very exciting to read. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Picking the Wrong Pocket

Amelia made her living by stealing from the rich, and she finally picked the wrong pocket. Eli was not going to allow the thief to get away with stealing his watch. Instead of turning her over to the constable, he made a bargain with her. He would forgo her arrest if she came with him to his estate and told his daughters about her life. Perhaps, learning about her difficult living might curb their adventurous spirits. Little did he know that Amelia would steal his and his children's hearts, for she was no ordinary thief. When Amelia joined Eli at his estate, she unknowingly brought trouble with her. She might have wanted to give up thievery, but those who benefited from her stealing might not have wanted to give her up so easily. I really enjoyed this story. It had adventure, mystery, romance, and suspense. What were Amelia's secrets? Amelia thought she picked the wrong pocket and got tangled up with the wrong man, but did she pick exactly the right pocket? If you like historical romance, where the hero and heroine do not meat in a ballroom or drawing room, you might want to read this entertaining tale.

This is the second book of The Eglinton Knight series. This story has a unique plot in that it features a female thief. Amelia is a master swindler and when the Eglinton tournament is announced, she decides to travel to Scotland and take advantage of the goldmine she is sure to find. But when she starts working her magic, she unfortunately picks the wrong pocket. When Lord Eli catches her red-handed, he has an idea to use her as a way to put some fear into his two hoyden daughters. If Amelia wants to avoid the noose, then she has to accompany him home and tell his girls all about her dangerous life as part of a powerful gang. Eli can't help himself as he enjoys the colorful tales Amelia tells and becomes captivated by her. Amelia also develops a strong attraction to Eli, but when her past deeds catch up to her, she begins to re-examine her life and wonder if a better one with Eli and his family is possible.
The story was interesting and well-written and kept me engaged the whole time. The characters endearing and well-developed and I enjoyed getting to know them. A very delightful addition to the series!

I Loved It! Knight of the Broken Heart is one of those books you just can't put down. Amelia is a spunky and witty pickpocket who has one plan after getting caught, make Lord Eli, Viscount Barrington life anything but staid. Margaux Thorne has filled it with great cast of characters that come off the pages and pull you into this emotional ride that keeps you involved until the very end, tension building twists, witty banter with laughing out loud times, and you just have to love angelic twins, and one fantastic plot.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily reviewing it.

Knight of the Broken Heart by Margaux Thorne is the story of a pickpocket, Amelia, and Lord Eli. Eli had three children: Michael and younger twin daughters. When she tried the ruse she had used so many times, that of a pregnant lady, she failed with him. Instead of handing her over to the constable, he took her home to help with his girls. The girls were hard on governesses: nine in nine months. Amelia could help until he could find a new one. It turned out to work quite well and they fell in love. Amelia’a partner, Jenny, had escaped and presumably gone back to London, to the woman who housed and fed them all. Things came into focus when Eli took Amelia to London to pay the debt she had incurred when trying to open a flower shop. Many things came to light then.

It was a different kind of story. Not too often a pickpocket marries into the nobility. The girls turned out to be wonderful, just craving attention. The plot was well-timed and the pace was quite good. The characters were different and entertaining. Amelia got hers in the end. Good book.

Amelia Driver has learned to live as a member of one the most powerful girl gangs in London. Caught stealing a pocket watch from Lord Eli, Viscount Barrington, she's looking at going to jail or exported. Eli's wife died and left him and their three children eight years ago. He didn't have any example of being a father. Neglected children cause problems for attention. He makes a bargain for Amelia to become his twin daughters' governess and a friend to his young son. She may be a thief, but she has compassion for Eli and his children. A threat hangs over her head and brings serious trouble. When an Earl and a reformed thief fall in love, anything is possible. Written with laughter and tears with the perfect epilogue.. Enemies to lovers in Victorian England.

This book for me started extremely slow. I almost stopped reading especially after there was a steamy scene right at first. But I persevered. After he takes her to his house things get quite interesting and I really enjoyed the epilogue. I skipped over the steamy scenes and enjoyed the story.
I recieved a free copy so that I might tell you what I honestly think. Hope you enjoyed my review. Now go enjoy the book

When Amelia Driver attempts to swindle Lord Eli, Viscount Barrington of his priceless time piece, at the Eglinton Tournament, she realises that she might have pushed fate once too many times. Eli finds himself in an interesting situation when he confronts Amelia with her theft. He develops a plan to scare his hoyden twin daughters by forcing Amelia to teach his daughters about her life of sin. Despite being a member of the most powerful girl gangs in London, she finds herself questioning her life, as she becomes part of Eli’s family, and he finds himself beginning to enjoy Amelia’s colourful tales. When Amelia’s past invades her new life, she finds herself questioning all that she thought possible.
I loved the first book in the series, so I was excited to see how this book connected. This is a stand-alone story which is cleverly interwoven into the Eglinton Tournament. The meeting of Amelia and Eli is an unusual start to a romance, and whilst the plot was predictable, the characters made this an enjoyable read. The secondary characters are well developed, and Eli’s children quite entertaining.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

London pickpocket Amelia Driver has travelled a long way to make the most of a huge tournament. Lots of rich folk about for her and her partner to relieve of goodies.
Lord Eli, Viscount Barrington has bribed his son into studying more, by bringing him to a tournament. Things are not going his way.
A very amusing historical romance with fabulous characters. Lots of mischief for them all, with some danger and emotional times.
It is part of a series but easily read on its own.
Good fun.

The second book of the series and it’s easily read on its own. A well written romance with strong characters who on the whole are very likeable. The main characters and the world they live in are so beautifully crafted. Their relationship and the family dynamic is real. A kind of slow burn with some mystery as well as romance. A delightful mix of romance, some mystery interlaced with some humour and a lovely epilogue. Perfect for fans of: Enemies to lovers, forced proximity, single father.

If you like me didn’t read the first book, the second one is a little of a challenge to read since you are not familiar with the story however once you are halfway in, is pretty easy to read.

Amelia Driver never shies away from an opportunity, and when the Eglinton Tournament is announced, she recognizes it for the goldmine that it is. A member of one of the most powerful girl gangs in London, Amelia travels to Scotland planning to swindle unsuspecting spectators. Unfortunately for her, she picks the wrong pocket. To appease his son’s obsession with knights, Lord Eli, Viscount Barrington, shuttles him to the medieval tournament even though he has much more important things to do—like keep his daughters out of trouble. When Eli encounters Amelia with her hands not where they should be, he develops a plan for the brilliant thief to scare his hoyden daughters straight. In exchange for keeping her neck out of the hangman’s noose, Amelia must follow Eli back to his estate and teach his daughters about her life of sin and depravity.
The second book of the series & it’s easily read on its own. A well written romance with strong characters who on the whole are very likeable. A fast paced book with some mystery as well as romance. I loved both Eli & Amelia & thoroughly enjoyed their journey to a HEA, it was a bit different. I loved that there was no miscommunication, a definite plus! Their chemistry sizzled plus his children loved her but she has a past. A delightful mix of romance, some mystery interlaced with some humour & a lovely epilogue
My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

A well written story that kept my interest from the start. It has a mystery involved which is just my cup of tea. The character's are likeable and the way they meet is quite unusual which makes a nice change. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Amelia Driver is a thief who had the misfortune of picking the pocket of the most stubborn Lord Eli, Viscount of Barrington. He decides that she would make a great precautionary tale for his daughter's, so he strikes a deal with her.

This is a very enjoyable book. The story is ofcourse predictable. They fall in love, and she gets along with all the children. But it's very well written and keeps you engaged. All the characters are endearing (except Walter and Jenny). With a few good laugh out loud moments. And the epilogue, that was epic.

I've already brought the rest of the authors books on Amazon and can't wait to dig in.

Thank you, Netgalley, and the publisher for this ARC. Opinions are my own.

Life is not always fair or easy. She tried to do it the honest way, but failed, and a girl’s gotta do do what a girl’s gotta do to survive. Pickpocketing to pay off her debts, Amelia Driver is the best in the business, and the crowd at the Eglinton Tournament an easy target. On second thought, she should have quit while ahead. She barely got away from him while stealing his precious pocket watch, but he followed and caught her…

Nine years since his wife left him and the children ; twins Kitty and Cecily, and Michael. Eight since he, Eli, Viscount Barrington, became a widower. Taking the little thief home might not be his brightest idea, but leaving her at the whims of the local constable wasn’t either. It was his atonement for last night and hers for deceiving him. And besides, she might just be the one to tame his hellions.

She loves flowers, he’s a botanist. They both suffered tremendous loss in their youth, and even though their upbringing couldn’t be more different, they’re more alike then they’re willing to admit. She’s not afraid of him and he can’t seem to stay away from her. She’s beautiful, brave, clever and strong. His children love her. She’s exactly what they need. Exactly what he needs…
A fiend, her nefarious past and her unpaid debts still loom over her. Will she save herself? Or could he be her knight in shining armour?

📚 Completely absorbed by this riveting tale, I read it in one sitting! The main characters and the world they live in are so beautifully crafted. Their relationship and the family dynamic is real. No silliness, no miscommunication. This story is touching, playful, tough, funny, sad and incredibly romantic. A Victorian fairytale!
📚 Enemies to lovers, forced proximity, open door, steamy, single father, pickpocket heroine, slow burn

Thank you to Margaux Thorne, Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley for this eARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

Thieves, Lessons, Flowers:
I must say this story has a plot and characters like no other I have ever read before.
A surprise beginning brings forth a different element I would usually not find in a historical romance story.
Amelia has a very shaded past and present day means of surviving which Molly her mother-like figure taught her.
The unpleasant way she meets Eli is quite unscrupulous. From there they start a journey that involves the earl's family and Amelia's sordid family as well.
Challenges galore await both Eli and Amelia which they meet head on to make this a very fast-moving mystery romance story that is filled with humor, cleverness, obsessive compulsiveness, passionate desire that was quite needed to keep my attention.
I enjoyed reading this very intricately detailed romance story that involves family, friends good and bad.
