I did not finish this beyond the first chapter, but I still felt it necessary to give this feedback. This book is marketed as a general piece on democracy and elections, and as an American, I assumed American democracy would be the focus. This isn’t the case, and it was very upsetting for me to discover. I wish the blurb on the back revealed that it focuses on English government.

This is a UK book and focused on UK politics, which wasn't clear from the blurb. I only got in a few pages and the author was complaining about pandemic lockdowns of "innocent, healthy people". To me, this has "crank" written all over it. I was hoping for a general book about getting power into the hands of voters and overcoming things like gerrymandering and entrenched hierarchical structures, and other ideas that are broadly applicable. I didn't read any further. Needs a new blurb that more accurately reflects the content.
