This is the fifth book in Stieg Larson's Millennium series and the second novel by Swedish author David Lagercrantz. In light of the much anticipated The Girl in the Eagle's Talons soon to be released, I read The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye and The Girl Who Loves Twice.

This was the more enjoyable of the two, possibly because the plot is more intertwined with Lisbeth Salander's life. The complex plot was intriguing and I've found myself wondering if there was some truth in the thread concerning experiments conducted on twins. Of course commentary on social issues in Sweden was at the core of the original Stieg Larson so readers will expect the same from Lagercrantz.

Even though the story unfolds rather slow, with it's consistent tension, it still manages to be engrossing. Although all the Millennium books could in theory be read as stand-alone I do think that there is some character development that a reader might enjoy if they're read in order. This is also especially true of the relationship between Mikael and Lisbeth.
