That was an amazing ride and may have gotten me back into reading from my awkward hiatus of enjoying books.

Celeb Big Brother, Haunted Escape Room, & Saw?! Pop off sign me up.
I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and for a portion of the book I couldn’t tell what was real and what was fake. I loved that!
I think some of the ending stuff was rushed or just not connecting in my brain, but that’s okay I still liked it.
A new to me author and definitely one I will return to!!

I find myself utterly astounded by the captivating nature of this book. The premise, featuring a haunted hotel and seven celebrities participating in a live reality horror TV show titled "Slashtag," is undeniably unique and enthralling. The narrative is a tapestry of darkness and intensity, and it possesses an addictive quality that makes it difficult to set aside. Beyond its gripping elements, it also presents a level of emotional depth through its well-crafted cast of characters, each of whom you can't help but become deeply attached to. Towards the conclusion, I found it nearly impossible to put the book down, an experience that far exceeded my initial expectations. I anticipated enjoying this book based on its premise, but I never foresaw the level of obsession it would ignite within me. If given the opportunity, I would eagerly sign up to participate in a "Slashtag" experience.

For avid fans of horror, I wholeheartedly recommend this exceptional work. I am confident that it will swiftly become an all-consuming passion for anyone delving into its pages. I eagerly anticipate my next literary journey with Jon Cohn and extend my heartfelt gratitude to the author for creating this exceptional piece. Special thanks are also due to @netgalley and the publisher for granting me the privilege of reviewing this remarkable book through an advanced reader's copy.

I feel that the intriguing storyline did not let me down at all. I enjoyed that it included the concept of celebrities and influencers, such is so in demand at the moment yet it mixed it with a paranormal ghost story that is part truth part fiction. Throw in an escape room which was relevant not too long ago and you struck gold...I enjoyed the characters, the writing, the storyline, and everything. I'm so thankful to have been chosen to read this

I’m reading the story and the story hasn’t really grabbed me into the story. I read a lot of dialogue between the characters, but nothing to intense. I waited on the house or the characters to represent the title of SlashTag , but nothing. The emails are entertaining.I received a copy of this book for a voluntary honest review

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for this arc.
I thought it was a great horror read with some characters that I was both rooting to survive and some that I was against.

The format of the book is really impressive with mixed media, it reminded me a lot of the Murdertrending series which I loved.

The last half of the book took a supernatural turn that I was not super happy with, it reminded me of Hide and Seek which was done tastefully, this book needed to take a few notes from the movie.

I wish the ending was fleshed out a little bit more and that the supernatural curse was introduced in the beginning of the book as background.

I was very impressed that the author was also a game designer and I have been wanting to purchase Grind House for awhile, the book is a good way to promote the game and it was a nice way to tie things together.

Ok. I am so mad at myself for taking so long to choose this one from my shelf. This book is SO GOOD. Seriously. Fans of horror, fans of cabin in the woods, ppl who liked Hide (Kiersten White, but needed more horror) you will love this. The writing is fast paced, the story is gripping. I am flying thru is 400+ page book and not looking back. Thank you so much Net Galley & Bookbuzz for allowing me to read and review this book as I wouldn’t have learned about it otherwise. So looking forward to picking up more by Jon Cohn

This was a great ride. I loved the characters, the story, & the ending. I love April! Great for fans of Scream, Cabin In the Woods, or Saw. I was in a slow reading phase but finished this in like 3 days.

Ok, so I completely loved this, am a little obsessed, need more of it in my life, can't wait for the movie, etc etc This is one hundred percent House on Haunted Hill (1999) but at HH Holmes murder mansion, through the lens of Big Brother. And surprisingly it's not as derivative as I expected, with there being enough originality that the references really do come across as homages.

What sort of homages? The main bad guy throughout the story is the ghost of an HH Holmes-esque serial killer called Arthur Wilson. When he appears he is described very similary to the visual gag of Jeffrey Combs' Dr. Vannacutt. He goes by the pseudonym Sutter at one point. Just these little nods here and there, which makes even more sense because the main character, Tawny, is a big fan of horror too, and she uses that knowledge to help her in the game.

Of course there are twists and turns, none of which are true shocks, but as the novel goes on and everything goes off the rails and the tension and action escalate... it all works! I especially love the unexpected ending, it's a bit "who's watching the Watchmen", without spoiling anything too much lol

That's something Jon Cohn really succeeds with here, in my opinion - even though you can pretty reliably predict where the story is going (most of the time), you still want to keep reading because that predictability is interspersed with surprises. Plus it's just an exciting read! I'm sad to be done with it after drawing it out as long as I could bear.

This one is a big rec for horror lovers.

When I tell you that I am not a horror reader, I am NOT a horror reader. But this is the second novel that I've read from Jon Cohn, and he might be coaxing me over to the dark side.
The way he fleshed out the storyline and the character development in this book was chef's kiss, and I can't wait to see what he comes up with next.
I devoured this book in one sitting, and as on the edge of my seat the entire time.
If you take Cabin in the Woods, Survivor, Big Brother, and a slight touch of the Saw franchise and roll them all into one, you've got Slashtag.
This will easily be a horror reader's favorite book this year. And I plan on gifting them to my readers friends for Halloween!
Five stars!

Thanks NetGalley for this ARC!

Slashtag follows a bunch of reality tv stars and influencers as they take on a haunted house for a new reality show. This is a fun, well written, cinematic feeling story that has plenty of action and just enough gore to keep you going. Would definitely recommend this book and will also definitely read more by this author.

Slashtag is an adult fiction horror/thriller by author Jon Cohn.

Slashtag is a new reality show which puts seven celebrities in a haunted hotel called the Propritius
Hotel. Here in this hotel, Arthur Wilson tortured and murdered his victims for over twenty years. The hotel has long since been abandoned and is said to be haunted by Arthur Wilson’s ghost.

As part of a new reality show, seven celebrities agree to stay in the hotel and compete in a live streamed competition. There are a series of clues and puzzles that lead them all around the hotel in an effort to rid the hotel of Arthur’s spirit.

The book is told from the perspective of Tawny, one of the contestants who was reluctant to participate but was offered something she couldn’t turn down. Tawny’s sister April gives another POV from outside of the house. We also have chapters of email correspondence from the networks executives which show us what is going on behind the scenes.

Soon, the celebrities find out just how real Slashtag is and that they are in serious danger.

I really liked that we got POVs from inside and outside the house as well as a look behind the scenes. I also really liked all of the seven contestants and Tawny’s sister April. The characters were well written and all fun to follow.

This was a fun read with lots of pop culture references to different horror movies. I usually do not read horror, but the premise really interested me and it sounded very unique. As a slasher type book, it got a little gory but there were also some humorous parts as well. I did not find it overly scary or disturbing.

Thank you to Netgalley and Deadbolt books for this ARC in exchange for review.

Slashtag by Jon Cohn was received directly from the publisher and I chose to review it. I had never read the authors works before and I would seek out more of his works. The horror novel moves at a fast pace and did not bore me, which so many modern books tend to do. From page one the pages keep turning well into the night as social media "influencers," meet entities that don't seem to really care about their influence on modern society. If you, or someone you buy gifts for liked a haunted house/slasher/ghost type story, give this book a read.

Oh my God, this was fun. Like, please sir...may I have another?

This is a slash, boom, crunch kind of read with gruesome kills, entertaining characters, and a whole host of sliced and diced Influencers (the best kind).

Definitely have your popcorn read and come with a sense of humor and adventure.

An absolute blast of a read!

You ever wonder what would happen if celebrities signed up for a horror reality show, but they ended up being in a real life version of “Saw” instead?! Read Slashtag.

Our setting is the Propitius Hotel which was owned by a famous serial killer named Arthur Wilson. Arthur Wilson’s spirit is brought home to the Propitius Hotel to kill off our beloved celebrities. They are working together to solve a serious of puzzles to banish his spirit. You are so engrossed in the book trying to figure out who, if anyone, will make it out alive.

I really liked how this book had a website and podcast you could follow along with! I have never had a book go that extra mile before, so cool! This book was unlike anything I’ve read before. It was nice to have a refreshing taste of originality.

The only reason it is not a 5 ⭐ read for me is that it was sometimes hard to follow along with what was going on without a visual. I think this book would be a rare case of a movie being better than the book. I would love to see if they end up making this into a movie in the future!

Wow I am in absolute shock, this was wild!!!

What a cool concept, a haunted hotel, seven celebrities on a live reality horror tv show called “Slashtag”. Who needs more?!

It was dark, intense and very addicting! It was also emotional with a great cast of characters that you could fell in love with.
I could not not put the book down especially towards the end! It’s insane I expected to like this book based on the premise of it, but wow I didn’t expected to become so obsessed with the book that I am now! I literally would just sign up to participate in Slashtag if I could!

I need more stories like this! I’m pretty sure Slashtag just became my new favorite book, maybe all time favorite as well!

I literally loved everything about this, the storyline, the writing the characters, everything was perfect.

I highly highly recommend this brilliant book to any horror fan! I can guarantee it will become your new obsession! I need to read another book by Jon Cohn ASAP!

I want to thank the author for writing this spectacular book, I had the most amazing time while reading this story I’m never going to forget it!

Thank you so much @netgalley and the publisher for providing me an ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review.

Slashtag is what you would get if you mixed a horror flick with an escape room and the reality show Celebrity Big Brother. (I know, hectic, right?) Essentially, it’s about a horror reality TV show that places a group of celebrities into a haunted hotel that was, once upon a time, the hunting grounds for a serial killer. It primarily follows Tawney Howlett, a squeaky clean Lifestyle Guru who has just had a major hit to her pubic image and is propelled onto the show as a kind of penance to her fans.

This one was a rollercoaster of a ride! The setting was ominous, the characters were intriguing, and it kept me guessing to the very end. One of my favorite things about this book was the multimedia component of the story. While it’s told mainly from Tawney’s perspective, every few chapters, there’s an email chain included between the directors, producers, etc. of the Slashtag where you get a behind the scenes look at the inner workings of the show. It was dripping in dramatic irony. I also loved the complexity of all of the characters, even if I didn’t love all of the characters. Just among the celebrities on the show, you had a anonymous chef who wears a mask to cloak his identity, a gay black football player kicked out of the league for dating his teammate, a creepy former child actor who’d played the serial killer haunting the house in a movie, and so many more. It was just as fun trying to guess the characters motives for going on the show as it was trying to figure out what was real and not. I appreciated the nuanced social commentary especially as many of the characters were coming from a place of privilege, as well as a spooky take on where social media might head (i.e. a social media mass merger). The only difficulties I had with this book was some of the pacing and a few plot nitpicks.

If the premise appeals to you, I say go for it. If you like serial killers, hauntings, escape rooms, slashers, etc. etc., I’d definitely recommend. It got a little hectic at the end, but overall, this was a fun ride!
