This fun book brings us back to ancient Egypt, where it is so different from four-seasons countries. There they have to make the windows so small, to avoid heat coming in the house, for example. Or the water are scarce, despite living next to the big Nile river. I learned so many things, and kept being amazed by the culture of ancient Egypt. Though it is not thorough, but it is a fun read.

A fantastically fun book and an excellent author-illustrator partnership. The art pulled me in IMMEDIATELY. I mean LOOK AT IT. It's absolutely brilliant. Every page is a marvel. It's got a great level of detail for young readers too - lots to learn and look at but never gets too bogged down. Altogether, a brilliant book that my two young historians are going to love. I'll be keeping an eye out for more in this series.

I received this ARC thanks to Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I honestly don't know if I liked this book. I read it twice, and I can't put my finger on what I dislike. I think it's just that I'm too cynical. I can't imagine two kids from the future and two kids from the past just talking like friends.

I would have it in a classroom, though, because there is a lot of amazing information, and perhaps it will relate to children better then 39 year olds

Time Travel Sleepover: Ancient Egypt
In Timothy Knapman’s book, we meet the time travelers: Jake, Lula, and Clawdia (the cat). The Time Travel Sleepover starts with a shimmy and they are welcomed to Ancient Egypt. Upon arriving they meet Tuya and Senbi.

While they’re visiting Ancient Egypt they experience and learn all about how people lived during that time. Your children will learn about the in and outs of an Egyptian house. The games the children play, what they wore, what the adults wore, and the jewelry’s meanings. You explore alongside Jake, Lula, and Clawdia all about the Nile River, and what they would eat. Interested in what they would do in school in Ancient Egypt? You get to learn about that too. From jobs to visiting the doctor, and learning about the Gods they worshipped during those times. Time Travel Sleepover: Ancient Egypt is full of interesting facts that will inspire your child to learn more about Ancient Egypt and join the time travelers on their next adventure.

Book Review
Your child will love this book! Personally, I think this sort of storytelling is the best way for young children to learn history. It’s immersive, funny, and educational. The story is fun and engaging. And the illustrations are fantastic, there is so much to see on each page. This children’s book can be a gateway to other educational activities. Take the section on the Gods and make a short study on their favorites. Or find some white bedsheets and create their own Egyptian attire. The experiences to have are endless.

A very fun way to learn! The illustrations were bright and bold and the text was interesting and concise. I didn't love nonfiction as a child, but I think I would have enjoyed them more if there had been more like this. It's also somewhat interactive, which is an exciting way to get children involved and excited about learning!

🧳 What a fun way to learn about another country and culture!

🧳 This book is about two modern-day children (and their cat) who can travel through time. They travel to Ancient Egypt where they meet two Egyptian children and their parents and learn all about their daily lives.

🧳 There is a ton of interesting and fun information in this book! Young readers will absolutely learn something about Ancient Egypt – no, actually, they will learn a lot! This book should be in every classroom!

🧳 The illustrations are fun and engaging!

🧳 This book appears to be the first in a planned series of books. I am looking forward to where they go next.

🧳 If your child enjoys time travel, history, and learning about different cultures, then this book is a must-have!

Thank you @Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group/Frances Lincoln Children’s Books/Happy Yak for an eARC of this book, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This book will be perfect for my Ancient Egypt unit. It is colorful, labeled, and has minimal text. The students will love the diagrams.

Review to come end of July closer to the release day on my blog/goodreads.

I love sleepovers (I miss those days) and I love Ancient Egypt. So I just had to click that request button so fast!

In this book we follow Jake and Lula along with Clawdia as they go for a sleepover to Ancient Egypt. Yep! I know what you are thinking, my dear blogreaders. How does one from the modern times go to Ancient Egypt and for a sleepover even? Well the book has some funny and clear instructions on that one, you just wiggle your butt, spin around while wrinkling your nose, and some more moves and there is a portal! I am not sure how you make sure you travel to the right time, but I guess a lot of thinking?

Anyways, our duo (along with cute kitty) is in Egypt and we follow them as they meet Tuya and Senbi and go with them to their house and more! I really loved that these two instantly made friends as soon as they came out of a portal. And then the fun starts because we follow the duo and their new friends and learn all about Egypt. From homes to clothes to food and more. It was really fun how it was all done, really integrating it in the story. I loved how Jake and Lula are very eager and curious to learn all about Egypt. OK, sometimes they wish they weren't, given that they even helped out with chores and work. Haha. And eventually we get to the midnight feast and the sleeping over~

Even Clawdia makes a friend! Yep, Nebet makes an appearance and it is clear that Clawdia quite likes how Egyptians worship their cats.

The art in this one was just so fun and I love the style! So colourful, full of details.

All in all, I hope that we see Tuya and Senbi again and I also hope that Lula and Jake have many more sleepover adventures. I cannot wait to see what is next for them. Rome? Japan? Peru/South America? Please, more books!

I thought that this book was excellent

It was very easy to read and follow and there was plenty of fun detail and facts – I loved the way that the story was told as a day in the life of the Ancient Egyptians.

The book had some really lovely illustrations too I read the book with my five-year-old daughter who loved it.

The only thing I would recommend is that you grab a physical copy of the book, I read this one on my kindle and it was hard to read some of the pages and for me this is the kind of book that will be read time and time again, especially if this is a topic at school – definitely a book that needs to be in school libraries as well

It is 5 stars from me for this one, very highly recommended and a fun and informative read too!
