This was so good! It wasn't as good as What Lies In the Woods because for me it kind of lost steam in the middle, but this is still such a great thriller and I'm happy that we got another good one from KAM. I will be reading pretty much anything this author comes out with in the future!

I am absolutely obsessed with this book! I love thrillers especially those thrillers that can keep you guessing. And this was definitely one of them. Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen, I was shocked with another surprise twist!
The way that these twists were delivered was so unexpected and so well done. I love when an author can continuously leave you guessing and on the edge of your seat. That is the hallmark of an excellent thriller in my opinion.
10 out of 10 recommend this book for anyone who loves a good, unpredictable thriller. Thank you so much to Flatiron Books for an advanced copy of this book. I am absolutely honored to have been able to read and review it.

I've been listening to "What Lies In The Woods" by Kate Alice Marshall and was very excited to read another novel by her. This book has another set of intriguing characters with a gruesome mystery at the centre of it.
The story is told in alternating POVs and timelines (past and present), and it kept me hooked from the start. I liked how different each of the sisters were and how they behaved as well as the adults they turned out to be.
The story is as much about these girls/women as it is about the mystery of what happened the night their parents were killed.
There is an annoying character we have to endure for a while (you'll know who they are as soon as you meet them) and I thought the ending was not as great because the narration was off.
But overall, this is a book I enjoyed reading. I will definitely be reading more of the author's books.
3.5/5

Such a great popcorn thriller! This was super fast paced, never a dull moment. I loved the multiple POVs and the different timelines. It was never confusing or hard to keep up with. I had so much fun reading!

No one can know was an interesting book and took you on the different perspectives of the girls. While at some places it was a bit slow o really felt the need to keep going to find out truly what happened. There were some good twists but a few things I feel were thrown into the story that necessarily did not need to be in the story.
Overall it was a good psychological thriller and had good twists.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a digital arc of this book.
This one was a bit of a disappointment for me unfortunately. It started out promising but just lost my interest part of the way through. The beginning and the end were both interesting but I felt the middle part dragged a bit. There wasn't really a big reveal, or at least not one that I thought was a big reveal and shock factor. The addition of the flash drive plot line (no spoilers) felt like unnecessary plot filler, like it was just added for drama but not fleshed out enough to make sense to me, or for me to fully understand it and the significance. And it ended up not really mattering at the end anyways.
I almost DNFed but I will say that something this book does well is create questions that make you want to read more to get answers.
A couple things I enjoyed: I enjoyed the addition of the "then" chapters, and getting to see the sister's lives with their parents and the day the murders happened. It helped the reader to empathize with them and what they went through. I also enjoyed the tension throughout.
I really loved These Fleeting Shadows when I read it, so I'm excited to give this author another go and see if it's just a one off of me not enjoying this one.

This was an interesting murder mystery with a lot of twist and turns. It seemed like the author threw a little too much twists at you to intentionally confuse you and throw you off the trail. However, I still enjoyed it even when at times it felt a little too long and played out. I may read this one again to see if it still makes sense .
I did enjoy the way it was written. The author set the chapters up with different viewpoints from the sisters and with present viewpoints and past viewpoints. I never heard of the author, Kate Alice Marshall, before and will look into more of her books in the future.
Thank you for the advanced copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.
P.S.: For the editors: I found one typo: Location 2900 of 4458, In the first paragraph: "We need to make sure there is nothing that could bolster than suspicion."

✨ No One Can Know ✨
Genre- Mystery Thriller.
Length- 336 pages.
Holy twisty! This is a novel about three sisters, two murders and too many secrets to count! Down on their luck, Emma confesses to her husband that she actually owns a house with her two estranged sisters. They can’t sell it, but they can live in the house. Once they arrive at the sprawling mansion, Emma then admits that her parents were murdered and she’s the police’s main suspect!
I enjoyed this novel, but did find it a bit confusing. There are so many layers and lies that it was hard to keep the three sisters and their stories straight. The pacing also felt a little slower at the middle, but I was intrigued enough by the mystery to keep reading! Overall, I really enjoyed! Four stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Emma, Juliette, and Daphne's parents were murdered. Know one knows exactly what happened, and the sisters are not being fully honest about what went on that night. Years later, Emma moves back into her family's house with her husband after being down on her luck. Emma is now estranged from her sisters, and everyone blames her for her parents' death. Her moving back opens up old questions the sisters would rather not be brought up again.
This book was a decent and entertaining read. We flip between the points of view from all three sisters and between what happened then (when their parents were murdered) to now. I enjoyed digging through their thoughts and memories to figure out what was the truth and who might be hiding something. I also enjoyed the complicated but tragic relationship the girls had. I do wish, though, that there was a little more explanation/character development with Daphne. I felt like not everything was resolved with her.
The beginning of the story was intriguing and held my attention, but the book felt too long. There was a lot of circling around to get to who actually committed the murders that it dragged at points. This also made the ending confusing and disorienting. While it is a decent thriller, it's not my favorite.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book was a crazy and an exhilarating ride! It is full of twists, turns, it had me hooked from the beginning.
If you are a thriller lover I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!
thank you Netgalley and Flatiron Books for the ARC in exchange for a honest review.

This was a really solid mystery thriller and I’m interested now in looking into this author’s backlist. I liked the back and forth storytelling from past to present as we follow Emma whose parents were murdered when she was 16. Most people suspect she was the killer, but there was never enough evidence to convict her. As she moves back to her childhood home and becomes reacquainted with her estranged sisters, the chapters from the past unspool slowly, adding to the anticipation of reaching the night of the murders. I really liked how everything tied up at the end and I thought the pacing was good throughout.

Once you pick this book up, you won’t want to put it down. I finished this book almost in one sitting. Personally, I think I would have enjoyed this book even more if I did the audiobook but I was still entertained regardless. I just think audiobooks give thrillers an extra kick!
You realize very quickly in this book that you can trust absolutely no one. Everyone is keeping secrets. No one completely knows the whole truth about what happened that night. But I’m not going to lie I was starting to get whiplash from all the twists and turns. I really thought I knew who committed the murders but boy I was wrong.
The reason I couldn’t give this book 5 stars was some of the character choices didn’t make sense and the ending just didn’t work for me.
I am still obsessed with Kate Alice Marshall and I will read anything she writes moving forward but What Lies in the Woods is still my top book of hers.

Having loved the author's previous book, What Lies In The Woods, I was very excited to get my hands on an early copy of her newest novel, and it did not disappoint!
The story focuses on Emma, she's married to a husband who doesn't know much about her past. He is also hiding things from her and he ends up getting laid off, they lose their apartment and they are spinning into debt when she finds out she is also pregnant at the worst possible time.
Emma has also kept from her husband the fact that she and her estranged sisters, who she hasn't spoken to in years, are the joint owners of her family home. It's quite rundown, but has the bones of a stately old mansion. Her husband latches onto this property and sees it as their saving grace. Emma grudgingly agrees to return to the home after all these years, to live until they figure things out. He wants to fix it up and get the sisters to all agree to sell the place and make a big profit.
Things really start to go off the rails once they move in. There are so many secrets and lies. As it all starts to unfold we get several twists and turns. And just when you think you have it all figured out, she throws another curveball at you.
I really enjoyed this fast paced story from start to finish. Kate Alice Marshall is quickly becoming a must read author for me. Can't wait to see what she writes next!

In the world of small-town politics, appearances can be everything. Randolph and Irene Palmer had established a seemingly perfect life in the town of Arden Hills. They had money, power, and three beautiful daughters- Emma, Juliette, and Daphne. They were also willing to go to extremes in order to hone their flawless image. Through control, abuse, and fear, they demanded their daughters uphold their impossible standards. Juliette, the eldest, conformed to her parents’ vision and was often seen as the “perfect” daughter. Emma, the middle child, was the rebellious child who was known to openly challenge her parents. Daphne, the youngest, was known as a strange child who often had macabre interests. She was often treated as a child much younger than her actual age. As the girls grew older, the physical abuse began to increase. Then, one night, both Randolph and Irene Palmer were murdered in their own home. Rebellious Emma and her perceived boyfriend, Gabriel, were treated as the prime suspects. Without concrete evidence, however, neither one of them was ever charged with the crime. After the murders, Juliette, who was already 18, left for college. Emma and Daphne were shuffled to various foster homes. None of the sisters kept in contact, and soon they became virtual strangers to each other.
Years later, Emma finds herself married to Nathan, a man she does not really love. She discovers that she is pregnant on the same day that she learns that Nathan lost his job and all of their savings. With nowhere to go, Nathan suggests the couple move into Emma’s parents’ home. He had no idea that the Palmers were murdered. As they enter Arden Hills, Nathan is soon confronted with the true nature of Randolph and Irene’s death as well as the suspicion that still surrounds Emma to this day.
Emma quickly finds herself surrounded by the mystery of her parents’ murders. What REALLY happened on that night? Did one of her sisters kill their parents? Was there a tie to Randolph’s shady business dealings or Irene’s affair? When bad people die, does it really matter who you are trying to protect?
No One Can Know investigates the bonds that can form through severe trauma and the strength of family ties. Each one of the Palmer sisters severely wronged their siblings in some way, yet the sisters still pulled together in order to protect each other. They did so without feeling the need to ask each other who really did kill their parents. While No One Can Know did not include the same surprise elements as Kate Alice Marshall’s last book, What Lies in the Woods, it still includes a twisty story that keeps the reader guessing until the very end.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

No One Can Know is the story of three sisters facing the aftermath after their parents' deaths years ago when they were children. They have to face all of the old suspicions and, worse, each other and their broken relationships.
If you're looking for likable characters, you won't find them here. Secrets and hidden motivations abound, and there are plenty of twists. I think the pace is a little too slow to be called a thriller, but it is a great mysery. The alternating POVs and duel timelines slowly reveal the story.
Thank you to #NetGalley and #FlatironBooks for a free copy of #NoOneCanKnow by Kate Alice Marshall. All opinions are my own.

I am a huge fan of the authors previous book, What lies in the woods and was super excited to read this and was not disappointed! The story begins with three girls who find their parents murdered and making that fatal phone call to the police. I really loved the authors way of revealing details in such a subtle manner that if the reader wasn’t paying close attention they would miss it. Without giving away to many details, this book kept me engaged and on the edge till the very end. Definitely did not see the ending coming.
Thanks to netgalley and Macmillan publishers for an arc of this book

Hi, Kate Alice Marshall fan here! Why? She writes for the girlies.
It is with some embarrassment and regret that I tell you I'm not an EXTREME fan of mystery/thrillers but if Kate announced she was going to be penning NatGeo articles about the mating habits of blobfish, I would immediately subscribe, okay? Okay.
In this one, we first meet Emma. We find out a couple of things, first: her husband sucks, she's pregnant and facing homelessness (due to afformentioned sucktitude of husband), and fourteen years ago she found her both of her parents dead via gunshot wounds. Oh yeah, she's the prime suspect, too - having faced years of stalking and harassment at the hands of her hometown's local cop who is sure he detects lies in the story she told when she was a kid.
Forced by circumstance to move back to empty estate where her family lived and her parents' died, the sisters with whom she shares the secrets of that night so long ago - Juliette (now JJ) and Daphne - suddenly are back in the picture after years of being no-contact.
We start peeling away the layers of what really happened that night - was it Emma's accused boyfriend Gabriel? Was it Daphne? Was it Juliette? Was it Emma herself?
It was easy to feel empathy for the girls here, despite the fact it immediately felt like one of them was guilty of doing the deed, especially as we learn more about their parents. This felt like a literary story about girlhood, if I'm being honest, and some of the content was extremely tough to read. It did feel like there was a twist on every single page, though - a new reveal that leaves you guessing until the end what happened and why.
I do want to say that there was some really weird discussion of fatness/weight that made me feel a little icky, which was why it wasn't a perfect read for me.
It was an unexpected mystery, though! And I didn't see the ending coming, either!
CW: a loooooot of parent/child abuse, some physical and some verbal.

This one had my head spinning the whole time! There are so many clues and twists!
I was really surprised by who was behind everything. I thought every character was guilty at some point in the book. There are a few different storylines/side stories but everything is explained by the end so you really know what’s happening.
The three sisters became distant after the murder of their parents. When Emma came back they slowly started forming a relationship again (everyone was very cautious) and I really liked that for them :)

No One Can Know by Kate Alice Marshall is a twisty page turner that had me hooked from the first page. In this book we meet Emma, Daphne, and Juliette, who are 3 estranged sisters. 14 years ago their parents were murdered in their home. The murder was never solved and but many in the community suspected Emma. Now, Emma and her husband are forced to move back into the home due to financial difficulties. She has not been honest with her husband about her past. Being back in her childhood home forces her to go back to that night and try and unravel the mystery of what really happened.
This book is told in the POV of all three sisters and has two timelines, then and now. The relationship between the sisters was intriguing and dysfunctional. The characters were well developed and at times relatable. The chapters are pretty short and the book was very well written. This is the second book I have read by this author and I am excited to continue to read more books by her. This book will be released on January 23, 2024.
Read this book if you like:
* family drama
* secrets
* an ending you won’t see coming
* multiple POVs and dual timelines
* sister relationships
