This was a fun twisty mystery with a familiar premise...girl returns to hometown years after a tragic incident and grapples with unresolved relationships. In this case, the incident was the murders of Emma's parents, and the subsequent suspicion thrown on Emma and her two sisters. They have been estranged since then. When Emma moves back with her husband, secrets begin to be uncovered...and Emma finds that she is still in danger...
A fun read!

Emma has been estranged from her 2 sisters since the murder of their parents when she was 16 years old. Everyone in their home town was convinced that Emma had something to do with the murders. Emma finds out she is pregnant, her husband gets laid off, and they can no longer buy a new house. She has no choice but to move into her parents home and that means contacting Juliette and Daphne. The sisters have never spoken about what really happened the morning their parents were murdered, but moving back and reconnecting with her sisters will reveal more than just the secret of who killed their parents. I really loved What Lie in the Woods so I was excited to dive into No One Can Know. This one felt more like a suspenseful family drama than a thriller. Miscommunication is one of my least favorite tropes but this was just no communication which I found even more frustrating. None of the characters are remotely likable, especially Emma's husband, what a jerk. I did enjoy the chapters where the sisters went back in time revealing what had happened leading up to their parents deaths. There are a ton of twists and the chapters are short so it's a quick read. Thank you to Flatiron Books and Netgalley for my eARC.

Talk about a family full of secrets! The Palmer family had enough skeletons to fill up a few closets.
Juliette, Emma, and Daphne are sisters still living in the shadow of their parents' unsolved murder from 14 years earlier. When Emma and her husband are forced to move back into the old family home, unanswered questions and suspicion come back to haunt the sisters and once again call into question their memories from the night of the murders as well as the depth of their sisterly bonds.
No One Can Know is full of tantalizing secrets, family drama, and crazy soap opera worthy twists that had me second-guessing every character's honesty and motivation. I loved how the author unraveled the story in a well paced but still intriguing way. Just when I had settled into the plot and thought I had a good sense of the direction in which things were headed, the author pulled the rug out from under me with another wild story development.
The characters, while often deceptive, still managed to be interesting and compelling even if not always likable. I had no idea what was truly going on for most of the book, but I couldn't help but wish the sisters, whether guilty or innocent, would get some version of a HEA.
Once again, Kate Alice Marshall has given us a well written and cleverly constructed mystery about complicated family ties, deception, and long-held secrets. The twists kept coming until the very end, and this was one of the most entertaining thrillers I've read this year.
Thank you to Netgalley and Flatiron Books for providing me a copy to read and review.

This felt like a slow burn which I don’t mind! This was a wild ride. It felt like the characters were very realistic and I was mentally yelling at them at their choice they made or didn’t make. Consequences were dealt. I enjoyed this one.

No One Can Know by Kate Alice Marshall
My rating:
3.5/5
⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
Emma must return to her childhood home, when her husband loses his job and they have no where else to go. This is the same place that her parents were both murdered. When she returns to town, whispers of the past start to resurface and Emma and her estranged sisters are put in the spotlight, as they never found out who murdered their parents.
I really liked this story as it was a good pace and had multiple POVS of the 3 sisters. I like when you slowly start to find out what happened in the past and having two different timelines being told at the same time.
This was a solid 4 for me the entire book, until I got to the end where it was very confusing and lots of twists happened all at the same time. My original theory ended up being right, but it wasn’t satisfying because I still have questions.
This was my first book by the author and based on her writing style, I will definitely read another! Her other book, What Lies in The Woods is actually on my physical shelf so I will be reading that one for sure!
While I didn’t give this one the highest score, I do recommend reading it for a nice thriller!
Thanks netgalley and Flatiron books for the ARC! This one will be published in January of 2024!

Thank you to Netgalley and Flatiron Press for the ARC! I always appreciate my thrillers and I enjoyed this one a lot. I really liked the overall structure of the book- going between the sisters and time to discover the past and present. I also liked the twists and turns in this one- keeps you guessing all the way to the very end!

I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Three sisters are torn apart after the brutal deaths of their parents. They are objects of pity and suspected of murder. Violence tears them a sunder, but ties pull them back towards each other.

Thanks for the ARC! This was such a great read - Kate Alice Marshall does it again! This book hooked me from the beginning and I could not wait to find out what really happened. I thought that the twists were really good, and I really wanted to find out just what happened to the parents and who snapped. Great read!

No One Can Wait has a bit of gothic flavor. Big mansion, mysterious deaths, and sisters bound by a secret.
And it is one of those mysteries where the author likes to keep using the “Oh, but wait,” trick to keep adding in yet more things at the end to keep the story going. And going. And going. And going. I think authors mistakenly think this is a fantastic writing method that ratchets up the tension. Instead, the climax happens, but I then I have to start faking excitement because it isn’t exciting anymore. I just want it to be over so I can see what happens and get some resolution. Something a little more concise.

I want to start off by thanking the author and the publisher for the opportunity to review this book prior to it's release. I was thoroughly impressed with the author's ability to weave two stories together. The central plot of this book is a murder mystery of the parents of three young girls. Never charged with the crime, they have moved on with their lives, each individually. That is, until fate brings them back to the house where the murders took place.
Now, 14 years later, the oldest sister tries to piece together what really happened all those years ago. However, what happens next and the revelations that follow are what makes this book the perfect fall read.
The was my first time reading a Kate Marshall book, and I can say that I really enjoyed reading this book! Her ability to develop the characters throughout the story impressed me and made this book an easy, fun read. I give it a solid 3.5 stars, rounded to 4 stars!

Whew. This book will take you on a ride.
Three sisters….a murder….their parents dead.
Who killed them….the police think it’s one of the girls. They all have their secrets that No One Can Know. They all have guilt over their I I thoughts of wanting their parents dead. They weren’t nice people after all.
Will you be able to figure out the real story…who the the real killer is? Will the twists surprise you?

I really enjoyed this book. It was an unputdownable book that I was so glad to have with me on a long day of traveling. This was the kind of book that you really just need to keep reading to find out what will happen.
In this story, we follow Emma and her husband in a moment of crisis. Big life moments are happening. Emma just found out she is pregnant, her husband just lost his job, money is tight, and on top of that they have just lost their apartment. Enter the family inheritance, an abandoned mansion that Emma owns with her three estranged sisters. The catch, her parents were murdered there, and Emma is the prime suspect. At least to the small town and local police. Alternating perspectives amongst the three sisters in the past and present, the tension mounts as we learn more about what happened the night of their parents' murders.
Big fan of this one. It was a quick read with an overall satisfying plot and climax.

The twists and turns in this one kept me guessing until the end. Emma, Juliette and Daphne grow up with abusive parents, each of the girls doing what they can to survive it. When their parents are murdered, all 3 girls are hiding secrets from each other, each one not having trust in each other.
Years later, Emma and her husband Nathan are forced to move back into her childhood home where they encounter way more than they bargained for. With another murder happening at the same house, what really happened all those years ago? Which sister is guilty?
Love the character development in this book. Even the secondary characters are well written!
Many thanks to Flatiron Books and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The book opens with two dead parents and Emma Palmer calling the police while sisters Daphne and Juliette look on. Years later Emma and her husband Nathan are in a financial mess and are forced to return to the house in Arden Hills; the other sisters agree to let them come back though all have been estranged since the news got of their parents’ death. The town has not forgotten the tragedy nor the fact that the citizens believe Emma was to blame.
At first I had the sense that I had read this book before, though I hadn’t, but that’s not the best sign. The book was good, though not great. It meanders a bit at times, but I loved the description of the girls’ mother, “so controlled because she is afraid that if she relaxes, she will slip up, and the friends she plays tennis with will somehow sense the electrician’s daughter underneath all that cashmere and silk….mother isn’t beautiful. She’s the kind of person called beautiful because she is thin and has good teeth and an expensive haircut.” Tells you everything. Overall, worth the read.

I really enjoyed this one! This kept me guessing throughout the story. Kate Alice Marshall does such a great job keeping you engaged as you are reading. 4.5 stars

I really liked this book…There were twists and turns throughout that had me reeling! I love a good thriller and I’m always trying to figure out who done it. My guesses were way off throughout, and even at the very end, the author left it up to the reader whether or not to believe it,
This was a fast paced read and I highly recommend. I gave this 4.5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me read this digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

3.5/5 stars rounded up to 4🌟 No One Can Know is another solid mystery by Kate Alice Marshall about three sisters, Emma, Juliette, Daphne as they unravel the mystery surrounding the tragic death of their parents. Lies, secrets, corruption, romance. This book really has a little bit of everything, and makes readers ask them themselves: How far will you go to protect your family? How well do you really know those around you?
I enjoyed the multiple POVs this book offered but I feel it led to confusion at times. Daphne’s point of view was told pretty early on and that first chapter from her perspective really had me reeled in! However, I feel the author didn’t return back to Daphne’s point of view until much later in the book and I found myself having to look back several chapters to jog my memory of where her story left off. Although I think that the plot of this book is great and the “whodunnit” aspect is intriguing, I feel there was a lot of extra details that lead me off of the main story line quite often. I was left still feeling confused even after I finished it.
Overall still a solid thriller full of twists and turns that we all love! Huge thank you to NetGalley, Flatiron books, and Kate Alice Marshall for this advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review. 🧡

Thanks to Netgalley & St. Martin's Press for the E-ARC! I enjoyed this very much! The twists were so good & I loved the setting! Definitely will read more from this author.

Thanks Netgalley for the copy! I REALLY enjoy Kate Alice Marshall, and this story of hers was no exception.
I love the dual timeline usage to be able to bring us back to the night of the double homicide, while also keeping us squarely in the current-day storyline. I thought Emma was such a well fleshed out character: clearly traumatized from her past, very protective over her siblings, connected to her husband by both desire and what felt like necessity: really made her relatable. I liked Daphne probably a little less, and JJ was difficult but well done. The multi-POV worked to really flesh out what happened that night, and provide some twists and turns
Typically I don't love an 'unreliable narrator' trope for thrillers, but I thought this skirted the line really well. No one is TRULY lying, they know only certain things, or they give up only certain context as it feels fit. I think that really worked. The author found a great balance between outright lying and slightly fibbing.
This is a great read if you love a good thriller, love piecing together through someone elses thoughts who a murderer is, and walking away with a not perfectly tied-up storyline!

I worship at the altar that is Kate Alice Marshall. It's hard to explain what's so amazing about her books, but I have read both her adult and YA books, and there's just something about the way she writes. Whether it's a thriller mystery or a paranormal horror, they're all deeply disturbing and incredibly thoughtful. I loved No One Can Know, a story that revolves mostly around three sisters, their bonds, and the things they'd do to protect each other. I love a story that's messy and confusing, and KAM certainly delivers with this one
