Thanks to Flatiron and NetGalley for the ARC. My second book by Marshall and it was just as enjoyable as the first. The writing was good and kept me questioning and reading to find the answers. Recommend

I really enjoy Kate Alice Marshall’s writing style. She does a good job of having you second guess everything and everyone. I believe the multiple POVs were done very well, I didn’t get lost or confused. This was pretty fast paced for me which was great. I kept wanting to read and know what happened next.

Thank you to netgalley for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is the 2nd Kate Alice Marshall book I’ve read and it won’t be the last! No one can know starts off on the very first page with Emma, staring at her parents dead bodies on the floor of their childhood home. Emma isn’t sure exactly what happened but needs to make some quick decisions to help protect both her and her two sisters.
When Emma’s husband Nathan looses his job, Emma and nathan have to move back into Emma’s childhood home to make ends meet; but there’s a lot of people not happy that Emma is back in town and asking questions surrounding what happened that night 14 years ago.
The story alternates back and forth between “then” and “now” ( 14 years later) and the characters POV varies between Emma and her two sisters JJ and Daphne.
I enjoyed the back and forth of the story being told between then and now, the author did a great job weaving the past and present together and tying together the different story lines. Overall I really enjoyed this thriller and thought the story was well told!

Murder, Mystery, Thrills! This book had it all! I had to keep reading to find out what Emma kept hidden and I could not put it down! I loved how it kept you holding on until the very end. It pulled you in at the beginning and it did not stop. I really enjoyed the alternate POVs from the sisters and how it was the past and now. It kept me so engaged! Thank you for another great read!

I loved this book. I found the plot to be fascinating and well paced - especially the shifting between past and present. I disliked the behavior and naivety of some of the characters, though. I found the ending somewhat predictable, but not entirely so. Overall, Marshall's plotting and writing style makes up for any flaws for me.

3.5 stars rounded up! No One Can Know is my first book from Kate Alice Marshall but I’m already adding her to my favorite authors and adding her other books to my cart. It follows three sisters, Juliette (JJ) Emma, and Daphne. When their parents are murdered, the whole town thinks it was Emma who did it. Not being able to prove anything, the girls grow up and move away, not even speaking to each other. That all changes when Emma finds out she’s pregnant around the same time her husband loses his job and they find themselves homeless…almost. Emma confesses to Nathan that she has joint ownership of her family home, and seeing no other choice, she lets her sisters know she’ll be moving in for a while. They all have their secrets, and many will be revealed along the way, but will the exposed secrets tear them apart forever…or worse? This was a fast-paced murder mystery and even though I saw the ending coming, it was still highly satisfying. I recommend to anyone who loves mysteries and thrillers.
I received an advanced copy from NetGalley in exchange for a review and opinions are my own.

Kate Alice Marshall is consistently entertaining and only gets better with each offering. A recommended purchase for collections where mysteries and thrillers are popular.

Kate Alice Marshall has now become an auto buy author for me. Her latest work, No One Can Know, the story of three sisters forever changed by the brutal murder of their parents & the secrets they’ve kept, even from each other, is so addictive and thrilling. So well written. Loved it.

So, while I liked the author's debut adult novel well enough, this one missed the mark for me. While I do think some aspects of the book need a bit of work--the characters don't really feel distinct enough in their POVs or dialogue to really make them stand out in any meaningful way--it's mostly a "me" thing. One of the things I hate most in thrillers are domestic thrillers. I hate thrillers with bad romantic relationships at the center and the trope of miscommunication or just sheer lack of it powering the entirety of the story. So, from the get-go, I was already not having a great time. A little after the 50% mark it started to pick up a little, but then the ending happened and I just... felt drained. I'm not going to spoil anything, though I do feel like you can kind of figure out where the ending is heading just by reading it, so I was a little disappointed that the author had went in that direction as opposed to something else.
Overall, really not for me, but if you like domestic thrillers, you may like this one.

Kate Alice Marshall strikes again! She really knows how to write a compelling and creepy story with entertaining characters and twists you don't see for miles. I LOVE when a new Marshall comes into the literary world!

This one is a winner, you guys!!!! Super good, and hard to put down!
Thank you, NetGalley for this ARC!
I appreciate the opportunity so much!

This book had everything I love. Family drama, murder, secrets and mystery.
This book definitely had twists and turns, surprises and heart pounding moments.
I did like it, I really did. But, I couldn't relate to or care about the characters. There was something missing there for me.
The story was great though.
Definitely give this one a shot if you're a thriller lover like me.
Pick it up in January 2024.

No One Can Know is an intricate thriller woven by the mysteries surrounding three sisters. These three sisters found their parents dead one night. Emma, the middle sister has always been suspected as the murderer.
The book is told in alternating viewpoints from the sisters both now and then, with twists and turns throughout. I love stories with alternate viewpoints as to me it makes for a more interesting journey with the characters.
Ultimately, I figured out parts of the story along the way, so none of the twists and turns were particularly shocking to me. The end was pretty neat as well. I’d recommend it as it’s a quick read, with an interesting story, but it didn’t turn into a favorite, unfortunately!
I was riveted by Kate Alice Marshall’s What Lies in the Woods, so I knew that she could nail the whole woman-goes-back-to-the-small-town-where-mysterious-tragedy-struck-her-in-the-past deal. In this novel, the narration splits six ways - between all three sisters, both in the present and at the time of their parents’ deaths.
Thank you to NetGalley, Flatiron Books, and the author for the opportunity to read this arc in exchange for an honest review.
Due out January 23, 2024, I strongly recommend you pre-order this mind-blowing banger, you do not want to miss this!

STOPPPP I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!
Emma hasn’t told her husband much about her childhood at all. He knows she has two estranged sisters and that her parents are dead. A series of extremely unlucky circumstances lead them to moving back to her childhood home and reopens the box on what really did happen to her parents all those years ago…
I could not stop reading this! I felt like I was truly a part of the story.

I really liked this one! I remember enjoying her other book that I read this year as part of my BOTM, and enjoyed this one as well! The mystery is definitely fascinating and the story felt quite complex. The only place where I would take it down is the the predictability of the husband( he was either a killer or was going to be killed), as well as the fact that the book was pretty similar to Shari lapena’s not a happy family. Obviously mysteries and thrillers often reuse tropes, but I would like some sort of variety sometimes.

I’ve always enjoyed a spooky environment thriller and this novel didn’t let me down. Emma having some troubles hit her and her husband has moved back to her childhood home, the home where her parents were murdered. Enter hateful detectives and estranged sisters, you’ve got a recipe for a great thriller/mystery. The book kept me guessing until the end but I never knew when the twists were going to stop twisting. Still an enjoyable book.

•Plot: 3/5 (Three sisters return to their childhood home where their parents were brutally murdered.)
•Characters: 2/5 (Everyone just felt a little detached.)
•Writing: 3/5
•Ending: 2/5
2.5 Rounded Up
I’ve been in a reading slump lately, so I am taking my share of the blame that this just wasn’t for me. I never felt invested with the characters or the mystery of who had murdered the parents. I’m still kinda confused about exactly what happened. If you’re looking for a thriller with dual timelines, I’d definitely give this one a try. Special thanks to NetGalley and Flatiron Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this twisted thriller! I was hooked right from the beginning. Emma has kept her past hidden from her husband, Nathan. He loses his job and Emma is pregnant. Needing somewhere to live they return to her vacant family home where Nathan learns Emma’s parents were brutally murdered there. Emma and her older sister were teenagers, and the youngest sister was twelve. The three sisters formed a pact that night on what to tell the police after finding their parents. The sisters have not been in touch in many years and are all drawn back to the house following Emma. Returning to the scene puts Emma and Nathan in grave danger. The many characters are well-defined, the story is layered and told from each sister’s POV. It’s impossible to know who to trust. Who was the killer? The tension and the danger keep building to the explosive conclusion. This book will keep you guessing until the end. With thanks to Netgalley and Flatiron Books for the ARC. My opinions are my own.

Trigger warning- child abuse
No One Can Know is an intricate thriller woven by the mysteries surrounding three sisters. These three sisters found their parents dead one night. Emma, the middle sister has always been suspected as the murderer.
This author did a brilliant job with this. It can’t be easy creating a plot that’s well laid out when you’re dealing with three women, both past and present.
The details in this were pretty impeccable. So much is presented to you while reading, that your brain doesn’t know what to do with it. Every single character is guilty of something.
Family is also a big theme in this. The fact that the people who raised you and the sisters you grew up with might not know you enough to trust you, and you them. All of the family struggles, abuse, lies, and affairs that lead to inevitable violence.
The ending isn’t rushed at all. I appreciate this so much because I feel like most thrillers these days take their time building up, just to smack you in the face haphazardly with the end.
Overall, I think this book deserves 4 stars. I wasn’t sure in the beginning, but now I can say that I liked this book and would definitely recommend it to others. I can also say that I won’t hesitate in picking up her other books. Im interested in what else she has to offer!
A great thank you goes out to Kate Alice Marshall, Flatiron Books, and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Just finished “No One Can Know” by Kate Alice Marshall. I read another thriller of hers earlier this year and was hooked. This one was also pretty good!
Emma and her sisters Daphne and Juliette grew up in an abusive household. Their parents are found murdered in the family home, and Emma is the main suspect in the murders. Years later, Emma is married and pregnant, and she moves back the family home in her hometown - still a suspect in the murders of her parents and estranged from her sisters. She wants to find out what happened, so she quietly starts digging…
