I was able to receive this audiobook early via NetGalley to provide feedback. All opinions are my own. This book covers many hard topics so well. The atmosphere set on Indio Isle matches the tumult of the characters' emotions and lives. I wanted to crawl inside this book and give both Sonny and Hudson hugs. Their almost enemies-friends-lovers romance is so sweet. The elements of scripture throughout fit perfectly, were not overdone, and tied the whole novel together by the end. I was tearful, yet laughing throughout this book as I listened. The audio narration was perfect. I highly recommend this novel in print or audiobook format.

Feels like a loose retelling of Beauty and the Beast.

Sonny is a location scout drawn to a mysterious, private island and it seven more mysterious occupant, Hudson.

Day and night she struggles to fend off her overly flirtatious boss and squeezes in time to get to know Hudson, even though he’s initially an unwilling party to her plans.

I don’t know if it’s the narrator’s voice or the writing style but Sonny felt much younger than she’s stated to be. Wasn’t a huge fan of her character.

Beautiful story of forgiveness and redemption. Solid character development, both Sonny and Hudson are real characters with shame and regret in their past. Their stories are woven into a “beauty & beast” romance. The tie in to the indigo dye process was perfect.

Sensitive topics were handled with care (me too)

Thank you RB Media and NetGalley for this audio advanced copy. All opinionions are my own.

A Christian Southern Romance inspired by Beauty and the Beast. I really enjoyed this audiobook. I found the narrator's voice easy to listen to and follow, and her adorable southern accent really encompassed our female main character and set the tone of this southern setting perfectly. Sonny's thoughts and inner conflict about her character and her situation were well written, relatable, and following her journey as she takes back her dignity and stands up for herself was inspiring. This book also contains one of my favorite tropes, grumpy/sunshine! The chemistry between Sonny and Hudson and their ability to relate to one another and help each other was really sweet to read and reiterated the idea that love can heal even the deepest oldest wounds. Love conquers all. 4.5 stars

A story of broken people in connection to an isolated (idyllic) island.

I appreciated the book references, the indigo dye process, and the character growth.

Touches on sexual abuse, drug addiction, broken relationships, and grief.

If you liked the atmosphere of Where the Crawdads Sing, I think you will love this! (As far as intimate moments, this book is clean).

I listened to the audiobook and I was very impressed with the Southern (and other accents) of the narrator.

Huge thank you to RB Media and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook!

Sonny is a talent scout who lives in guilt and shame. She is on site and meets Hudson who also lubes in guilt and shame. She falls in love with Hudson. Will he love her back?

Many thanks to Net Galley and RB Media for an audio ARC for an honest review.
