A twisty psychological thriller and quite a page turner. Perfect book to slip in between heavier reads..I love a thriller like this that I think I have all figured out and then the plot thickens and I realize I don’t have anything figured out! A page turner about the world of new moms and their babies. Recommend! Thanks to @simonandschuster and @netgalley for the arc.

A murder.
A reporter who has newly become a mom, trying to find her place in this new reality.
A tight knit community of moms who clearly have secrets.

Tash is a new mom who is desperately trying to navigate the reality of new motherhood. she has adjusted her journalistic career to freelance but she's still searching for more. Community. Friendship. Understanding and belonging. When the sleek, sophisticated, put together moms from her son's playgroup welcome her into their fold, it seems she has found everything that she was looking for. But there are secrets and the more she gets to know them, the more it's clear that there's more to this group than meets the eye and her investigative radar goes up.

This is a twisty domestic thriller that examines what goes on behind closed doors and what friends wild to protect each other, what the well off will do to protect themselves. I really enjoyed the ride of this one. There were some great twists, well done characters and some truly creepy parts. I think the whole piece of Tash's character as she was trying to find herself in the midst of new motherhood made her character extra relatable even while the whole scenario of murder and intrigue, thankfully, was a bit removed from my reality.

I'd recommend this one to anyone who likes a good domestic thriller.

If you are looking for the perfect book that keeps you up past your bedtime because you can't put it down, then you must read The Other Mothers. While it starts off as a slow burn as the characters and time lines start to come together you won't be able to put it down and will neglect all other aspects of your life to find out what happened to the nanny and what Tash's new friends have to do with it. It had me guessing until the end with a couple of twists that I didn't see coming.

Unfortunately, I just couldn't get into this book. I'm not sure exactly why. It definitely came off as interesting but when reading it I just didn't get into it.

This one started out really well, I loved the premise. A London setting, a dead nanny, a mother trying to find answers and a journalist who happens to be a new young mother looking into that death. When she gets invited into the inner circle or the higher posh moms as she digs into Sophie’s death. I did feel like it dragged on a little bit and felt a little long at points and I didn’t see the twist and felt like there was lots of good things going on to throw you off of what was going happen but in the end it just felt like a little too much going on and that’s where it lost me. Im still a little confused by all that happened and felt like a few things where just forgotten about. none of the characters where likeable (but I don’t mind that in a thriller!) overall and enjoyable thriller but not a favourite. I do have one question though, do doctors in the uk not make a lot of money because that was a running theme in the book that her husband Tom and fellow mom friend Laura didn’t make a lot as doctors, when doctor in Canada and the states usually have higher salaries lol.

Everyone in this novel is hiding something, pretending in some way, or misleading you. You really couldn’t trust anyone! Most of the characters gave off an unsettling or slimy feeling, but I felt that enhanced the book.

I love a book with a ton of tiny twists and reveals that keep you guessing. I was so sure I had it all figured out more than once, and each time I only had a piece of the puzzle solved.

I saw this one as a request on NetGalley, and after reading Greenwich Park, I knew I had to try to get it, and I was so lucky I did!

Much like her other book, this one has twist, turns, multiple POV, and excitement from start to finish.
A young nanny is found dead. She used to be so involved with the play group. But when freelance journalist, and new mom, is on the hunt to find who did it she also starts to make a new group of friends at her son's new playgroup. With all these changes she starts to lose her self with endless bills, the lifestyle, and falling deeper and deeper into the story. But don't think she is the only one looking into this story. Will she find out Who did this? I guess you'll have to read to find that one out.

Well Katherine Faulkner has done it again, and is an auto buy on my list! This one was so fun and mysterious that it was hard to put down. I love how well she have the multiple point of views and how they contribute to the story! I do give this one a 4/5 * and would suggest it to anyone who loves a good murder mystery!!

The Other Mothers is a domestic thriller which will have you hooked from the very beginning. This page-turner had me reading past my bedtime the last few days! Most of the characters in the story were unlikable and suspicious, making this book all the more addictive. This book had all the key elements of a domestic thriller: a group of rich entitled mothers, cheating husbands, misbehaved children, a dead nanny, and one journalist trying to encover a web of dark secrets.

If you need to get out of a reading slump and read something that will keep your attention for hours on end, I recommend this thriller/mystery novel. This was my first time reading a novel by Katherine Faulkner and I will be sure to check out her previous title! Fans of Ashley Audrain are sure to enjoy this novel.

𝑴𝒚 𝑻𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔:
Having read the author's previous book (her debut), I wasn't a huge fan of the writing style but the plot was really captivating. I decided to give her another try, and I'm glad I did. 'The Other Mothers' was so fascinating! The storyline was so different than anything I've ever read before, and that kept me interested throughout.

While I did like the plot and found it interesting, I did find the story slow starting. I understand there needed to be a build-up to the main storyline, however I think the author probably could have gotten to it a bit quicker. By the time I got to the part in the book, I was ready to put it down. That being said, I'm glad I did continue on with the story because the ending was so intricate, it really had me stopping to think about everything. The ending was really well written and thought out!

At the end of the day, same as this author's first book - I could see the potential and would probably give the author another try, however, it wasn't my favourite book.

This was an excellent thriller/suspenseful read. Although I had guesses to a couple of the plot lines, there were still some significant pieces I hadn’t quite put together. Very well written too!
I really look forward to the next book by Faulkner.

A young nanny is found dead in confusing circumstances. It could have been a simple accident or something more evil. Tash, a new mother and journalist, feels that this woman’s death is worth investigating. At the same time, she begins to become closer friends with the “in” mothers at her child’s daycare. But maybe she should be keeping her distance? The story unfolds one piece at a time in this dual perspective between the nanny, Sophie, and Tash.

In books like these, I can’t help but try to solve the mystery before it is revealed. And honestly, with this one, I couldn’t! I was so confident I had it solved a few times, but I was wrong time and time again. There are so many twists and turns until the last chapter. It was quite the wild ride!

The book was a little longer than other books in this genre, and I sometimes wondered if the extra details were necessary. The cool moms were so easy to hate. It was pretty entertaining to root against them. I often rolled my eyes or internally screamed at some of Tash’s decisions as she became friends with these women.

Overall, it was an entertaining novel. I am pretty happy that I read it and got through it quickly for its length!

. . . ⭑ ⭑ ⭑ ⭑ ⋆
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this one, which I think is almost an easier way to go into a book. Just enough in the synopsis to have you intrigued, without the heavy weight of expectation - when this is the set up entering into the read, it almost always works in the book’s favour, and this one was no exception.

I was definitely in the mood for the mystery / suspense aspects that this book delivered, and it kept me guessing throughout. It did quite well with offering up false leads and red herrings, which isn’t always easy to do. I also really enjoyed the dual POVs, which delivered just the right amount of information to keep me engaged within the story through both characters.

I appreciated how it showcased how vastly parenting can differ as it relates to socioeconomic status - accessibility, food and nutrition, child care, educational programs and opportunities, etc. - being of the ‘have’ or ‘have nots’ in terms of wealth can absolutely impact parenting, but also can strongly impact the 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 of successful parenting. And then in turn, confidence and assurance in how and what you are able to provide to and for your children - it’s all too easy to self-criticize and doubt whether you’re doing a good job as a parent, especially as a mother, which can absolutely also tie into one’s self-worth. Because this book did a solid job in highlighting these ideas, I felt like Tash’s excessive spending would have made more sense if it was on Finn - like a desire for name-brand clothing or gear, versus leggings and spa days. While this was partly to fit in with the other mothers ( because finding [seemingly] like-minded mom-friends can be tough, #iykyk ), I personally felt it would have aligned better with the storyline had the money been spent elsewhere.

With that being said, I was definitely invested in figuring out the whodunnit, and while I was able to figure the bulk of it out before the big reveal, the last minute twist(s) definitely caught me by surprise, which is always a huge plus. And that cliffhanger ending? Come on nowwwwww - it was done so smoothly, with just enough questions and wondering about what possibly came next, without making you feel like the book was unfinished.

The only other burning question I have after reading this is when the author will write her next one.

3.5 stars rounded up to a 4.

I did end up enjoying this domestic thriller, but it was quite slow to start. It really took a while to get going, with most of the action not happening until the second half. But once it got going, it grabbed my attention and I found it quite entertaining.

There was a large cast of characters here and not one of them was reliable. It seemed as though everyone was keeping secrets or lying about something. And honestly, it wasn't a likeable bunch at all. The story dealt with motherhood and privilege and how far people are willing to go.

It was quite twisty at times and there were moments that I predicted and a couple moments where I was surprised. Most of the twists happened very close to the end. Overall, I thought this was an entertaining read that suited my mood.

This your standard whodunit domestic thriller. Overall, the plot was twisty and fast-paced however I don't think the story was the best fit for me. There was so much talk about pregnancy and mothering and this is not something I generally like to read about. I am not sure I found aspects of the plot overaly believable, to many convenient coincidences for my liking.
Thank you to Netgalley and Simon & Schuster for my complimentary copy.

The Other Mothers was a great domestic thriller with just enough drama to put the Desperate Housewives to shame. This book was a definite slow-burn and while enjoyable, there were times when the plot was definitely dragging me along. But, the ending was a gut punch - fast-paced and full of emotion.
Overall, I definitely recommend checking this one out!

Thank you to the publisher for my copy, all opinions are my own.

I had heard really good things about this one, and I was excited to dive in. It does not disappoint! This is the exact kind of popcorn thriller, soap opera drama, reality tv crazy entertainment that you want when you are looking for a book to escape into. I so thoroughly enjoyed devouring this story, everything about it was done so exceedingly well.

I loved the characters that are murky, untrustworthy, and highly suspicious. I loved the pacing and the mix of Tash trying to deal with her own messy life while balancing motherhood and investigating the mysterious death of a nanny whose life is so much closer to her own than expected. I loved the extravagance and the dash of rich people behaving badly sprinkled in. It was all so deliciously devious and twisty, and in the end, is so perfectly satisfying.

One that is a must for thriller lovers piles in the new year!

2.5⭐️ This one was a miss for me. It thought it was too long which resulted in a lot of extra fluff added that didn’t add anything to the story.
If I hadn’t received this as an ARC, I probably would have DNF’d it at 30%.
I thought the ending was unsatisfying and oddly enough, had too many twists. It just kept going and going to the point it got confusing.

Thank you Simon and Schuster Canada and NetGalley for the eArc! This is a tense and suspenseful neighborhood drama about friendships, motherhood, and relationships. This one will keep you up late at night flipping pages!

The Other Mothers by Katherine Faulkner is an interesting take on a mystery thriller. Tash is a young mom who is also a freelance journalist. She decides to investigate the mysterious circumstances around a young nanny's drowning in her community - a nanny that just so happened to work at the play group Tash's son attends. The connection becomes more complicated the more Tash digs, as she soon learns the mom group she's been hanging out with also knew the nanny - much better than she first thought.

The story alternates between Tash's and the nanny, Sophie's perspectives. I enjoyed following Sophie's story, Faulkner writes these chapters almost as a 'morbid' countdown, so the reader gets to see what was going on in Sophie's life before her death - although strictly from her point of view. The only thing I didn't enjoy about Sophie's characterization is that she is particularly judgmental towards her employer - who is clearly suffering from postpartum depression. Faulkner frames Sophie to be a highly trained early childhood educator and you'd think that Sophie would be able to recognize this condition in her boss.

I did enjoy Tash's investigation, as she learns more about Sophie, she finds out that her new friends actually knew Sophie quite personally. The lines between journalism and friendship become more and more complicated as the story goes on. Tash also begins to receive threats from someone who is determined to get her to stop investigating at all costs.

Overall, I think this is a good thriller. I found that I needed to know how the mystery ended and I liked how Faulkner wrapped things up. I would recommend this novel to anyone looking for a thriller to pass a winter night with!

THE OTHER MOTHERS by Katherine Faulkner is a slow burn domestic suspense/ mystery that kept me entertained with its overflowing drama.

I could trash-talk this book. I could tell you about the character in the beginning that is pivotal to the start of the story; she tipped the first domino and is related to the story but she just disappears - it's like the author forgot about her. I could tell you about the other unfinished plot line that they were developing from the beginning but was never fully explored. I could also tell you about the fact that the entire book is based on the multiple stupid decisions of one woman. Thanks Tash, you're the real MVP, this book would not have been possible without you. I guess this is what they mean by "character-driven". I could tell you many more things, but what I really want to tell you is that, in the end, I LIKED IT. I liked the drama, the dual POVs (Tash in present day and Sophie in the past), the twists and little swerves and the constant guessing and red herrings. I liked the anticipation of seeing the next stupid decision that Tash would make. I liked that no one was likeable.

Recommend to a friend? Sure, why not? Suspend disbelief and jump in.
