Thanks to dreamscape media, and storm publishing for letting me listen to an Advanced Readers Copy of this audiobook.

Two years after 10 year old Layla’s murder, the Martin family is struggling to process and move on; this lack of closure and continual grief is exacerbated by the fact her killer has never been caught. While Rachel and her husband, John, are struggling to fight for Layla to be remembered and ensure Gale, Layla’s little brother, is functioning, the investigation is nearly at a grinding halt. That is until Gale realizes he isn’t imagining Layla, but can actually see her and communicate with her. As Layla gives him information surrounding her murder and tries to explain her presence, Gale must be strategic in working to find Layla’s killer and frame evidence in a way where everyone will believe him all while staying off of the killer’s radar.

Gregg Dunnett wrote an excellent thriller packed with suspense and drama. I highly enjoyed his well written plot and the shifting perspectives throughout the story. While incorporating Layla as a ghost, the story didn’t come off as a hoax or cheap. I highly recommend this and thoroughly enjoyed the narration for the audiobook.

Eeeek. This book was pretty darn good. Ok, the part about her coming back as a ghost isn’t very believable but it made for a dang good tale. I don’t want to spoil too much but the ending was super intense. I was glad it ended the way that it did though, sad but not too sad.

🌀Synopsis
Gale’s sister Layla was murdered two years ago and their family is struggling. Gale is struggling. Which is why, when his sister reappears as a ghost it’s actually a good thing! They are no closer to solving the murder than they were two years ago but Layla being there is about to change all of that.
She’s about to show Gale who her killer is.
The problem is, he happens to be a big part of the investigation and pinning this on him is going to be darn near impossible.
Once suspicions arise though, the murderer starts to get nervous. Not only does he get nervous, he gets angry. Angry and hungry to kill again he decides on a plan to get rid of Gale so he can take more girls in the future. Only, there are other people on to him and his elaborate scheme might just fail.

"There was no doubt he would kill again."

Time is of the essence in the psychological thriller Little Ghosts by gets you in the heart author Gregg Dunnett. Two years ago 10 year old Layla was murdered and Detective Clarke still hasn't solved the case but everything changes when Layla's younger brother Gale says he knows who killed her...because she told him. Now the killer has contacted the police and promised, "...the next person I will kill is Gale..."

Narrator Katie Villa is truly impressive jumping from being frightened 10 year olds to a stone cold crazed killer. We learn early the shocking twist of the killer but it seems insurmountable for Gale to get adults to believe his sister's ghost has revealed the killer to him. It's a ghostly ride.

This was such an interesting read. Most mystery/thrillers you have the whole novel to try and figure out “who dunnit” but this was different. This one we find out who does it probably halfway through and at first I couldn’t understand what else could be going on but really, the rest is figuring out HOW they catch the killer.

This is such a heartbreaking story of a brother who loses his sister but she comes back to help him sober her murder. You get different perspectives and usually I get confused but this was written in a way that really kept things clear.

I loved the writing and storytelling and was crying by the end of it. If you want a great mystery with some heartfelt storytelling, you may enjoy this book.

Missing child, murder, con artist, ghost, and a mystery to prove. But how?
Layla is 10 years old and is snatched from the beach right near her family. Two years later, her murder police file is in danger of being closed due to lack of evidence. Through the perspectives of Layla, Gail (brother), family members and the killer- puzzle pieces begin to emerge as to how and when this horrible event occurred. But can the proof be found in time to catch the killer before he kills again?
The narrator Kate Villa, was fantastic. Her pace was on point. Her character depiction based on vocal changes- especially rapid ones, really brought the story to life. I really enjoyed the emotion and tonality of her voice.
Overall, this book met the standards for a great mystery/thriller. It’s one that should not be missed.
I would recommend this book to young adults on up in most genres. I look forward to reading more books from Gregg Dunnett and listening to narrator Kate Villa.

ARC audiobook provided in exchange for an honest review.

I’ll start by saying that Katie Villa was a perfect fit for narrating this book! She seamlessly jumps from one character to the next and I was always able to easily identify which character was talking. I normally am not a fan of books with too much police procedural involvement, but this was one of the few books I will make an exception for! It was reminiscent of The Lovely Bones only more focused on the surviving younger brother solving his sister’s murder years after the fact. It was incredibly well written and had so many twists that I didn’t see coming! If you like suspenseful stories about hunting down child killers, this book is for you!

Having a 10YO child myself, I was initially apprehensive about reading a book where a 10YO gets abducted and killed. (No worries... I promise this is not a spoiler.) However, I must admit this book drew me in and did not let go until the very last page. It was SO good! And the big revelation in the middle of the book only enhanced my reading experience going forward. This book is thrilling and suspenseful and creepy. I definitely look forward to reading more from Dunnett's catalog.

Layla and Gale are siblings. They are close. But then Layla dies at the age of 10. Two yrs later she comes back to visit Gale. He is now the age of 10. The same age she was when she died.
Layla was murdered and it is up to Gale to figure out what happened to her.
But he is only 10yrs old and no one will believe a child.
Gale has to not only figure out how to tell everyone he knows who the killer is, without saying that a ghost is telling him, but he also has to figure out a way to stop the murderer from killing again

“How did he have so much power when she had none?”
This book was brilliant. Keep me wanting to listen nonstop. The narrator was amazing.
Little Ghosts is a fantastic thriller. Layla and her family were at the beach having a day when ice cream sounds like a good idea. Her mother allows her and her brother to go indulge. Layla ends up missing and her body turns up later. There are no leads and no suspects. Time had passed and things are changing. Gale, her brother has been struggling to cope with her loss. One day it all changes. Answers are tumbling in even if no one believes them.

Everyone knew ten-year-old Gale was struggling with the aftermath of the abduction of his big sister Layla., but no one expected him to share that he knows who killed her.... because she told him.

I could not put this book down. I was hooked from page one. The whole thing has a creepy and deeply sad vibe that reminds me of 'The Lovely Bones' a bit, though it managed to avoid the level of depressing where you don't want to read it anymore.

The alternating perspectives are fantastic and the way you alternate between an adult perspective and a child's gives the story such depth. I also loved the way the book took a crazy turn only halfway through that shocked me. Even better, the story was just as engrossing after the big twist as it was prior with absolutely no let down at all. So well done!

I cannot wait to read more from this author!

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC of this audiobook. I enjoyed this book. I personally lost a sibling and the chance to get to see them again and communicate with them again would be an incredible experience. This book pulled at my heart and was more personal to me than anything else.

This book was very reminiscence of the Lovely Bones and I loved it. The way Layla’s ghost helped her brother solve the mystery of her murder was great. I loved how there were multiple points of view including the view point of the deranged murder.

I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy this book, it started off a tiny bit slow and initially I was a bit confused who was who in terms of the narrator's characters.

However, it quickly gripped me and I was fully absorbed. I absolutely loved it!

Little Ghosts tells the story of Gayle, a young boy whose sister Leila has been murdered. She begins to appear to Gayle in spirit and together they try to track down who killed her.

I mean the premise had me sold from the outset and it was wonderfully written, flitting between Gayle and the Detectives hunting his sister's killer. I don't want to give too much way but I really enjoyed it and was heavily invested in catching the culprit

Can't wait to read more from this author. Thanks so much for the opportunity.

This book was gripping and had me hanging on every word. Some of it was a little bit predictable.

I loved the characters, especially the kids. Their dialogue was clearly the most thought-through portion of the book.

I think the book was also a little bit long. It seemed to drag out, and some of the detail or the POVs seemed slightly redundant.

However, the climax was amazing. It was the least predictable part, but not in the "out of left field" kind of way. More in the "no, he didn't" kind of way.

Overall, it was a good book, and I would love to recommend both it and the audiobook to my friends and family. Thank you so much for the opportunity!

I LOVED this book!

Little Ghosts tells the story of the family, following 10 year old Layla's death. Layla's brother, Gale, is now turning the age Layla was when she was killed and he is visited my her ghost.
The majority of the book is told from Gale's point of view, but is interspersed with thoughts from the killer, who is seeking out their next victim.
The story then becomes a race against time for Gale to convince the police that he knows who killed his sister.

I was incredibly emotionally involved in this book, right from the first chapter. It was well written and easy to follow with some twists along the way. The story was a fairly simple one, but it had me gripped and desperate to find out how it would all play out.

My thanks to NetGalley and the Publishers for sending me an ARC in return for an honest review.

Thanks NetGalley for the audiobook version of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

This book starts as a young boy sees a ghost that only he can see- it’s the ghost of his older sister who had been abducted and murdered a few years ago. Since her death is still significantly affecting the family Gale and ghost Layla decide they need to find who this man is.

When I read the synopsis I didn’t expect to have the story told from the son’s point of view. At first this bothered me, for some reason, but after giving it a chance I warmed up to it. Another point of view was the murderer. The reader knows who this man is, as Layla’s ghost gives Gale the information but the challenge for him is that no one will quite believe him.

Knowing and meeting the killer is more frightening after the children’s perspective. His pet snakes- absolutely petrifying. Most of the book clips along with a good storyline and brilliant descriptions at times. The ending was solid, though it went on too long. Had it ended without the last chapter I think I would have preferred it, nevertheless I did enjoy the book.

Little Ghosts by Gregg Dunnett is written so beautifully. It has been a long time since I read a book that had me this engrossed. I enjoyed every aspect of the book and have zero complaints.

Katie Villa is slowly becoming one of my favorite narrators. The subtleties she adds to each character's voice to help differentiate is impressive.

Overall, I rate Little Ghosts 5 stars.
