Thank you Netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

This book follows a second chance romance between Lennon and Beckham. These two are paired together on a project at the same company. Their boss forces them to go on a trip. Unknowing to them, that trip would change their lives. The 'Pretty Little Mistake' in this book is a baby. Or as Lennon calls it, a sperm pet. This joke was funny the first time however I didnt like it being repeated throughout. I guess that represents Lennon and her sassy, witty personality.

This book also follows the pain and healing of these two characters. I didnt like how long it took for them to admit their feelings however when it got to Beckhams POV, his comments about her looks, her laugh, had me blushing. The development of Beckham was also very good and seeing him swoon was lovely.

Overall, Pretty Little Mistake was a 3.5 star read for me. Certain points for me I did not like, however these are my opinions and if you like them then please do read this! Micalea Smeltzer hit the nail on the head with the Office Romance genre though!

I am writing this review for Net Galley.

Lennon works for a magazine company where she runs into an old flame from her teenage years named Beckham. Beckham basically disappeared from her when they were teenagers. It was awkward to find herself in a situation working with him. Her boss assigns them to work on a project together that contains spending time together on a trip. Lennon did her best to either work professionally or avoid him until one night a lady would not leave Beckham alone finding him to run to Lennon to save him. From there they find themselves in an unplanned situation. Beckham asks Lennon to be his fake girlfriend.

I really enjoyed this story. It reminded me of reading The Hating Game. If you liked that story you will like this one. This is a slow romance story, however the author did a very good job of Lennons sassy character that I could not put it down. She was very funny.

There are quite a few sexual scenes in here. This is not exactly a light romance read. I did not like Lennons family. Beckham annoyed me at first but after learning more about his character background and how he took care of Lennon I came to understand where his thinking came from. Overall this is a well written story. It is an easy fast paced read and highly recommend.

He really thinks he has nothing to offer , that he is nothing. He has no idea that once upon a time, he was my everything.

This was my first Micalea Smeltzer book and I loved every second of it! This is a second chance, workplace romance with an accidental pregnancy involved. Lennon & Beckham were such a good match! They were truly equals and their banter never failed to entertain me. The side characters except Laurel weren't that great but I still enjoyed the story. The part where the baby was finally born was so heartwarming and I loved how Beckham subtly took care of Lennon even when he wasn't sure if he deserved her. They weren't together throughout the entire length of the book but they were a team in a sense. I always felt like they belonged together and I was rooting for them to realise the fact too. The epilogue was adorable and I just couldn't get enough of the book. It was definitely a good read!

This was my first book by Micalea and I was really pleasantly surprised! Let’s start with the basics. This book centers around Lennon and Beckham who were childhood friends to lovers. Unfortunately, they become enemies when Beckham takes Lennon virginity and then leaves town. The two haven’t seen each other in years until Lennon shows up for her new job and there’s Beckham!

-friends-lovers-enemies-lovers
-workplace romance
-accidental pregnancy
-forced proximity
-brother’s best friend

I know accidentally pregnancy is a very divisive trope but I personally love it when done right. This was absolutely done right! The build up of their relationship seems realistic and the pregnancy helps brings them together. A lot of readers will be thrilled to know there is no third act breakup and instead the story progresses through other plot points with conflict instead of creating unnecessary conflict for the main characters in their relationship. I really loved this one and flew through it after the 15% mark. It did start a little slow for me but once it picks up it flies! I should probably mention that Beckham is 6’6”!!!! He spoils Lennon and the baby in the best way and is just an all around fantastic MMC! I definitely recommend everyone pick this up when it comes out August 22nd. Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for making this available!

I loved all the tropes - friends to lovers then enemies to lovers and second chance romance. I enjoyed watching Lennon and Beckham grow and the author very skillfully grew tension without rushing it or throwing too much at us. It was just perfect and I would read something else by this author.

Let me just say that the title fits the story perfectly. This was a sweet and funny second chance romance story that I devoured within a few hours. I enjoyed the character and the storyline, as there was never a dull moment in this story. Lennon and Beckham (Sulli) back-and-forth banter were not only funny but entertaining. I love how they tried to hate each other only to lose the fighting battle and love each other more than they did before. Lennon gave as good as she got, and Beckham tested her in more ways than one. I liked Sulli's parents, but I'm sorry to say that I can't say the same about Lennon's, however, I am glad that her brother came around in the end. The story was sweet, and the ending was even better. I'm looking forward to reading more books from this author.

When I start a book at 10 pm and then stay up until 1 am finishing it you know it's good ! I devoured this one. There was spice, angst, banter, and humour. Can't ask for much more!

Lennon arrives to her dream job at Real Print magazine only to discover Beckett, her brother's previous best friend and her first love. The first love that abandoned her after their *first time*. Not ideal - especially when are tasked with a big partner project. Despite the strong hatred for each other, both are willing to grin and bear it to get the job done. But when a passionate weekend ends in a surprise pregnancy, they have to face their lingering hurt to come together for the baby. Will these two have a second chance at love?

Lennon was such a strong FMC. I am so glad she gave Beckett all the sass right back in true hate to love fashion. Their back and forth banter had me laughing often. I also felt all the angst and emotion from these characters. Thank goodness we had Beckett's POV because he had me both swooning and ready to shake some sense into him lol.

The "surprise pregnancy" trope is not typically one of my favourites, but it was really well done here. It added a layer to the complex relationship between Lennon and Beckett, especially Beckett's softie side. I appreciate that is wasn't all insta-love after this, but they had to put in the work for their renewed feelings and acknowledge past mistakes.

If I could give one critique it would be I wish we had a flashback to young Lennon and Beckett. Or more insight into why he left Lennon. When it was described in the current setting, it seemed weak that he would outright abandon her after what happened. Especially with all the resentment HE carried when I feel like he was more at fault. In his POV we get more insight into this, but still. Lennon's anger was 100% warranted. I always want more groveling, but I was happy with how their reunion played out.

ARC review

Pretty Little Mistake by @micaleasmeltzer is out on 22nd August.

Thank you to the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What happens when the one person you thought you’d never see again waltzes back into your life? One scandalizing night in an emotional novel by a USA Today bestselling author.

Lennon Wells and Beckham Sullivan should have been perfect for each other. Both vulnerable, both striving to please difficult families, and both broken by the past. Going from friends to lovers seemed inevitable. So did a bad ending. They thought—they hoped—they’d never see each other again.

Years later, bad luck or fate, Lennon and Beckham find themselves working for the same magazine. The wounds are still raw, but the chemistry is there. Then they’re forced to work together on a project. Some things never change, and all it takes is one impetuous night. One mistake. And Lennon discovers she’s pregnant.

With more in common than they ever had before, Lennon and Beckham are going to be in each other’s lives for a long time now, whether they like it or not. And they’re starting to. If only they can break from the generational traumas that hold tight and take a shot at something they never expected: a second chance.

Wow. Wow. Wow. This book is such an easy read. A guaranteed HEA with no third act drama or breakup which was a really refreshing change to the usual script. Lennon and Beckham are such relatable characters who just jump out of the page and into your heart.

Fantastic storyline with strong tones of found family, second chance romance, HEA, brothers best friend.
The spice is decent but not overwhelming and the angst is real.
An absolute 5* read.
I’d be preordering this for sure.

3.75 stars

Pretty Little Mistake is a great example of how to do the accidental pregnancy trope right. Author Micalea Smeltzer gives readers a compelling friends-to-lovers turned enemies-to-lovers tale that also incorporates forced proximity and second chance vibes.

I enjoyed how most of the conflict in the book was internal. This is not a bombastic book; rather, it’s a slow unfurling of feelings and character development that was a nice change of pace from some of the other books I’ve been reading lately.

Normally, accidental pregnancy as a trope in general feels a little forced to me, but honestly, it made perfect sense in this story. Fans of the trope won’t be disappointed, and those who, like me, are more reticent to read the trope will be pleasantly surprised.

Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I loved this book. It was edgy and raw and rushed me along with all the flurry of sensible decisions and cute actions. There was no suspense, just good writing and a feel good happy tale after the initial animosity,

This book was perfect. I couldn't get over Lennon and Beckham. I just needed more of them. Those two had such incredible chemistry and their banter was chef's kiss. The dealt with their pretty little mistake with such love and acceptance. They both truly became incredible parents to their babygirl and tried for the best. Their relationship only blossomed throughout the book, you could see their growth and maturity and how those two truly loved eachother. Their moments were so many and so great and adorable without the steamy ones missing. The ending was perfect for them

This is totally my fault, as I didn’t read the synopsis for this book and went in blind- but I’m not a fan of the unplanned pregnancy trope. This isn’t even a spoiler, it’s literally right there on the back of the book 😆 but since that happens about 30% into the book… meh. The story surrounding that isn’t bad- second chance lovers, childhood love and all that is delightful. I got major Hating Game vibes from Lennon and Beckham working together. But man, the unplanned pregnancy really grinds my gears, esp after like 2 nights together. I just couldn’t get past that. Again, totally my fault- don’t let me stop you from reading!

I went into this book completely blind. I read the description up until it said “author of The Confidence of Wildflowers”, and I immediately said to myself, “I’m in.” So I had no idea there would be an unexpected pregnancy and I’m so glad I didn't know because it was a nice surprise. About 30-35% through I found myself getting a little bored, wanting something more but by the time I was thinking that it started to pick up. I think Lennon and Beckham are cute together, even when their not “together” haha. He’s such a softie for her and I just love how good he his at reading her. There is a ton of tension between them which makes the spicy scenes so good. Enjoyed the book.

When I am asking for a surprise pregnancy book, I want such a story!

I know some people won’t like this book because there is zero drama and not much angst. However, that’s exactly what I liked about this book. It features a surprise pregnancy and focused exactly on that!

The characters are very sympathetic. They’ve known each other since their childhood but one day the hero disappeared and left our heroine’s heart broken. Now they have to work together and even go to a business meeting in a different city, so after a few drinks in the hotel bar, they strip each other bare…leaving with a lot more than just their luggage…

I enjoyed this book so much. The development of their relationship was wholesome. We get super cute pregnancy scenes which I often miss in other books. There is also a bit of fake dating involved which I loved even more. The banter between the characters was hilarious. The spice was hot and the character growth heartwarming. This book was such an enjoyable read! I highly recommend it. I also appreciate that there was no third act breakup! Thank god, I am really growing tired of them.
This book completely focuses on the pregnancy and the couples unexpected forced proximity.

In Pretty Little Mistake by Micalea Smeltzer, Lennon and Beckham, two individuals with a shared past, reunite after years apart. Working together at a magazine, they find that the chemistry between them is still strong. However, a single impulsive night leads to an unexpected pregnancy, forcing them to confront their traumas and consider a second chance at love.

I had such a blast reading this book! The banter between the characters was on point and had me hooked the whole time. Beckham, the brooding bad boy, had a major chip on his shoulder. He tried to scare her off with his rude attitude, but she wasn't having any of it. Gotta admit, I'm usually not into office romances, but this one didn't bother me at all. There wasn't any unnecessary drama, and the characters grew so much throughout the story.

It took a while for Lennon and Beckham to finally admit their feelings, but when they did, it felt so natural and real. The author really took their time to build up their relationship, and I appreciated that. And let's talk about the surprise pregnancy twist! Seeing Beckham all protective and stepping up was absolutely heart-melting.

All in all, this book had it all—funny banter, character growth, and a romance that hit all the right spots. I was totally invested in Lennon and Beckham's journey, and I couldn't put the book down. Highly recommended for those who love a good dose of sass and swoon!

** spoiler alert ** Received an ARC copy by Netgalley. Thank you so much!

First things first. The name for that cat. Cheddar. I just adored that cat throughout the book. He reminded me so much of Garfield.

When I read that Beckham had the nickname Honeybee, I almost smelted. It was just so cute.
I love Lennon. Her sassy mouth and her sprit was just awesome. I loved that you wouldn't take any shit from Beckham.

I really loved that they were childhood sweethearts, coming back together through work. What I loved most, was that the pain from the break-up. The emotions were really raw. The connection between them grow and grow by every chapter.

This was my first book by this author, and she did not disappoint. The pregnancy felt different. Most of the time, people stay together because of the baby, but I loved that wasn't really the case here. Lennon was fine by bringing up the baby alone. It showed the strength in women, which is very important nowadays.

"Because, no matter how you look at it, I'll always be the villain in your story."

I was 20% in, and I thought Beckham was such an arrogant jerk. You go for a business trip, both get sort of drunk and they have sex. After, he is just gaslighting her? Being mean to her? For what? Grow up. You are not a man. You are a boy. At the beginning, I wasn't a fan of him, but he grew on me.

Honestly, I did not expect the twist in this story. I could have seen it coming, but I didn't. Maybe, because I was too focused on that burger and I wanted to try it out 🤣
But I need to give Beckham credit for the way he has been acting. He is taking his responsibility, acting nice to Lennon.

When Laurel told about the child named Peanut, I just snort laughed so loud. That is just terrible. The reference to Harry Potter was great.

"We always have a choice."

The relationship between Lennon and Beckham was authentic. It was sweet and nice.

The perfect mix of sexy banter, enemies to lovers, and second chance! I devoured this book!

Pretty Little Mistake is another home run by Micalea Smeltzer. Beckham and Lennon's sexual tension was off the charts and kept me turning page after page. Cheddar is a close runner up of favorite character haha and was adorable with Beckham. I'm a huge fan of accidental pregnancy and it was written so well here. Highly recommend!

I am sorry, I’m sure this book will be enjoyed by many. Unfortunately it wasn’t for me.
It was like all of the popular tropes were squashed in together with a lacklustre plot and unlikable characters.
Brothers best friend, second chance, office romance, grumpy x sunshine, daddy issues, forced proximity, one bed, and why not throw in there’s every romance readers most hated trope the unexpected pregnancy right there at 20% of the book and continue on with pregnancy stereotyping, cringy dialogue and right where it’s getting super boring, let’s throw in some suspense with a two minute pregnancy scare and then just continue on with more cringey dialogue and please! we get it! he has a cat. Shut Up!

I get the name is called Pretty Little mistake, I really wanted this to be a great one, as I’ve heard a lot of good things about the authors other works, but I just couldn’t. I skimmed pages at a time and I still knew what was going on! This was a fail, the double POV didn’t help, nothing helped this story for me.
Sorry!
