‘Olivia Wolf and the Moldy Sandwich’ with story and art by Jose Fragoso is a graphic novel for younger readers set in a town full of monsters.

In this first book in the series, we meet Olivia Wolf, her family and friends and the town she lives in, Monstrocity. Things in town are peaceful until a teacher disappears. Now it’s up to Olivia and her monster and human friends to find them and figure out what a missing moldy cheese sandwich has to do with it all.

I love monsters and I immediately wanted to live in Monstrocity, where humans and monsters mingle in peace and strange things happen. The art is great and the story has a fun gross aspect that also teaches a bit of a science lesson.

This elementary graphic novel is a fun read for kids of all ages. It’s simplistic and it’s about friends and overcoming your fears. While this book is about monsters, it’s not a bit scary and does have at least one human character.

Olivia & the Moldy Sandwich an early graphic novel set in Monstrocity, a land where monsters and humans live together peacefully. When we meet Olivia Wolf and her friends, they’re off to school on a seemingly normal day, getting ready to take a test. At school, they notice something amiss. One of their professors is missing and there’s an awful smell hanging around. When a giant mold monster is poised to attack the school, Olivia and her friends work together to come up with a solution, saving the school and finding the professor, too.
This is a great graphic novel for readers just beginning to try out graphic novels. Characters are introduced at the start of the book with a picture and a brief description. While they’re monsters, they aren't scary--just brave and funny. Illustrations are fun and the story is fast paced. The book’s fart references will also amuse young readers! Hoping to see more of Olivia and her friends in the future.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an eARC of this book.

I've received an Arc by NubeOcho and Netgalley and I'm posting a voluntary honest review.

Also available in Spanish, Olivia Wolf and the Moldy Sandwich is a fun short (88 pages) graphic novel suitable for young readers about a city where monsters and humans live together in harmony.

Monstrosity is busy, where kids are superheroes and do good deeds on their way to the Academy and sometimes during their break. It has great character design and starts with mini character sheets presenting the entire cast of kids and their personalities. I already have a bunch of favorite little monsters.

It's great for young readers or to introduce graphic-novels to young readers. It shows large and simple panels, only a few per page making it easy to read and follow. Has humor, mystery, good silliness, and lots of action. It is fast-paced, and sometimes monsters go derange and attack the city, but in most cases, they just need a friend.

I love Olivia, Sam the invisible kid, but also Mario and Bella... Well... all the others too.

Although it is 88 pages only, this book covers a lot of events, making the day full - just like a kid's day usually is. It also introduces us to the world and future adventures.

Monstrocity is promising. The next episode sounds as fun as this one.

I received an electronic ARC from NubeOcho through NetGalley.
Readers meet characters from Monstrocity - a place where monsters and humans live together peacefully. Prior to the story's start, Fragoso introduces the characters. These friends are prepping for a test but something strange is happening at school. One of the teachers is missing; an odd smell is all over, and their one friend is searching for a missing item he can't find. Some readers will start to make connections, and some will enjoy the surprise of how everything fits together. In the end, they rescue the teacher, figure out the smell, find Fredy's lost item, and make a new friend. Mid to upper elementary level readers will appreciate the humor style and look forward to more books about Olivia and her friends.
