This is an excellent book for teaching kids about their feelings and the things around them. I expected it to be a lot like the other children's books on emotions (ie deep breaths, 5 senses, etc), but it was so much more than that. For example, it teaches kids about finding their safe people and what that means/how it looks, then gives them the opportunity to draw about their safe people. It also teaches the adults how to interact in combination with what they've learned, like instead of saying "I am a safe person" you can say "I hope I will be a safe person to you some day". Just through and through, it was set up so well for both the children and the adults going through the book, and I will definitely be purchasing this to use physically with my own kids.

These are great activities for anyone who works with children. I will be adapting some of these for use in my classroom.

Thank you so much to Jessica Kingsley Publishing And Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

I love the Riley the brave books as they are so amazingly crafted to teach all about emotions and senses to children, so I was excited to see an new one, though this is slightly different it’s still a really great book and a perfect addition to the series.

This is an activity book, it has lots of facts to guide an adult on how to understand feelings, emotions, senses and guide a child struggling with their mental health. It also gives a great guide as it is broken into smaller sections with fun activities, questions and tasks to get you thinking.

This is brilliant for children, it connects them to the books within the series, and would be a perfect read along by doing this activity book and reading them. It teaches so many important things to young children helping them to understand their mental health, helping them to learn all about feelings and emotions, how to regulate them, how to express them, why they get them, why other children may be doing things, who it is they can trust, what it is that goes one with their bodies and minds and why it feels certain ways. It’s a wonderful book for really helping children with their mental health.

What I really ultimately loved about this book was that it came with so many activities and they are all so different and so much fun, from colouring in pages, to mazes, cutting out projects, to answering questions, drawing images and so much more. It gives children something fun to do but is also an important thing to do.

The book obviously comes with the same beautiful illustrations style we see in the book series and I always loved seeing them and seeing them help be guides through the book too was great. It’s important to offer a visual to children so they can understand everything more.

This is an important book that could also be a great book for schools to use as a perfect guide for a child struggling mentally. It’s also one I would recommend to adults to have for their children. It’s an easy to follow and understand book, it’s laid out in lots of sections and has so many fun activists and information throughout.

I love this! I am a youth mental health therapist, and I am constantly looking for resources to do and share with my clients and their families. I love that this particular one is trauma informed. These activities are definitely ones I would share with my clients, and do with my own personal children. I will definitely be recommending this book to my client's parents.
