This book tells the story of a family during the Cuban Revolution. It tells the tale of two officers who fought for Cuba against the Spanish. Perez' story is told through generations of ancestors. This is both a memoir and in-depth historical research. The family eventually flees to the US and lives in New York City. A great deal is known about the Cuban Revolution but less is known about the people who actually lived through it. Thanks to Net Galley for this wonderful, informative book.

Lisandro Perez’s “The House on G Street” is a lovingly written homage to his family’s history in a pre-Fidel Cuba. Having lived amongst Cubans with similar histories to the one Perez relates, his warm words ring true. It’s his family’s story and it’s a unique one. His prose is warm and as is the read. Thank you to #netgalley and #nyupress for the chance to preview an advance copy.
