This book was silly from start to finish. The engaging illustrations show animals preparing lunch for their friends in the most round about and amusing way. This tale begs to be read aloud with exaggerated expressions and voice. While some will probably scratch their heads and wonder what just happened, I think this book will be well received by children.

This was a delightful picture book featuring a number of animals children will be familiar with as they go about making a peanut butter sandwich. Love the inclusion of a wide variety of animals and this will be a wonderful read-aloud and a book that can be interactive. I would even use it for upper elementary for predictive text and decoding. I would recommend for public and school libraries to purchase as well as families to enjoy together.

This books was an extremely over the top and silly story about making a peanut butter sandwich. I think kids will enjoy this story and laugh a lot! It could be tied into an activity having kids describe the process to making a sandwich.

What a hilarious book showing the steps and the many critters learning how to make a peanut butter sandwich. They are all given jobs to do or food to get, and on the way each critter manages to give us a laugh. Kids will love this book!

They do say teamwork makes the dream work, right? Lol

I picked this book up expecting some shenanigans to occur if you require more than three steps to make a peanut butter sandwich and it did not disappoint!

I loved how the book began with all that was needed and I could just imagine the incredulous look any young reader seeing it would have. It’s very colorful and fun and in a way speaks to capitalism lol …okay maybe not but all the animals seem to always pay for what they take which I did not expect but I thought was nice to remind everyone that stealing is not okay. Hehe.

How to Make a Peanut Butter Sandwich in 17 Easy Steps is a hilarious picture book with charming characters and engaging illustrations. The simple premise quickly moves to the absurd with very funny results. This book would be a terrific start to any writing lesson on procedural or recount writing for kids. I also thought there was a strong sense of responsibility in this story which would be another great lesson (e.g., how the animals returned the hat). I believe kids will request this book be read over and over again!

This is a very cute story about making a peanut butter sandwich for all your woodland friends. The things you need is very funny for adults. Kids might not think it is as funny. The crows and raccoons have to go to the market. The raccoon has to learn to juggle. The crows, mice and squirrels divide the money the raccoon earned juggling. The crow takes the money to settle up with the farmer. Then the skunk along with the mice and otter go to the bakery to get bread. The baker was not happy with the skunk. They pay before leaving. Then the skunk and squirrels go to the nut shop. The raccoon shells the peanuts. The donkey puts on clogs and crushes the peanuts. The beaver whittles the log into a knife. Then he scrapes the peanut butter into a jar. The crows peel the bananas. The badger slices them into rounds. Then it's a team effort to spread the peanut butter on the bread and add the banana slices. Sandwiches are put together and loaded onto a skateboard. Everyone meets up at the park for a wonderful picnic. Teamwork.
Cute illustrations.

A cute book with animals working together to create a 17-step process for making a peanut butter sandwich! I think this would be best for lower elementary. A silly counterpoint to making lists to complete a task. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this eARC!

Synopsis (from Netgalley, the provider of the book for me to review.)
*********************************************************
This is a slightly overcomplicated and highly hilarious guide to making a peanut butter sandwich with all your critter friends.
It’s lunchtime, and all the animals are hungry. In fact, you’re feeling hungry too, and you know exactly what to make—delicious peanut butter sandwiches for everyone! The recipe is surprisingly complicated, but you’re not worried. You gather the critters and a few necessary items (the peanuts and bread, of course, and don’t forget the accordion and wooden clogs!), and then you get started!
All the characters in this hilarious how-to have an important role in the making of this lunchtime staple. The raccoon earns the money to pay for the groceries, the crows and the mice gather the ingredients, the donkey and the beaver work hard on the hands-on (or hoofs- and paws-on) preparation, and the skunk … well, the skunk has an essential role to play too!
Bold, charming artwork leaves something to discover on every page, and kids will laugh out loud as they puzzle through the many steps necessary to the making of this favourite sandwich.

I call my hubby SKIPPY as he loves his PB sandwiches so much … and he is so slow at making them that I wonder what he is doing half the time. Last time I checked there were not any critters in there with him, though. (My dad holds the record for taking 48 minutes to make a sandwich and reheat the soup!) Kids will love this book as it is fun and really off the wall: not that they can take a peanut butter sandwich to school anymore due to the allergy police. (I get it, okay, but I am deathly allergic to ham and it's not like they will outlaw those at lunch!)
Highly recommended. #shortbutsweetreviews

This was a cute and clever how-to book meets If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. The fun illustrations and silly antics of the animals will keep kids entertained. It would be a fun writing activity to have kids create their own version using animals from different habitats.

Who knew that making a simple peanut butter sandwich could be a little more complicated than we thought? How to Make a Peanut Butter Sandwich in 17 Easy Steps is a silly book about a group of animals who work together and each have an important role in making this popular sandwich. This fun story would be a great one to use when introducing "How To Writing" in the Elementary classroom. Although I felt like 17 steps was a little bit excessive, this was a cute and well illustrated that will be enjoyed by all!

Thank you Owl Kids Books, Bambi Edlund, and NetGalley for the ARC and opportunity to review this book!

Utterly charming. This book is a delight to read with sweet illustrations and a endearing plot (that I was surprised and chuckled at). I think both adults and children will find this a fun read, and guessing what the shopping list items will be for and 17 steps will be to make a peanut butter sandwich.

This reminded me a little bit of "If you give a mouse a cookie" but with steps instead. A cute story, but it was a little too chaotic for me.
