I enjoyed this one but I wasn't in LOVE with it. It was an entertaining story but there was never a time where I was itching to read the next chapter. A very much middle of the pack read for me, good not great, but I would still recommend it. Tells a cute story about discovering your place in life. It may be better suited for someone going through a tough time who may need the message or relate to it, a little bit more than I did!

Thank you so much for allowing me to read and review this story. The review will be posted to my instagram @manymerrybooks

Sophie Cousens does it again! I'm just so charmed by her books. I'm not the world's biggest fan of romances, but there's something about these novels that truly hit my sweet spot. And I think The Good Part swooped in and stole the number one spot from Before I Do, my previous fave!

I found this book so charming, clever, poignant and even thought-provoking. I didn't know the premise going in because I am the queen of going into books almost totally blind. So I was so pleasantly surprised by how the story unfolded. Also, it's laugh-out-loud funny! I really fell in love with the characters. They came alive on the page for me, and I was rooting for Lucy to make everything work and solve all of her life's mysteries.

I think this book portrays so much wisdom and would make a satisfying book club pick. The conversations would be deep and fascinating. So glad I read this book.

This was good! While I didn’t *love* the main character, this gave major 13 going on 30 vibes and overall, I really enjoyed this story.

I can relate as a 26 year old myself on what it would be like to “skip to the good part” of my life.

The good part follows the story of a young woman, trying to follow her dreams of working in television, but feels stuck. After a disastrous day, she makes a wish to skip to ‘the good part’ of life and the wish is miraculously granted. She flashes forward 16 years and struggles to fill in the gaps and adjust to a completely different life. Initially she wants to find her way back to her old life and self, but it seems impossible. The story follows the journey of success, and heartbreak as she learns and finds her self in this new life, while holding on to hope that she can find a way back to her old self, no matter how conflicting that may be.

This may be the best book I’ve read all year. The emotion, the struggle and relatability (not to time traveling of course) made this so beautiful. Dealing with issues of aging bodies, changing priorities, career and relationship challenges and navigating through them made The Good Part so incredible.

The writing was paced well, and I didn’t feel as though it stalled, and was able to keep my attention. While you hoped for a certain resolution, it appeared unreachable for the majority of the book. The unpredictability was a breath of fresh air and I love how the ending played out. I will be recommending this book to others.

This was a cute magical realism novel with an interesting premise. Lucy is a 20 something wishing she could just get to the “good part” of her life. One day she wakes up and is living a future where all her dreams for her life have come true. As she navigates her new reality, she finds that skipping the journey to get to the good part might not be worth it. Overall, this was a cute book with a somewhat rushed conclusion.

⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a chance to read and review this new release.

I don’t know how to rate this one so I went with the average 3. I liked it but also didn’t at the same time. I think I didn’t really like the main character. I thought she was obnoxious and overdramatic, but then again, I probably would act similar to here if I was in her situation. I also am unsure of how I feel about the ending. I think part of it is because the ending felt rushed.

This book has all the 13 Going on 30 vibes and I am so here for it because that is my favorite movie of all time!

It’s hard to write a review for this one without spoiling the story. I have read 3 out of 4 of this authors books and they all have just been okay. I do like her writing style and the humor that she uses with her characters.

Overall not a bad story, just one that felt average to me.

Gosh I love Sophie Cousens. Her writing is perfect and the cover art is so cute every time. I'll definitely read anything and everything that she writes.

An easy and engaging read that veered a little too cutesy for me, and ended up being a little forgettable

Thank you NetGalley and Penguin for the chance to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

LITERALLY like a 2000’s rom-com and I freaking ATE THIS UP!! Highly recommend for anyone who loves time travel and a life lesson of just living in the moment and enjoying the steps to get to the good part of life.

I really enjoyed this book! It was my first magical realism type of plot and I’m excited to read more in this genre.
I really loved Lucy, she was such a strong FMC despite her not so great apartment, current job and the London dating scene. I would have also spent 11 cents at a wishing machine if my life looked like hers LOL I really enjoyed seeing Lucy in the “good part” of her life, Felix was so hysterical and I loved the portrayal of real mom life - the messes, the never-ending chores, barely any time for yourself. This story does have some sadder themes in it with both adult & infant death, which made me sad for Lucy and Sam. I do wish we had more of Sam and Lucy’s love story, this definitely wasn’t a romance to me and was more contemporary fiction. The reason why it wasn’t a 5 star for me was because I was missing something and I think it was my connection to Lucy, along with some of the British slang was hard for me to understand and I had to look up some words. Thank you to Sophie Cousens & Penguin Group Putnam for the eARC in exchange for my honest review!

If I could have any superpower it would be the ability to time travel, so I’ve always been a sucker for those tropes. This a feel-good story for those eager to rush through life. It’s a good reminder to slow down and live in the now as best as you can. I definitely recommend it!

Love, love love, love love LOVED this book! The writing was witty and fun, the characters were lovable, the plot was creative. I just loved it all. I read this book so fast, I couldn't put it down! I loved Lucy's character. I think everyone can relate to wanting to skip to the good part of their life (and then learning even if your life seems put together, it's not). I thought the concept for this book was just so fun. Usually books involving time travel of any kind I am not into, but this was just so cute.

If you're looking for a light-hearted feel-good story, this is the one for you! Big shoutout to Netgalley for the advanced copy of this book (even if I am VERY late to reading it).

'The Good Part' by Sophie Cousens is a book that will stay with me for a long time. I have read it twice even prior to producing this review. It takes place in a world that is very far removed from mine, yet the human relationship issues are profoundly relatable. I don't want to reveal anything that would impede absolute enjoyment to all readers, but I do want more. I want a part 2 so I can get all the Good Parts!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This book gave words to so many of my own thoughts and fears, but in the best way possible. Have you ever wished you could just skip the hard parts of your life and get straight to the good part? To pass the days of heart break, low bank balances, insecurity, and career instability? Cousens tackles all this and more, truly showing the pros and cons. I won’t spoil the ending, but I will say that this book did give me a greater appreciation for the struggles of life and how it all makes you the person you are and will be. This is 13 Going on 30 meets Big in the best way!

3 stars overall. I loved the unique plot line- being thrown years into the future, to the “good part,”- and experiencing this alongside the author as she come to terms with the life she doesn’t know. However. I found it difficult to relate to her personally and to really believe the love between the two characters.

I had trouble finishing the book. I didn't like the main character, Lucy. Her whining, even her job, in TV which is what she wants, is a whine fest. She can't do a thing right and I got annoyed with her. Even when she wakes up in the future she's a pill. I like Sam & Felix. Her friends are ok but enabler stereotypes. The premise was so interesting that I'm very disappointed that it didn't work out.

Tired of her crappy apartment and getting dumped on at work, Lucy makes a wish (a la the Tom Hanks movie Big 🤣) to skip to the good part of her life…

I’m officially in my Sophie Cousens era. ✨ I flipping loved this book! It was funny, touching, and charming. A pleasure to read. Watching Lucy fall in love with her husband and kids was so special. I honestly didn’t know how it would wrap up (stay in the future or go back?!), and I wasn’t sure how I even wanted it to. But it was perfect and even had me crying a little. 🥹 Five heartwarming stars. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Sophie is now an auto buy author for me. Her books are always more than romance—sweet friendships, humor, and a heavy dose of serendipity. They make me feel happy to be a reader! 🫶

A million thank yous to the publisher and NetGalley for the e-arc!! 🧡🧡

I love Sophie Cousens, so I was looking forward to this book. I’m not all that into the fantasy element, so it was one I waited to read for a while. If you find yourself in a similar situation, get over it and read it right now. It is an incredibly poignant exploration of life, and was so thought provoking for me. What is “the good part”? What do you lose by constantly wishing to move forward, or wishing you can return to the past? It’s something I find myself doing constantly, and reading the book helped me to think more about the beauty of the present. The book was a deeper read, but was not heavy throughout. Sophie Cousens’s books always have equal parts heart and humor. This book was truly one of my favorites of the year, and one that I will certainly remember. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the e-arc.
