From page 1, I was so, so in on this fun read, it’s insane. Spurned wife and best friend make a revenge pact on a cheating, narcissistic a-hole? Sign me up.

Eva and Ethan are both so similar, but so different at the same time, and from their first interaction you could clearly tell that beneath their frenemies relationship, there was much more.

Eva is incredibly driven and knows exactly what she wants, but her self-doubt and tunnel vision make her relatable at the same time. Ethan is not your typical insta-billionaire type MMC, and I truly enjoyed reading about one that did something more charitable with their money for a change.

Excited to see what else Brooke comes up with in this new series.

*Thank you to the author and @NetGalley for giving me this #arc book in exchange for my honest review.*

Being honest… I'm a bit conflicted.

On one hand… Give me an enemies to lovers that is SPICY as hell ANY day of the week.

On the other… Part of me is very confused about how I should feel about the morals of the book. The husband is a cheater & Eva was leaving him once her Visa application went through, but cheating as revenge? Not quite sure I can condone that.

Putting the conflictions aside, 'The Revenge Pact' was a entertaining & saucy romance that was easy to read. It's not the next best drama book that'll have you sobbing, but it doesn't try to be; it knows it's fun & make sures to party the hell out of that fact.

& because it doesn't take itself too seriously, I can overlook the revenge cheating aspect a little & not take it quite so seriously myself; instead, I was able to focus on (& enjoy!) the blossoming relationship between Eva & Ethan (which was rather cute).

Because of that, I'm giving 'The Revenge Pact' 4/5 stars.

ARC REVIEW
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Very cute story. Definitely recommend reading

I don’t normally love books with a cheating trope but I def recommend this one it was very well done. I was mad at Eva for some of the shit she pulled but that’s what makes a good book 🤣

I found myself a little confused at times but I think that was just my brain processing things slower than I was reading lol. I couldn’t put it down I was INVESTED lol Loved the spice 😍

-multiple POV
-enemies to lovers
-possible trigger- multiple cheating events
-sweet and spicy romcom
-revenge
-grand gesture

I can’t wait to read more from her

A revenge plot line like this for a romance was new for me and I’m not entirely sure it was for me.
I think there was some humour out moments with the early revenge plan and this definitely could’ve been indulged a little more for comedy value but also to build on the characters and their relationships but the characters were a little lacking in depth but also Eva and Ethan didn’t seem to have the sexual tension or chemistry I had hoped.
I don’t know though if this fell a little flat because the revenge that Eva and Ethan decided to follow through which brought about their love was morally wrong…. Two wrongs don’t make a right!? Right.???
Certainly funny at times and was a quick and easy read

Once i started i was hooked and i couldn’t stop reading, the plot was so interesting and intriguing it had you not wanting to look away from the page! I have totally riled myself up with never-going-to-happen revenge come-backs, so this one was perfect.

There are some great funny moments, it was spicy and complicated. Ethan and Eva's enemies to lovers ,fake relationship romance has so many complex layers and I loved the change of pace for a RomCom.

On her wedding day, Eva finds out that her husband is cheating on her with her friend but she has to go through the marriage because her citizenship is depending on it. She has decided to take revenge on him and having a revenge affair with her husband's best friend Ethan Steele. But Ethan hates her ...or does he?

Tropes:
Enemies to Lovers✔️
Fake Dating✔️
Cheating✔️

I will keep this UNUSUALLY s h o r t & sweet. The Revenge Pact checked ALL my boxes with the mentioned tropes. I LOVE enemies to lovers, & eat fake dating UP, and a CHEATING trope?! YASSSS.. It can turn scandalous AF and I was like ooop 💁🏻‍♀️

NONE of these things were the "problem".. it was how I had the hardest time CONNECTING with the characters. I didn't feel one way or another for them & that's where the problem relies. I didn't FEEL so it FELL FLAT.

All the characters seemed self-centered.
Ethan and Eva weren't really enemies they were more just annoyed with each other than anything.
A big reason Ethan would call her "Evelyn" is because he said that she once said she preferred to be called that but then towards the end he called her Eva. When he was adamant of calling her Eva. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Eva was just WRONG all the way. It wasn't the cheating that I didn't like it was her just USING people.
Joe sucked and so does Ashley. Only person I really liked was Rachel tbh.

Also.. I rarely (IF EVER) point my dislikes in a review but I HAVE TO at least point SOME out.
- the abbreviations of IRL instead of (in real life) felt awkward.
- & well.. just THIS some metaphors that were in the SPICY scenes just killed the mood.

Whenever I write LOW rating reviews.. I like to point out the following that I AM a TOTAL ✨MOOD✨ reader.
What does that mean?
It's to say that just because I didn't like THIS particular book from Brooke Stanton.. it doesn't mean I won't like ANY of them. It means that although it didn't work for ME.. it totally doesn't mean it won't work for YOU.

Happy Pub Day to this one! Also hooked from the first line! The characters are obviously dealing with complicated situations (I felt so bad for Eva) but things couldn't feel more light. I'm amazed by Stanton's writing. And I love Ethan with his teddy bear and polar bear shirts 🤌🏻

*3.5 stars*

Definitely don't judge The Revenge Pact by Brooke Stanton by the cover! It is no cute rom Com. Though there are some funny moments, it was spicy and complicated. Ethan and Eva's enemies to lovers ,fake relationship romance has so many complex layers and I bet everyone will have different reactions to it.

On her wedding day, Eva finds out that her husband is cheating on her with her friend but she has to go through the marriage because her citizenship is depending on it. But she has to take revenge on him and having a revenge affair with her husband's best friend tech nerd turned billionaire Ethan Steele is her best bet. But Ethan hates her and she is not sure if she can go through it.

This book has cheating so don't pick this up if you have issues there. I personally don't hate this trope IF the plot is right and the emotions are well done. Unfortunately this book didn't have it. Eva is a very unstable character. She is perfectionist and a planner and the marriage was part of her carefully crafted plan and probably she loved her husband. But it wasn't very clear from her action. She was definitely hurt and angry and disappointed but it was hard to say if this was from heartbreak or from something else. Ethan was her husband's best friend but Ethan was also betrayed by Joe ( the husband) and so he hates Joe now. Even though he didn't like the marriage previously, now suddenly he can see Eva's great qualities. That made no sense to me and felt very fake. The author tried to show the love blooming between Eva and Ethan through the mess but I mostly felt that Eva was using Ethan and Ethan was manipulated by her. Even at the end..I am not sure if Eva really got over Joe and fell in love or just jumped from one convenient ship to another. I liked Ethan better because his actions were real and reasonable. There are some heartbreaking angsty scenes and some emotional turmoil but not enough for me to feel for their relationship.

Once i started i was hooked and i couldn’t stop reading, the plot was so interesting and intriguing it had you not wanting to look away from the page because you were so excited to see what’s coming next. Eva and Ethan together were the perfect enemies to lovers combination with him falling first and being the one who both grounded her and set her free. I really think the Author showed us the depth of both MCs in the story and I highly recommend it! This was such a fun and quick read, and i will definitely be reading more of Brooke Stanton’s work.

This was an entertaining, well-written book. It was fun steamy, fast-paced and held my interest. I enjoyed this book and will look for more books by this author.

While this book was a quick read, I did not really enjoy it at all. The main female character is not likable - trust me, I tried - and the entire premise is focused around cheating, which is not something I'm a huge fan of as a trope. If other things had gone better, I definitely could have looked past it.

This book is very steamy with descriptions of sex that I would consider truly terrible. I love smut and read it all the time, but this is not it. It would pull me out the story and just ruin the scene for me. But without good character and plot development, it just fell flat.

The author gets credit for writing and publishing a book because that is hard and it did hold my attention - I was intrigued enough and enjoined the banter to read to the end.

I'd be hesitant to pick up this author's next book because I can't do the cringeworthy smut again. But this would be an entertaining read for lots of romance readers.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy. All opinions are my own.

The first page had me already. I was so invested, right at the beginning.
Eva finds out her husband is cheating on her and starts planning her revenge with his best friend.
It was a fun little read, even though it had some major time-skips in it. Even though she cheated right back (big no no), this was such a fun read and I kinde wish the book was a little longer with more revenge-jokes at her (ex-)husband.
Also, the fact that Ethan wears button-ups with little animals on it is hilarious to me.
Def 4/5 stars!

I enjoyed this book way too much. I was laughing out loud for most of it 😂

The plot was the best!! Getting revenge to another level and truth is that jackass Joe deserved it all!!!

So we have Eva who’s going to marry Joe, when she finds out that he’s being cheating with his ex! 😤so after some research of ways to get back at him, she sees that hooking up with his best friend may be the way! (Enters Ethan) And better if he also wants to get revenge 🔥

You may be thinking why not just break up with the guy?? Well, she finds out on THEIR WEDDING DAY!! Like are you for real? Cheating and still going through the wedding as if nothing 💀 of course she has her reasons and I don’t want to spoiled so you need to read this 🤷🏻‍♀️

As you can notice, I loved the comedy of the book the most but still Ethan and Eva truly were meant for each other🩷

The Revenge Pact had me from the first line. It didn’t take long to get hooked on this book at all, it was so bingeable! Things happened that I never would have expected which kept it interesting and made me want to know more and find out how it was all going to play out. I couldn’t relate at all to Eva, as I hadn’t been in her situation or anything similar but boy did I want her to get revenge on Joe almost as much as she did. Ethan was a great character and I love how he stuck by Eva even though she did some questionable things towards the end. The ending was all tied up neatly and I am glad Eva got what she wanted in the end. The end scene at Ethan’s house was pretty adorable too! I was so happy I got to read this and definitely one I recommend for an easy quick read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

First of all, this book has cheating as a main topic. If that’s not your thing, this isn’t the book for you. Ignore the bad reviews that exist solely because people don’t like books with cheating. Not liking a troupe doesn’t make it a bad book 🙄

More that that’s out of the way, this book was cute. It was a little soap opera-ish, gave me some Desperate Housewives vibes with some of the outlandish revenge ideas. It was fun, quick, easy read.

There were some storylines that were too unbelievable though and it felt like parts of the story were missing at times. Like when the MCs went from enemies to lovers, there was no real build up or explanation as to why. I wish the book were a little longer and we got some more details.

What happens when you discover your new husband is screwing his ex-girlfriend just before your wedding?

You make a revenge pact with his best friend who hates you.

This was a fun, entertaining steamy romp, with two interesting, flawed characters. Eva is a focused, type A personality with lists and spreadsheets, who loses sight of just having fun and being a bit more freewheeling. Ethan is burnt from a previous relationship so he eschews love. I also really liked best friend Rachel who called out Eva when she was being ridiculous and Eva's supportive boss Derrick.

Normally I shy away from revenge stories as they tend to be over-the-top and ridiculous to a point where I don't find them funny or entertaining and skim through, but this book was nothing like that. I appreciated that Stanton knew when to reign her characters in at the right moment to let the romanctic and emotional beats shine through.

It's Eva's wedding day and she should be excitedly waiting to walk down the aisle. Instead, she's laying on the floor in her wedding dress, listening through the crack under the door as her groom Joe's ex-girlfriend confesses that they've been having an affair. All Eva wants to do is run, but it's more complicated than that... she and Joe were secretly married months earlier and her visa application is reliant on their marriage lasting.

Alone and panicking, the last person Eva expects comes to her rescue; Joe's best friend Ethan. She doesn't know it yet, but Ethan has just discovered his own betrayal by Joe and is out for revenge. With his help, she gets through her wedding day and they enter into a pact; they'll get Joe for what he has done to them.

As time goes on and Joe becomes less secretive about his affair, Eva and Ethan decide to step it up with an affair of their own. What could be worse for Joe than his wife and his best friend? But with this line crossed, who will be the winners when it all blows up?

Thank you to Author @brooke_stanton_writes @netgalley @victoryeditingngc for this ARC. All opinions shared within this review are my own.

I really enjoyed this story and empathised with Eva and everything Joe was willing to take from her through his actions. It was easy to hate Joe, and that feeling only compounded as more of his choices came to light. I know that many readers don't like to read active cheating; but honestly the relationship was over before their wedding day and I didn't begrudge Eva for her actions.

Eva and Ethan together were the perfect enemies to lovers combination with him falling first and being the one who both grounded her and set her free. I really think the Author showed us the depth of both MCs in the story and I highly recommend you give it around when it's published on June 20th 🥳

I enjoyed reading this book very much, it made me laugh out loud at times. The main character Eva finds out on her wedding day that her husband is cheating on her and decides to get revenge - with the help of her husband's best friend. The things she comes up with are hilarious - I loved it. The love story between Eva and Ethan felt a bit implausible at times and the bedroom scenes felt not quite right to me but apart from that this is a very entertaining book.

I don't know what to say. I hate Eva so much. I'm not even sure how to put my thoughts on this book into words.

Obviously cheating isn't okay and it isn't Eva's fault that Joe cheated on her but she was a sh*t girlfriend and fiance. He should have broken up with her and moved on. Ethan is adorable and deserved way better than what he got. Then his scene with Jasmine when she said he broke up with her because he didn't want to explore sex with extra people and that was somehow on him. She loved him but he wasn't enough for her and since he didn't respect that it was his fault their relationship didn't work. I just feel like the theme of this book was "no matter how the woman is, cold and distant or wanting to have an open relationship, the man should agree and if not he's the problem" and that's just not something I'm on board with.

Anyway, 3 stars because the author took the time to write and publish a book and that deserves something.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.

PS - This is NOT a 5 alarm spice book
