This wasn't for me. Nothing really happened and I didn't find the dialogue realistic.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Between the ages of 5 and 25 I wanted to be a pro wrestler. That was all I wanted, sadly my neurological system felt I was better suited for other endeavors. This book gave me the feels. I could see myself and my friends at the time as Scorpion. The announcers were kind of annoying and I'll be honest I skipped over them at times, but the book is solid.

A SCORPION IS BORN is a short novel that follows the beginning of Jean-Paul’s career as a professional wrestler. The majority of the novel describes Jean-Paul’s first day of wrestling school as he meets his wrestling idol, bonds with two other students, and begins to learn the basics. The last part of the novel summarizes the next few weeks of school and ends with a cliffhanger when another student joins the school. A SCORPION IS BORN is a decent look at the pro wrestling world and early part of training. The dialog is loquacious and overformal, making it a bit difficult to read.
