This was really well done. The magical elements were good. I just felt like the writing was lacking a little bit and could've had more polish to it. Other wise it was good

Hekate's Return was an interesting story from the very beginning. I will say the book seemed like it was a story in the middle of another book. There is a lot of backstory you just do not have. They walk you right into the witch culture without really telling you what the culture is about. They mention characters and even the "big bad" of the story without giving the why's behind it. This became confusing for me. The magic system was confusing. I was not quite sure how it worked or who had magic or why. They used a lot of italicized words like "command" or "presence" but did not go into what that meant.
The story with the Twins made the story more engrossing but I found myself wondering what was going on. How did they get left behind? Why are they allied with the witches? What powers do they actually have? Those things really never get a clear answer. At the end of the story, the separation of characters also left a lot to be desired. It felt haphazard.
I would have loved to see more world building in the start and end of the story. I think it could have included a lot more in the way of explaining and enlarging the world.

Harris's writing style is clean and straightforward, with just the right amount of detail for us to form the rest in our heads. I loved how he described the entryway to a witch's connection to their power as something within themselves that is first found through through inner presence or mindfulness. We all have some magical abilities within ourselves when we slow down and actually listen. I also appreciated the accurate historical background behind the mythological characters and Bronze Age living and belief systems.

Devoured this book in one sitting. It started with action right off the bat . Amazing world building and plot. It was a really fun quick read and the characters were interesting. I think the cover doesn't do justice to this amazing story about Hekate's magick and the history of the witches.
Really enjoyed it!

I had a hard time keeping up with this book, the POV seemed to be inconsistent so I never felt like I could understand what was truly going on. I ended up skimming a very large portion of this. I thought the idea sounded really interesting but I personally couldn’t get past the changing perspectives. I do think anyone who enjoyed Circe would truly enjoy this one; the feel was similar.

Thanks Mark, & Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book.
I've read a ton of fantasy, but never any that Truly focused on witches.
Thanks for the unique book, with engaging characters, twisty story and memorable plot.
I would recommend this book.

This was a simply amazing read I enjoyed every single moment and found myself to be totally blown away by both the characters and the plot which was so innovative and so cleverly written.
