Marni has a way with words!!! This is book 5 in the Dalton brothers series and it did not disappoint!!! Camden is known for being the ultimate bachelor until one night he makes a deal with his twin sisters best friend. Best friends brother has become one of my favorite tropes. This one brings the spice & the tension is palpable!

Thank you NetGalley for this early copy!

Camden Dalton, the ultimate bachelor, has wanted his twin sister's best friend, Oaklyn, since they met at age 12, the feeling mutual. But he promised his sister he would stay away from her close friends so Oaklyn has always been off limits.

When Oaklyn propositioned Camden with taking her virginity and teaching her how to please a man, Camden couldn't resist. He wanted just a taste but he knew he would be playing a dangerous game and there would be consequences. So this arrangement needed to be on his terms: no emotions, no falling in love, just a few lessons built from Oaklyn's fantasies with nothing more.

The steam absolutely never slowed down, red hot and intense, all-consuming and full of need. Camden was naughty, insatiable, animalistic. He was demanding and possessive, dominant and taking control, a true alpha. He could've brought any girl to her knees but Oaklyn was the one he wanted. I loved how she affected him and how she brought out his vulnerability. She was everything he had ever wanted but didn't even realize until Oaklyn's proposition.

What would happen when feelings and emotions became involved and it was more than just one night? What would 'more' look like? And what would happen if Camden's sister found out?

The Bachelor had the perfect foundation for Camden and Oaklyn's story but I was ultimately disappointed even though I devoured The Intern. Part of the problem was the audiobook narrators. Oaklyn seemed immature and needy, annoying at times, and I couldn't warm up to her or to Camden. Neither narrator convincingly brought the characters to life the way I had envisioned them and I couldn't feel the connection between Camden and Oaklyn beyond the physical. I felt nothing....no emotions, no angst, the steam overpowering the story. It was just sex, dirty and filthy. Typically, that wouldn't be an issue. But I needed more of a plot with the steam, something beyond just the basic best friend's brother/virgin heroine tropes, and there needed to be some depth to the characters, both of which were lacking here.

Camden was so adamant about not catching feelings and not falling in love so his quick reversal and change of heart seemed highly unlikely. The emotional component of the connection between Camden and Oaklyn got lost in a never ending carousel of sex, often repetitive and almost instructional at times. I wasn't looking for a sex manual. I just wanted my heart to feel everything they experienced. And the focus of the final scene and the act it suggested was deeply disappointing especially as a way to wrap up the series. Perhaps a better fit for this book would be a reader who is looking for straight up erotica and doesn't mind a simpler, weaker plot and no depth to the characters. Even though this story didn't work for me the way I had expected, the author writes steamy scenes expertly.

This was my first time listening to a full fledged audiobook and dare I will be listening to more of these.

I had my mind blown away would be an understatement. I'm pretty sure Ramona Master and Walker Williams had something to do with that. Marni Mann is still a new-to-me author. This is the concluding book of The Dalton Series which features Oaklyn and Camden.

Oaklyn is Camden's twin sister's off limits bestie. But they make a pact which includes Camden teaching her sex related stuff which also includes taking her virginity. Ms Mann writes fast-burn with emotional slow-burn. Tropes wise this book has bestfriend's brother, forbidden and secret relationship.

Now to gush about the audiobook, this is probably as far as I'll get to listening to a man talk dirty scenario happening to me. Cries in single.

Warnings:
Don't play the audiobook w/o headphones and absolutely do not play this in public because you'll have your friends asking you the reason why your face is red.

I haven't read the 2nd, 3rd, 4th book but if any of them is as good as this one then it's definitely worth giving it a try.

Thanks to netgalley and dreamhouse for providing me with this opportunity.

The Bachelor by Marni Mann
FIVE STARS!

I adore Marni Mann! She really has a way with the words.

When they were young Camden told his twin sister that her BFF was hot and he wanted to date her. Hannah was NOT having it and made him swear he would never go after her best friend. Now all these years later Oaklyn has a proposition for Camden and he might not be able to keep that promise to his sister.

Oaklyn and Camden are PERFECT and I loved how they grew for each other. This one is STEAMY with lessons and dirty talking and OMG just add it to your TBR list right now.

The Bachelor is the 5th and final installment in the Dalton Family Series by Marni Mann. It follows Camden falling for his twin sister’s best friend, Oaklynn.

This was my first introduction to Marni Mann’s books and I was hooked right off the bat! Camden is a gruff, grumpy lawyer. Oaklynn is a ray of sunshine embodied. I loved their playful dynamic.

Oaklynn finds herself still a virgin and presents Camden with a proposition - that he take her virginity if she’s still a virgin after one year. Camden hastily agrees and finds himself tangled up in his feelings for Oaklynn.

I received an ARC of the audiobook for this novel and I absolutely loved the chemistry between the two narrators. Sometimes I find spicy audiobooks hard to get through if the narrators aren’t right. I devoured this book in less than a day. Thank you to Marni Mann and the publishers for this ARC.

I think this was my least favorite in the series. The best friend's brother/virgin trope isn't my favorite to begin with and then to top it all off it felt way too insta love for this confirmed bachelor to want to get married after just a few sexual encounters/lessons/"dates". Super steamy for sure but the story just wasn't there for me. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review!

Quick Summary: A hot and bothered, forbidden romance

My Review: The Bachelor by Marni Mann was quite something. It was insanely charged. Explosive, really. In fact, it was a super scorcher, as far as love stories go. The fireworks between the two leads were off the charts.

About the Book: Camden and Oakland have known each other for years. They have always been aware of each other. They have always been attracted to each other. Unfortunately, they have never been at liberty to pursue one another. There was an unspoken understanding that prevented twin and BFF from going there. What will happen when the sizzle between the two burns bright enough to ignite a flame?

About the Dilemma: After two decades plus of holding on to her V-card, Oakland elects to proposition Camden. She wants him to have her firsts. Although Cam is game, he has some stipulations he needs Oakland to adhere to before the games can begin. What will happen when they throw caution to the wind and just go for it?

My Final Say: This book gets a "this is for grown folks" rating. It's fire! Mature readers are sure to need an extinguisher while reading this story. The author did not play in this romance.

Marni Mann💼

Review🥰

You guys!!!! This is one of the hottest books I’ve ever read. I am pretty sure I blushed throughout the entire book. This is part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone. This is a classic; let’s keep this only physical, with no emotions involved. Basically, the FMC has been in love with her best friend's twin brother forever. Things start off with an agreement for him to "teach" her how to do things in the bedroom. As you can guess, things change rapidly. The chemistry was electric, and the relationship was intense! The MMC gives off grumpy, I'm a player vibes. The FMC is a sweet little angel. I nearly fainted from the multiple steamy scenes in this. Cough, cough, at the restaurant, on the couch, in the alley. If you are into alpha males who fall for sweet girls, this is for you!

I this 5th book on the Dalton Family, we have Camden, Hannah’s twin, who is the biggest playboy ever. He is known for being great in the bedroom but never taking the same girl home twice. Oaklyn, who happens to be Hannah’s best friend, has had the biggest crush on Camden since they were young and she has not found anyone who she thinks is worth it so far. One night, she propositions him that if she doesn’t lose her virginity in a year that she wants him to teach her. Camden knowing that she is fragile and hoping that she will see that he is not good for her insists that they have 4 lessons that do not involve sleeping together. Will she be able to resist his charm?

I have loved all of the Dalton family books but I think this one was my favorite!! The chemistry between Camden and Oaklyn comes off the page and the spicy scenes are insane. You can tell that there is a lot of pent up emotion between the two of them form over the years especially when Hannah has made Camden promise that he won’t sleep with her best friend. Camden was honest from the get go about how he is with relationships and I like how the lessons showed him that his feelings for Oaklyn were different than they were for any other girl he has been with. I loved the narration and the different side few of hooked from Mr. Hookup!

3.5⭐️
This was headed to be my favorite Dalton Family book but then out of nowhere they did a 180 and were ready to marry!? I would have loved a more gradual love and commitment, not saying I love you and moving in together in less than 5 dates.
I really enjoyed the MMC though, he’s sexy and kind, and I’m a sucker for the best friend’s sibling trope, and I liked how things were resolved because they are all grown adults that can just talk, so if things would have progressed in a more natural pace I would have LOVED this one.
