This is another good book from Leslie North. The two main characters are Soraya and Amir. Soraya is a college student. Amir is a Sheikh and runs an oil company with his brother. They have known each other all their lives. Soraya’s brother is Amir’s best friend. Amir tries to get Soraya to date him. She doesn’t understand why he keeps asking until he kisses her. Then she can’t stop thinking about him she finally says yes to dating him.

In the second book of the Botros Brothers series, Sheikh Amir Botros finds himself falling for Soraya, his best friend Malik's sister, whom he's known his whole life. Despite Amir's notorious playboy reputation, he's recently begun seeing Soraya differently, wanting her to reciprocate his feelings. However, Soraya, trying to be independent by working and studying, is wary of his intentions given past childhood pranks. She's exhausted from her endeavors and, while she once had feelings for Amir during her teens, she's irritated by his uninvited and frequent appearances. Amir's attempts to woo her, including surprise outings, further alienate her. Close friends recognize Amir's sincerity, but unless he truly listens to Soraya's desires and needs, their relationship is doomed. A significant event at Tariq and Sara’s wedding strains their budding relationship even further. While this story revolves around Amir and Soraya, readers also get glimpses into Tariq and Sara's continued narrative, adding a familial touch.

Book two of a series, and book 1 definitely needs to be read prior to reading this one. Didn't read book 1 first, and can definitely say that I was missing some core information.
Good, quick read. Book is about Amir and Soraya, but you get to continue learning about Tariq and Sara. There were some moments where I felt that too much detail was given about Tariq and Sara when they are not the main focus of the book. All in all, it was fun.

This book was very short and involves two couples. You have to have read the previous book as this does not work very well as a standalone. Lots of crossover to another couple from the previous book. It was very short and a nice quick read.

Thanks to NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Relay Publishing for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is part of a series, but reads well as a stand alone. The guys seem really obtuse. I enjoyed reading about the different foods. Seems to be alot about Sara. 3 stars

I wish I read the first book bc then it would have made more sense. I wish the author focused on Soraya and Tariq more because it felt like his brothers were main characters instead of sideline characters. The steam was perfect and I will definetly read part 3 in the series.

This is the second book of this series. Amir is finally admitting his feelings for the secret someone, from the first book, to Sara. Sara is more than happy to see Amir struggle with getting the woman he loves to pay him attention. Will Amir be able to figure out what he needs to do to win her over or will he fail and sulk the rest of his days?

This book tells the story of Amir and Soraya. Soraya is the sister of Amir's friend Malik and he has developed feelings for her and is determined to make her his, but she isn't going to fall for him so easily. She knows him as the playboy and won't let him break her heart.

Book 2 in this series was meant to focus on Amir and Soraya, but we get to see how Tariq and Sara's wedding planning goes which came across as an extension of their story from Book 1. Having the focus on Tariq and Sara was a distraction from the main couple in this book.

I can't wait to read book 3

Quick Summary: A two-in-one romance

My Review: The Sheikh's Defiant Girlfriend by Leslie North was a multi-character romance-fest. It is book two in the Botros Brothers series.

About the Romance: When Sheikh Amir Botros confesses that he has taken notice of his best friend's sister, Soraya doesn't know what's hit her. Long ago when she had felt an attraction to Amir, he acted immature and treated her ridiculously. Now that she has set a sure course for her life, he wants to act on his own attraction toward her. Should she have nothing to do with him, or should she put them both out of their misery and give him a chance?

About the Book: This was an interesting installment. While the book was meant to feature Amir and Soraya, it actually came across, in part, as an extension of book one, which featured Tariq and Sara. I was surprised by how much attention was given to the couple. The story did present a few notable moments between Amir and Soraya, however, it all appeared that the relationship stayed at the budding stage level. With that said, the blurb on book three alluded to a potential threat to Amir's relationship with Soraya. If that is the case, then perhaps more can be ascertained about the romance between Amir and his lady love.

About the Family: The Botros brothers appear close to each other. They seem private and especially guarded with others, even amongst the extended family. The dynamic introduced between Sara and each brother was a good play. I love the grandmother of the Botros men. The verdict is still out on their mother. Yay for Sara's mom speaking up on behalf of her daughter!

My Final Say: This romance gets a steady ready, neat sweet rating. I would definitely keep reading about the Botros'.

It really took me a while to get in to this book, i just couldn't get myself to enjoy the characters, it was a very quick plot for me and I kind of feel like the beginning was very drawn out and the last 1/4 of the book felt a little rushed.

Overall good writing, easy to read. I would read more from this author again i just don't think these characters were for me.

Whoever the writer is, she spends no effort on world building, characterisation or plots. The people may be of Middle Eastern origins but they almost all sound and behave like Americans. There are minimal references to what living in a Middle Eastern culture is really like. The minimal references seem to be shoehorned in without any attempt to contextualise them.

In a short book like this, it’s not a good idea to have so many characters. Hard to remember who was whom.

Sorry but I didn’t enjoy this at all. If you want a Sheikh romance , there are other, better authors out there.

This is the first book of the saga that I'm reading, but I didn't feel as if I was missing any important information. I liked this drama-free story; it was entertaining without it being over the top.

I'm a bit torn about how many stars to give this story. There are two stories that overlap, and I enjoyed one thoroughly, but I had issues with the other. I've chosen to give this book 4 stars based on the strength of the part that I enjoyed.

You really NEED to read book 1 before you read this book. Part of this story revolves around Tariq and Sara getting married. That story happens to involve a lot of scenes of the couple, Amir and Soraya, who inhabit the other half of the story but those scenes are clearly a continuation of book 1. Seeing Tariq so loving and Warm with Sara was wonderful. Sara getting to have a wedding that she loved was fun. Sara's friendship with Amir was so much fun. Setting up for the next story in the series made sense. I really enjoyed all of these scenes in the book.

Sadly, the portion of the story about Amir and Soraya was not as enjoyable. First, Amir registers as a stalker at points in the story. The author tried to make it seem like he was just incompetent at actually dating but it crossed the line to creepy at times. Second, Soraya played games with Amir. She told him to leave her alone but then didn't follow through with cutting him off when he refused to back off. So that made her kind of a tease. Also, she wouldn't tell him what he was doing wrong beyond showing up at random times. What she wanted was simple, but she wanted him to figure it out on his own. Blah. Third, and this is an issue I have with the series in general, is the idea that the Botros family is traditional. So, Tariq getting a woman pregnant outside wedlock counts as traditional? Or Amir being a womanizer who appears in the tabloids is traditional? It felt like the author wanted to write a series about a traditional family but needed to have romance tropes firmly embedded. It just doesn't work. Finally, Amir is friends with Malik, Soraya's brother, so why not do the traditional things and talk to him about dating Soraya? Oh yeah, because Malik might be mad. Um, but going behind his back is going to be better? Normally, this would be a point of tension in the trope of "I'm dating your younger sister" but this just fell flat. When Malik finds out it was just meh. Just a curious question about the timing of Amir falling for Soraya...Amir was acting funny in book one. For example, he had to run out of the corporate offices to do something and Sara found it very funny. I had thought that Amir's love story would overlap with Tariq and Sara's at that point but no! Amir's love story with Soraya picks up after Sara has her baby and is planning her wedding to Tariq. There is a brief mention that Amir has been showing up for a while everywhere Soraya is hanging out but that's about it. Unfortunately, I love Amir but hate his love story.

I am interested to see what happens next so I will definitely read more from this author in the future.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I love the story of Amir and Soraya's happiness. The fact that the couple from book one continues in this book is really a bonus for us.
Amir is set on winning over Soraya without telling her how he feels. It would have been so much quicker and smoother if he had just done that as soon as he realized his feelings. Then again we wouldn't have much of a book if that had happened. I really enjoyed reading this book and can't wait for the next book in this series.

I feel this book was the 1.5 of the previous and not number 2 in the series its more to do with the wedding and previous couple than the new.

There was not a lot emotion or romance between the new couple which i found disappointing maybe there will be another book with more of their story but then if that will be in book 3 then i feel the new couple will get lost again.

Will I read the next maybe, as i do not like to start things and not finish. Will i enjoy it I’m not sure.

Thanks to Netgalley for this ARC for a honest review.
