I always love B. A. Paris' books! This one did not disappoint! I always try to figure out all the twists and turns and this one kept me interested and hooked in til the end!

A BIG thank you to B.A. Paris & St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read this.
Per usual - I saw B. A. Paris' name and said "YES PLEASE". No need for reading the summary when you see her name.
I felt this had a different vibe then her other stories. It read like a cozy little novel featuring just a few people from a quaint town... but with a bunch of death. I think because I was just along enjoying the story I missed the very obvious twist. So reading the big twist was like a big glass shattering DUH. Nothing better than being stumped in a thriller.
Can't wait to recommend this one to my friends and family!

I was pleasantly surprised by the ending of this one and I have to admit I didn't see it coming. B.A. Paris had a way of keeping me wanting to turn the pages and wanting to know what was going to happen next. This story follows 3 main couples and at first it took me a minute to figure out who was who but once I read on in the book, I got them straight.
When we first meet Iris and Gabriel, he is taking a leave of absence from medical practice because of having found a young high school student at his last living minutes and not being able to help him. Gabriel's father passed away earlier in the year and then his beloved dog ended up passing away as well. His colleagues thought it would be wise for him to take some time to get himself back together before he returned to work. Iris and Gabriel have some good friends that live in London and they have always told them that they are always welcome at their house. Laure and Pierre were on their honeymoon the same time that Iris and Gabrielle were and they all hit it off and have been friends ever since. When Laure shows up at Iris and Gabriel's house unannounced, they have no choice but to let her stay. Laure said that she and Pierre were not on good terms with each other and that Laure left in hopes that it would bring Pierre to his senses. The other main couple that is in the book is Hugh and Esme. They have just recently moved to the village where Iris and Gabriel live. With Hugh and Esme comes a gardener that has a jaded past as well.
When Laure doesn't hear from Pierre, Gabriel tries to call him as well. If Laure and Pierre don't end up talking, they can't try to work out their problems. Laure's side of the story is that Pierre has found out that he has a daughter that he found out about, not from a recent afair, but long ago, Laure tells Pierre that he needs to decide what he is going to do and let her know. When Pierre finally tells Laure that he is ready to meet her, Laure takes the trip to London and when she gets there, he doesn't show up. Laure takes that as he is not choosing her and she heads straight back to Iris and Gabriel's house. Now the weeks turn into months and Laure starts to overstay her welcome.
I don't want to give away too much of this story because I want you to get caught up in this story like I did. Lots of drama and I bet you won't see the ending coming as I did not either. There are lots of twists and turns that will have you questioning things during the book. I didn't want to put this one down until I found out all of what had gone on and got all the answers. I really enjoyed the suspense of this book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book and all opinions are my own. Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an advanced copy of this book. Such a good read and I think I am going to have to go back and read B.A. Paris's other books.

This domestic thriller begins when Laure moves in with her best friends, Gabriel and Iris. Laure tells them that she had a huge fight with her husband, Pierre, and that he is keeping a secret from her. When Laure’s visit seems to have no end in sight, and no one can reach Pierre, Gabriel and Iris begin investigating things themselves.
I am a huge fan of BA Paris and will read anything she writes! While this wasn’t my favorite of hers, it was very enjoyable. Thanks so much to NetGalley and publisher for the ARC!

Got an advanced copy of this, releasing in Feb 2024 I think. I’ve loved all but one of her books and this one started out a bit confusing with so many characters introduced at once. It wasn’t until further into the book that the characters were developed enough to keep track. Story was interesting but slow paced at times. At about 80% through the book I was thinking it’s 3 stars, then the last 15 min or so of the book was almost a book in itself. It blew my mind. So it redeemed my rating a bit but the ending probably could have been expanded on and made more of the story rather than the epilogue. It seemed rushed to wrap it all up. Crazy ending though. Thats all I’ll say. Overall a very good read.

Wow this was such a twisty, turny, mystery that leaves you guessing until the last chapter and boy does it deliver. When Iris and Gabriel come back early from holiday, they encounter a guest their best friend Laure who has just left her husband Pierre in Paris and decided to come stay while they work it out. She left in such a hurry that she is wearing iris’s clothes, was staying in their bed and making herself at home. During this turmoil Iris befriends the new couple in the neighborhood pregnant Esme and Hugh who bring with them a gardener who is a family friend and a bit of trouble himself. Everything turns into a mass of secrets and lies that you just don’t see this ending coming. B.A. Paris is a really great writer and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and I just love when the book keeps me guessing and makes me gasp at the end.
Thanks to St. Martins Press and Netgalley for the complimentary copy of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

This was a good, solid domestic thriller! It wasn’t my favorite by the author but I still enjoyed it. I thought the pacing was a little bit off? I am not sure why and can’t put my finger on it but once I got to around 30-40% it really picked up.
I thought the ending was magnificently done and I was shocked. The twist really got me.

I have read a few of B.A. Paris' books and they were all overall pretty enjoyable. This one, however, was not. I found it very boring and the ending was far-fetched and did not make sense with the storyline.

REALLY good read. B.A. Paris has a way to make you feel the stress of things going on in the storyline. This book had me stressing out. The ending really had the feel that all your questions were answered.

Have you ever had that one guest, who overstays their welcome? The one who thinks they have the freedom to cook your food, wear your clothes & makeup, sleep on your bed (that you share with your husband), and give you unsolicited advice, about your work and family? Talk about not having boundaries! There are 3 different couples that the story revolve around on and I have to admit, I was slightly dizzy from all the characters and their dialogues to the point that I became bewildered at following where they were going to go with what they were saying. Nevertheless, I realized that it was B. A. Paris’s unique way of having the story unfold all together at the end. Although the end felt rushed and summarized, I was not expecting it at all! B. A. Paris kept me guessing for sure! Despite it, I felt like the reveal at the end had to happen and it tied the entire story nicely. Definitely recommend going into this book blindly though!

It took me awhile to get into this book but once I did, I was hooked! In true BA Paris fashion, she kept me reading!

Wow!! BA Paris never disappoints! This was a great book, fast paced, lots going on...but wait until you get to the epilogue!!! that's where your mind gets really blown. BEST ending!
Thanks NetGalley, BA Paris, and St Martin's Press for this ARC! I truly enjoyed it

What Did I Just Read?
OK! This book was Terrific and gave me all the feels!
I could not turn the pages fast enough! This storyline delivered and is unforgettable!
If you like a good book with twists and turns, lies and secrets this book is for you!
You know a book has you hooked when you are thinking about it when your not reading it and can’t get back to reading it quick enough! Well, this is that book!
B. A. Paris delivers an edge of your seat book that will stay with you long after you finish reading it.
No spoilers with my review! This is a must read!
Well done B. A. Paris!

This book was highly disappointing. Slow burn with zero satisfaction - I was ready to give this 2 stars until that insane Epilogue that was the biggest cheap shot I have read in a long time. Twist for the sake of having a twist and I’m not impressed. I’ve enjoyed Paris’ books but this really left a sour taste in my mouth.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I am a huge fan of B.A. Paris! I was super excited for the opportunity to read her new book via NetGalley and
the new book didn't disappoint. The Guest is about Iris and Gabriel a married couple who have recently been having marital challenges after Gabriel witnesses the death of one of his former athletes. Gabriel heard Charlies final words and was with him as he passed and the impact of the death and his final words has caused him major stress. Gabriel has been on leave from his job. Iris and Gabriel attempt a holiday and when they get home find that the wife of their dear couple friends Pierre and Laure has moved into the home. Laure has left Pierre and is distraught over the finding of a new love child. Add the new neighbors Esme and Hugh and their friend Joseph and the twists and turns keep going through the whole book as the lives weave and intertwine in ways you don't see coming.

B. A. Paris has done it again! Known for twists and turns and things you don’t see coming, The Guest is all that and more.
After returning from a getaway, Iris and Gabriel return home to find Laure has been living at their house - she has suddenly left her husband with no place to go. But Laure is quickly overstaying her welcome and needs to get in touch with her ex… except no one can reach him…

I just love BA Paris! One of my top recommendations is Behind Closed Doors. I gravitate towards her books. Thanks so much for the arc of The Guest.
Iris & Gabriel come home from vacation to find their best friend Laure in their house. She’s just discovered her husband, Pierre, cheated and fathered a child. She’s distraught. Unfortunately Gabriel had recently been the witness to a local young boy falling to his death. He’s carrying around so much grief as it is. The addition of Laure & Pierre’s marriage really adds stress to him.
Iris makes friends with a local couple Esme & Hugh. They provide a lot of distraction during this awkward time.
If I didn’t know BA Paris I would have no clue to be skeptical of everyone involved in this story. I tried to be one step ahead and guess what was coming and who was involved. She got me again. I didn’t see any of it coming nor could I figure it out. I couldn’t put this down as I had to keep watching everything unfold. I had to know! Another fun thriller!

This book had a really slow start but once it got going the twists kept coming. Another awesome book by one of my favorite authors!

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's for the opportunity to read and review an advanced copy of this book.
This one really missed the mark for me. Highly unlikeable characters with almost no plot for more than half the book, it was more a character study. Dare I say it was almost boring. The story/mystery is wrapped up entirely in the epilogue, which was disappointing given there were no clues or even red herrings along the way. Not your usual B.A. Paris, I'm sorry to say. She's an author I usually enjoy very much but I can't recommend this one.

Uggh, just utterly ridiculous. The repetitive death theme , the constant whining, the allusion of stability where there is absolutely none. I hated all these characters!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.
