It was an okay read. Since this is a domestic thriller, I expected so much suspense, thrill, and twists to take place but none of them were enough. I felt like there could have been more suspense, more twists and turns. It’s just that the story felt so straightforward, which left me feeling unsatisfied. None of the characters were interesting. I did not care for them except for Gabriel, for his grief and loss. The chapters were short which is good and interesting enough to keep me turning the pages. The pace at which the story went was good, which is not slow. So, it keeps the story engaging.
As for the story as a whole, it was lacking so much. It just didn’t blow me or surprise me in any way which I am kinda sad about. And finally, the epilogue was big which I hated. I felt some suspense or cliffhanger could have been done in that chapter instead of explaining who did what and what happened.
This book wasn’t for me and that’s okay. But it is a great book for beginners who want to dive into the thriller genre.
A huge thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for providing me with an early copy to read and review.
I’ve enjoyed Paris’ books in the past so I was very much looking forward to this read. While my curiosity was piqued, the slow pace and getting annoyed with the characters, I didn’t allow myself to get fully immersed. I definitely wanted to keep reading though.
Spoilers Ahead…….

If it wasn’t for the last chapter/epilogue, this book would have been 3 stars for me. But because my mind was so fully blown as I was not expecting that conclusion, I bumped it up to 4 stars.

I wanted to connect well with at least one character, but they all seemed flat. That said, the plot kept me hooked and the ending was a jolt!
I received a free copy of The Guest from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have never read a B.A. Paris book I haven't thoroughly enjoyed. That being said, I was really excited to get my hands on a copy of The Guest. Iris and Gabriel come home from a trip to find their friend Laure in their home. This is not odd since the couple also have the key to Laure and her husband Pierre's home. Laure explains that she and Pierre are having a rough time because Pierre just admitted that he has a daughter that he just found out about. Laure stays with the couple but it ends up being a bit too much especially when Iris finds out that she is seeing a man who lives with a couple living down the street.
I always find it interesting how Paris is able to weave the story and her characters together so intimately and then blow it all apart like a whistling firecracker. This story will have readers wanting to know how every little piece of information revealed is connected to one another and in the end, well, of course, there is that oh-so-satisfying twist that will have readers exclaiming, "No! What? How? Oh....that makes perfect sense and why didn't I think of that." Another winning novel from B.A. Paris that will have readers applauding.
Thank you to B.A. Paris and Netgalley for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

First as always, I want to thank the publisher, the author, and NetGalley for allowing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
2.5 stars.
Deeply disappointed. And I love B.A. Paris. I hate leaving negative reviews because I know I could never write a novel and it seems unfair to criticize. But the story was weak in my opinion. The huge initial conflict about Charlie was. sorry to say, boring. The only thing that saved this story was the epilogue. And to me, it wasn't enough.

I struggled getting into this book it was slow read for me and couldn’t really relate to the characters. Which is sad as I do enjoy this author! I would give this a solid 3/5 I appreciate Net galley and the publisher providing me a copy of this to read.

Although this was a good read overall, I did have trouble getting in to it at first. There are multiple story lines and characters and it was a bit confusing in the beginning. It is a good story though if you stick with it through the first bit.

I enjoy BA Paris’ works… this one though. Let’s just say it may have been the longest Paris read for me. I had a hard time staying committed to finishing this one. Just lack luster but I did enjoy the twist at the end. I’d say maybe skip this one if your TbR is already backed up or choose a different BA Paris novel. They can’t all be 5 star reads.

I had a hard time getting into the mystery of this story and the characters. Some parts seem to drag on and I was reading to just read. I’ve liked B.A Paris’ other books but this wasn’t on the top of my favs from her unfortunately.

I enjoyed this book. It was a slow burn but it kept me interested throughout and I looked forward to reading it. BA Paris' books are always easy, enjoyable reads

A great read! However I usually like a little faster paced thriller. Lots of twists and Erie vibes in this one! Still would recommend to any thriller fans!

Extremely slow burn domestic drama with the only real twists coming in the epilogue. I enjoyed the setting and the overall plot was good but I wanted a faster pace and more thriller twists throughout to keep me hooked.

This was an enjoyable read except for the ending which was a little disappointing. Gabriel and Iris return from holiday to find their French friend Laure staying in their house. Laure is distraught because her husband Pierre has just admitted that he fathered a child with another woman. Gabriel meanwhile is struggling with his own demons after finding a friend's son in the quarry near his house close to death. Despite being a doctor he was unable to save him. The reader finds out that all these events are, of course, linked. A few twists and the book definitely keeps you hooked.
Many thanks to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and the author for an ARC of this book, which I had the pleasure of reading. All opinions are my own.

2.5 stars, rounded up
I wanted to love this one, I really did. It was extremely slow to start. The characters were not likeable. The way the writing released one of the characters secrets just seem very juvenile. There was not much of a lead up to the "twist" which was also very predictable. This was my first by this popular author and Ill give the author another chance but this one just was not for me.

This author is hit or miss for me but this one was a slow burn . It was ok but I felt it could have been a little more fast paced as it didn’t always hold my interest but overall it was a good read
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me review book

Great ending but it took a bit to get there.
The sorry followings Iris and Gabriel as they welcome an old friend Laure to stay with them while she works out some martial transgressions. Gabriel has just experienced a tragedy and is holding on to information he’s not sure what he’s suppose to do with.
Laure is residing with them to escape her husband Pierre as she has found out he cheated and there is like a child involved.
Esma and Hugh come in to add a bit more drama with their gardener.
Although a very slow burn with some scene jumping that I found hard to following - the ending was perfect! Really enjoyed how everything really came together with a twist I didn’t see coming!

Thank you so much for choosing me!!
This was a great book!!! It definitely started a little slow at first and was hard to get into, but I stuck with it and I’m so glad I did!!! It was a great book by a great author!! I definitely didn’t see the twist coming!! 🤯

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of The Guest E-ARC in exchange for an unbiased review. I had high hopes for this, given I've enjoyed B.A. Paris' other novels but this one fell flat for me. 100 pages in and I felt the story was moving nowhere. I had no desire to finish it.

I've read a lot of BA Paris' books and though they have been a bit hit or miss for me, this one was definitely more of the former. It was cleverly plotted and fast paced, just what I was looking for. Recommended!

I was looking forward to reading my third BA book. I had high expectations after reading Behind Closed Doors and the Therapist. This book felt short in overall pacing and keeping track of multiple characters. I always appreciate BA’s ability to throw in the twist. My expectations may have been overly high. Unfortunately, the storyline and the depiction of the unreliable characters left me wanting more.
