The One was a great read by Audrey J. Cole. Sloane has to forgive her husband's affair in order to save their marriage. She is shattered when she learns that Ethan slept with his partner at Seattle Homicide. She considers leaving him and Joing The One, a popular dating app. She went to college with the apps' billionaire founder, Brody Carr. Months later she bumps into Brody who recently returned to Seattle. Ethan starts to worry that Sloane is cheating on him. He finds out that Brody took her on a freediving excursion in the San Juan Islands. After that trip his famous wife dies in an accident. Ethan is the lead investigator to her death and doesnt believe its an accident. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.

Fun and thrilling and entertaining but ultimately still a tad disappointing. It's still an enjoyable read though!

First, big thank to you NetGalley and OrangeSky Audio for the ALC of this one!

I loved the way that this started out. With a woman who was wronged due to her husband's infedilty, but then it went downhill for me from there. I really wanted to root for her, but the "you did it so I can do it to" attitude just didn't sit right with me.

I also found none of the characters to be super likeable. And the end left me feeling confused almost. Like did she make the whole thing up or did it play out how she said it did? Without giving away spoilers, I just wanted more from this one!

The build up of suspense was enjoyable, but the execution left me feeling like I wanted more.

This one was a bit of a surprise. The main character was really interesting and the story had a few good twists. I did not enjoy the couple essentially playing games with other and cheating. Also parts of the story seemed a bit chaotic. I did like the narrator.

ER doctor, Sloane Marks has recently found out that her husband, Ethan, cheated on her with his homicide detective partner. She wants to leave him but she is in her 40's and needs to start a family soon, so she decides to stay. She tries forgiving him but she feels like the only way to make things work is to get even by cheating on Ethan. While she is thinking of signing up for the dating app, "The One" she runs into the owner, billionaire Brody Carr. The two went to college together and soon begin reconnecting. Eventually Brody and Sloane go on a lavish vacation to the San Juan islands where they go on a private deep sea diving excursion. Ethan is starting to suspect that his wife is cheating and then Brody's soon to be ex wife, suddenly dies in a diving accident under mysterious circumstances. Now Sloane must figure out what to do with her untrusting husband and Brody. Brody is very rich and powerful and will do what it takes to prove his innocence. Could Sloane be in danger? Or even possibly blamed for Brody's wife's death? She decides the only way to get things back on track is to take things into her own hands.
This started out a little slow and was long and drawn out. The middle does pick up and starts bringing on the suspense. I thought this sounded like an exciting read but it kind of turned into a story that has been done several times before, although this one did have a pretty decent approach but it was pretty easy to figure out where this was going, but it certainly had some twists that I didn't see coming.. It is hard to like any of the characters but I think that was the point. The epilogue was also a nice touch. All and all this was a pretty decent read but would have been better if not so long and drawn out in the beginning. 3.5 stars rounded up
*Thank you to NetGalley and Audrey J. Cole for allowing me to listen to an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This story centers around a female emergency physician who has an affair with an old acquaintance from college in order to get even with her cheating husband. From the start, this woman seems selfish and arrogant. She uses people for her own ambitions and doesn't care about consequences. While I did finish the book and the plot was rather interesting, I was not loving the characters and especially did not like how the book ended. Not sure I'd recommend it unless you're willing to overlook the female character's personality.

Thank you NetGalley and OrangeSky Audio for sending this audiobook for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

THIS book! I loved the characters. I loved their flaws. I loved their complications. I loved the ending. All of this book is what I love in a thriller. Multiple times throughout the story I thought to myself, I have no idea how they are going to get out of this. Bravo to this one!

Thank you to NetGalley for the advance reader audio copy of this book. This book centers around infidelity, both real and imagined. The murder mystery keeps the reader wanting to know what happens and how it all will end. Narrator was great and easy to understand. 4 stars.

This was just ok. It wasn't super special. I didn't really like the Narrator which made it less enjoyable.,

Wow, Sloane will literally do anything to keep her marriage together! This was a great story, I loved that every time you thought you had Sloane all figured out, another layer is added to her plan. Looking forward to reading "listening" to more of Audrey J. Cole's work in the future.

I loved the alternating POVs and having two narrators (Nancy Wu and Kyle Tait) made it very easy to identify which character's POV you were listening to.

This book was a good take on an overused “plot”. It kept my attention and had me second guessing what might happen. In the end it was pretty much exactly what I thought with no big shockers but it was still a worthwhile read.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an audiobook in exchange for a review.

It was not what I expected it to be about. The title “the one” is about a dating app in the book. And the first chapter also mentions it. So, it made me think it was gonna be about the dating app and how this woman navigates through her life and her marriage with the app in the play. But it was not about that but ok.

Secondly, the whole plot was mediocre. And the plot twist wasn’t great either. The ending felt rushed and not….fulfilling. The whole book was a bit hard to get through but the narrators did a great job which was honestly the only thing that kept me going.

I have mixed feelings with this one, mostly because of the content of the story. I’m not always a big fan of domestic suspense, especially when it involved infidelity, like this one. But I was quickly turned around when the plot twists started because the stakes are quickly raised, and Sloane must think things through quickly to save herself. I loved the adventure and the many deceptions. I listened to this as an audio and loved the two narrators for alternating POV.

A big thank you to NetGalley, OrangeSky Audio and Audrey J Cole for providing me with this gifted copy in exchange for my honest review.

This book was a ride and I enjoyed every second of it! I really enjoyed the dual perspective. I could see the twist coming, but I still loved it and thought it was executed well. I thought the narrators were great and they had voices that were easy to listen to. I binged this book in just a couple days, which is saying something for a mom of 4 during the summer.... Great book.

I love a good domestic thriller with lots of drama and this one was such a great ride.
Past-paced, twisty, suspenseful and so easy to read. I really enjoyed it.

This is another author that I think of their books as part of the popcorn thriller genre. Short, twisty and play out like a movie in your head. There is enough action and twists to keep you entertained and never wanting to put it down. I’m not married, so I am not sure how realistic this one is, but I can attest it was entertaining. A husband and wife playing a little cat and mouse game over who needs who more. There is a little cheating and a little lying and some secrets. What more can you want in a domestic thriller? Not everything is at it seems and as I read, I wasn’t sure what was true. I am not sure any of the three characters in this one could make a good decision to save their life, but that made it all the more fun.

This is a great summer, beach read. It’s fast paced and while you will see a little of it coming, most will come out of left field.

This was such a weird book. The couple had a weird dynamic and I didn't really jive with it. I'm surprising just confused by it

To be honest, I typically do not listen to audio books, but the excerpt of this one grabbed my attention. First of all, kudos to the narrators Nancy Wu and Kyle Tait as well as OrangeSky Audio. The storyline by Audrey J Cole coupled with the narration kept me engaged from the first page to the last page, so much so that I hated it to end. Audrey J Cole is a skilled storyteller, weaving twists, and turns throughout. The story of Sloane, her husband Ethan, and Brody will keep you on the edge of your seat, waiting to see what will happen next. I would definitely listen to this again! Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for allowing me to review this audio book.

I generally enjoyed this book. The storyline started off slow, but provided a lot of backstory that I appreciated later in the book. I did not feel the connection as strongly between the characters as I would have hoped. For me, the pace was a little slower than I'd like.

The main characters were intentionally unlikeable. <spoiler>However, overall I like how the book ended. As I suspected, this is not a feel good ending and not all the characters had to reconcile their wrongs. I knew there was ineviteably going to be a twist and there was. I didn't quite pinpoint the ending but I had a hunch during the last 25% of the book or so.</spoiler>
