The Strangers We Know by Pip Drysdale

Charlie is shocked when she sees a photo of her husband, Oliver, on a dating app. When she confronts him and he denies cheating, she sets up a fake profile for herself to try to catch him in the act. When it turns out Oliver was keeping more secrets than she'd thought and Charlie ends up being suspect in a criminal investigation, she must find out who she can trust before its too late.

This was an entertaining enough read. The plot was straightforward without any real surprises. The single 'twist' was predictable, and with a small cast of characters, it was easy to pick the culprit early on. Still, it was a quick easy read and I enjoyed it overall.

What would you do if you think you saw your husband on a dating app? Actually you’re pretty sure it was him because that’s the picture you took of him on your vacation. That’s the picture you posted on your instagram. That one swipe on her friend’s app is all it takes for Charlie to question everything about her marriage because clearly, Oliver has been keeping some secrets 😲.

Buckle up and get ready for a wild, twisty and adrenaline fuelled ride filled with so many lies, betrayals and murder🤯. I loved it ❤️. This was my second book by @ and I just get so absorbed in her stories and the characters. There’s never a dull moment and you’re on the edge of your seat the 👏🏻entire 👏🏻time 👏🏻.

Pip Drysdale's 'The Strangers We Know' came into my life at the perfect time, just when I needed a break from this sweltering summer! Huge thanks to Simon & Schuster for hooking me up with a review copy.

So, here's the deal—Charlie and Oliver had one of those fairy tale beginnings: love at first sight, whirlwind romance, and a happily ever after. But hold onto your hats, because things get wild when Charlie's hanging out with her single gal pals one night, innocently swiping through her bestie's Tinder matches, and guess who pops up? Yep, Oliver's profile.

From that moment, it's like a rollercoaster ride of DIY detective work, suspense, and more twists than a pretzel factory. What I found seriously cool about this book was how it nailed the whole modern online investigation thing that's become way too familiar in 21st-century relationships. It's like we're tracking criminals, but, you know, in the dating scene. So, if you're into thrillers but also secretly love rom-coms, this one's for you!

4/5 stars! I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn’t put this book down. It kept me guessing from the very beginning. This book is getting rereleased November 7, 2023. Thank you to Simon & Schuster Canada, PiP Drysdale and Netgalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book.

I wanted to love this but it didn't work for me. I loved her previous one , The Next Girl , this was very different and felt like a chore to read. I didn't like this one, the pace was slow and the storyline felt off. I wanted to love but didn't.

My second Drysdale book and the second book by her that wasn’t exactly what I thought based on the synopsis. This isn’t a bad thing.

Charlie thinks she saw her husband on a dating app. As her friend is swiping away, she’s sure she say her husband, she should know, she took the picture. Of course Oliver is going to deny it, but Charlie is sure of it and takes things into her own hands to find out the truth. And the truth is much more than she bargained for.

I enjoy the writing by Drysdale and very much so enjoyed the story telling here. Charlie is recanting the events to us in her own words, and talking to us like we are friends. It makes her instantly likeable. The pace is slow to start but it slowly begins to pick up speed and gets faster and faster as we make our way to the end. Definitely enjoyed it and can’t wait to read more by Drysdale.

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster Canada for my copy of The Strangers We Know.

This was everthing I expected and more from Pip Drysdale. The drama? Check. Exhilarating scenes? Check. Unexpected thriller MC? Check. Amazingness? Check! I totally enjoyed this. I love how the story unfolded especially with how Charlie's the perfect example of how someone getting cheated on suddenly becomes the world's greatest detective. Although there were parts I thought Charlie was stupid, I was still rooting for her. The way everything unfolded was just so unexpected, I was really pleased.

Definitely recommend anything Pip Drysdale has written or will write.

This was my first Pip Drysdale book and I love love love uncovering new to me authors that I have to read again!

This was a rollercoaster of a ride! Twists and turns I didn't see coming and a heroine I adored and could relate to!

What I loved was the pacing, the characters and the writing kept me turning pages deep into the night!

If you love a domestic thriller, this is for you!

I'm not usually a fan of the (quite frankly) dime a dozen domestic psychological thrillers, but this premise intrigued me, and the execution didn't disappoint. I read this in one sitting - it's gripping and fast-paced, and moves along efficiently. Lots of intrigue, suspense, and red herrings. The protagonist is easy to empathize with and invest in, and is far from perfect herself, often making rash, questionable decisions that are realistic.
