Get a Room was a delightful story. Even though I feel it was predictable from the beginning, it was a cute story. The timing seemed to be fast but I enjoyed the side characters and the chemistry between the main characters. I felt it was a believable scenario. I would enjoy reading others by Casey Dembowski.

This was so funny and cute!

We have a few fun tropes: best friend's brother, there was only one bed (played differently than usual), fake dating, slowish burn, and enemies (though I'd classify it more as dislike) to lovers.

Sarah and Brian's banter and chemistry are fantastic. I loved watching them slowly fall for each other.

Brian's sister/Sarah's best friend Jess though... not a fan. Her behavior is unsupportive, hypocritical, and more than a little childish. The characters are all in their late 20s and she's pulling high school levels of pettiness. Full star off for my intense dislike of her.

This book is an engaging and fun contemporary romance about enemies-to-lovers, a best friend’s brother love story! The two main characters Sarah and Brian, reach a crossroad in their lives when they end up fighting over a bedroom in her best friends and his sisters apartment. The story starts out as each others sworn nemesis but due to a ""fake" dating setup by his sister, Brian realizes he does have feelings for Sarah. One kiss turns them on their heads and their feelings are growing faster than they can comprehend. The two have amazing banter between them, not to mention the pranks to each other to get the spare bedroom. All of their romantic moments are so swoon-worthy and give off a heart-warming vibe with a few spicy moments mixed in. Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced copy to review.

Story: 4/5 ⭐
Spice: 2/5 🌶️

---

With both their lives in disarray, both Sarah and Brian find themselves fighting over Jess's spare room. Jess happens to be Sarah's best friend but also Brian's younger sister. Sarah and Brian have been at each other's hairs since Jess and Sarah became best friends. However, close proximity and a fake dating situation comes up that slowly changes their feelings towards each other and they eventually fall for the other.

This is the perfect Rom com to read after a heavy high fantasy book! It's a lighter read but you really fall into Sarah and Brian's relationship. Their chemistry is realistic and not too fast paced. It starts getting little emotional towards the last portion of the book but Casey Dembowski was able to make me cry (ok not a HUGE feat but still). You're able to see the flaws in each character, they're human after all. Casey does a good job of making her characters relatable and not overly annoying for the reader when they're in conflict. Definitely a good light hearted rom-com read!

Sarah Webb was thrown out of her boyfriend's apartment after she rejects his marriage proposal with a not yet answer. He flips his lid. Not even fully moved in she is forced back to the spare room of her best friend's apartment, but there's a problem.

Brian Hawkins is having a terrible bout of luck. He loses his girlfriend when she springs marriage on him (because she wants healthcare) and then has to watch her marry her best friend only 3 days later. He lost his job, and then, obviously, his apartment and had to spend the summer living with his parents. But now his sister's flat-mate has moved in with her boyfriend so he plans to take over her room. But there's a problem. She's back. She's single and she's his enemy. The brawl for the bedroom begins.

I liked Sarah and Brian. When I first 'saw' them together, throwing verbal punches like hissing cats before a battle, I thought there was no way the author could believable bring them together. But boy did she ever! Brian and Sarah actually go together really well, despite their differences. The nemesis to frenemy to friends to lovers plot arc was beautifully done. It's not often you find a romance novel that pulls that trope of so, apparently, effortlessly. Their lives and relationship perfectly on point. This book was a delight. The only thing that got me was Jess.

Jess the flat-mate/best friend and sister of Brian... Here is a woman who suggests Sarah and Brian fake date (therefore spend a lot of time together) then turns around and claims she felt as through she was being replaced when they actually become friends. She hammers on Sarah for breaking two of their friend rules, yet she broke them too. Too many times to count. She yells at Sarah and Brian for keeping their relationship a secret, yet she had a boyfriend for over 3 months without telling anyone! Sarah broke two rules, she dated Jess's brother and she didn't tell her who she was dating.

Jess lies that she isn't dating, and goes out countless times to meet this man without telling Sarah (basic dating safety one o' one). But for some reason, even though Jess knew they were in some sort of relationship she decides to lose her 'cool'. So, for me at least, that non-best friend behavior out of someone Sarah has known since forever is just...so unlikeable. Best friends should not be that toxic.

I also kind of wanted to shake Sarah for taking that kind of behavior from her bestie without fighting back. And for playing Jess's game and pretending everything was fine for DAYS. I was hoping Jess would have a change of heart after seeing how miserable Sarah was, but no such thing happened. It was Sarah who had to force the issue.

But other than that, I really liked this book. It was a solid, and believable enemies to lovers story.

Thankyou to NetGalley for allowing me an ARC in exchange for my honest review;

Brian & Sarah’s ‘Enemies to Lovers’ story was just a treat to read, their relationship developed throughout the book from enemies to roommates to friends to lovers and you could really feel everytime their dynamic changed (since it really is the little things that matter)

The surrounding characters were just hilarious, Brian’s sister Jess and co-workers added to the mostly hilarious circumstance they all found themselves in

Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a sweet rom-com with a dash of spice

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!! best friends brother i love you. it's a trope that i'm always finding myself loving for some reason. i think i always just love the secrecy aspects to it. but this book. oh this book. as i always say, it was beautiful. beautifully written and just beautiful all around. it was a nice feel good rom com and the type of book i needed right now.

you could see how much sarah cares about her profession, and i really enjoyed that aspect of this book. seeing her connect with tessa was just special and i loved everything about it. her job is perfect for her and the type of person she is. i also really loved brian's progression and watching him figure out what he wants to do with the rest of his life. heartbreak is never easy, wether it be you're the one saying no or vice versa.

i think something that frustrated me most while reading was jess' character. it was just hard to feel empathy with her i think. she is a grown ass woman making her best friend choose between her and her bother... oh that wasawful. that made me so mad regardless of them forgiving eachother. i'm extremely glad sarah told her off but i do not think she should have forgiven her as jess didn't prove herself worthy of it.

what i didn't know was that this is technically a series???? and the previous books are hannahwill/andicorey????? now i'm so curious in reading these because i really enjoyed casey's writing style.

thank you netgalley for providing me with this arc <33

This book was really fun! The characters were easy to like and empathize with, which really brought the story to life.

**SPOILER**
The only majors issues I had were with Jess’s attitude toward Brian and Sarah dating, and the third act breakup was frustrating. Of course it created more conflict which drove the story forward, but I really wish it hadn’t happened!

This year's rom com book to read! Brothers best friend- enemy to lover - forced proximity and brilliantly written side characters! I absolutely loved this book as it had me laughing, crying, getting mad at characters and of course a happily ever after involving cats.
Sarah turns down a proposal which led her to move back into her bestie, Jess's apartment. However, Brian (Jess's brother) has also moved in due to losing his job. They fight over who will get the only spare room. Cue some fake dating to make the ex jealous and watch the fireworks start to happen.
Best part of the book for me was the honest conversation that Sarah and Jess had. Can their friendship survive Sarah sneaking around with Brian and Jess forbidding Sarah from having a relationship with her brother?
Favourite quote " I choose me and that means I choose him".
Definitely read this if you want to escape the world for a few hours and to have a happy feeling when you've finished reading the book. Oh, it also has some spicy scenes which is a bonus!

I cannot handle how cute this book was.

I loved Sarah and Brian's banter, and I appreciated that the fake dating element was not overplayed and we got to see their dislike for each other grow into a sort of friendship and ultimately more.

We also got the opportunity to see Sarah and Jess' friendship mature without it overshadowing the rest of the book.

Overall, such a fun, cute, and heartwarming read - with a little spice for anyone who needs it. :)

Get a Room follows Brian and Sarah after their lives are upended — Brian loses his job and Sarah is kicked out by her boyfriend. These enemies most both live in the same apartment and figure out how to get along — or more.

The first chapter had me hooked from the beginning. I felt bad for Sarah, and it set her up to be a sympathetic character. I also loved how the first couple chapters set up two of my favorite tropes — enemies to lovers and forced proximity.

Sarah and Brian were great as protagonists and their banter was A+, and I enjoyed the ending.

A heartwarming, fun and fast paced rom-com.

Synopsis
When Sarah's relationship breaks down, she moves back in with her best friend, Jess. However her best friends brother, Brian, is also sharing the space.. and they've never really gotten along.

With her ex being a jerk and taking a new woman to a gala, Sarah ropes in Brian to pretend to be her 'fake boyfriend' for one night only. However the 'fake boyfriend' charade continues and feelings become real. The obstacle in their way though is Jess, who has always made them promise not to be together..

Thoughts
The banter between Sarah and Brian was great, and to see their relationship grow from 'frenemies' to lovers.
I did find the resolution/redemption for Jess really quick, in an instant she had changed her mind and was okay with Brian and Sarah after making her choose a day or so ago.

Overall it was a fun, light hearted read, one where you itched to see where Sarah and Brian's relationship would go.

Thank you to NetGalley and Publisher for this ARC, I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Can we start with the cover of the book?! It is so cute. This will definitely not be the last book I read by Casey. Although this book was a slow burn it was great. the main characters were amazing. I would definitely suggest reading this if you're into enemy to lovers trope.

This was a fun read! Definitely a slow burn that dragged a bit at times, but it had nice payoff and the FMC and MMC worked well together. It ran just a little long for my tastes but I think overall it was a good story. The tropes worked well together without being in your face about it.

This is the first book I've read from Casey Dembowski, but it won't be the last! "Get a Room" centers around Brian and Sarah, both of whom have hit a low point in their lives. Brian has lost his job and had to get out of his old hometown, and Sarah has just rejected a proposal and been subsequently dumped. They both decide to reach out to Jess for help (Jess is Sarah's best friend and Brian's sister). They show up at Jess' apartment to stay in her spare room, only to find that they obviously can't share it. This leads to a prank war, as they both want to sleep in the bed instead of on the living room couch. While they hate each other at first, that's simply to hide the chemistry that is sparking between them.

I really enjoyed this fun book and the sweet chemistry between Brian and Sarah! I wish the pranks had gone on a little longer, because I really liked that part. I was disappointed in Jess' reaction when she found out about the relationship and wish that had been handled better. However, I really enjoyed this book overall and will read more of Dembrowski's books! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Enjoyable read from the first page of this story. Liked it and their banter so much. Who doesn't love a enemies to lovers kind of story. Must read.

A fantastic cosy romantic comedy. I loved the characters and felt like they were good friends.
Brian has just lost his job and has to move back to Philadelphia to stay at his sister's apartment. Matters get worse when Sarah, their childhood friend and Brian's sister's best friend has to move in too. They cannot stand each other and Sarah has also just declined on a marriage proposal.
There's a lot going on for both of them.
Then Sarah needs a blind date for a gala event that she was supposed to attend with her ex-fiance. She has nobody else to ask only Brian. The boy now the man she can't stand who can't stand her either. You get the picture.
Only what happens when they are on the fake date??
This is a delightful story, a quick read and a small town romance vibe going on.
I love the author's style of writing, it is witty, fun, engaging and easy reading. You will be swept away in the love-hate relationship between Brian and Sarah. You'll also find Brian a bit of a book-boyfriend.
I also loved the cover hence the reason I selected this book in the first place. The cover drew me in and I instantly knew it would be a cosy, fun book with that hea feeling. It did not disappoint.
I'll be giving this a four star rating on Goodreads and Amazon.
First book by this author and excited to read some more of her work.

This book was swoony. Plus a slow burn. The plot was ok. Nothing like a good jealousy story. I would have wanted a little more of the best friend boyfriend.

Brian is Sarah’s best friends brother and they have been “mortal enemies” forever until a fake date has them realizing that perhaps hate and lust are easy to confuse.

I loved reading Sarah and Brian’s story. It had everything you need from a sweet and a steamy romance. Enemies to lovers, best friends brother, fake dating , he falls first. It’s a trope wonderland

The tension between them in the build up is great, the only thing I wish I knew was why they initially disliked each other as that’s never explained,

Overall this book is the perfect quick good mood read.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this arc.

Not quite an enemies to lovers, but more of a forbidden love story. The story of Sarah and Brian is a story of a girl falling in love with her best friends brother. I loved most of the characters in this book, except for the sister Jess. She was selfish and annoying- especially towards the end, overall, I loved the relationship arc between the two and enjoyed the read.
