This was such a fun read. I loved the enemies to lovers trope with the fake dating. I wish the ending included what happened to the sister.

Casey sure knows how to warm a reader up, the twists and turns along the way had we dying to figure out how the book ended. I love that it had some romance but I wouldn't in my opinion say it was spicy. Over all a very cute enemies to lovers book.

Get a Room by Casey Dembowski is a fun enemies to lovers/forced proximity/fake dating/forbidden romance story. Jess's brother Brian is having a rough go. His girlfriend dumped him, he lost his job, and he's currently living with his parents. In an attempt to start new, he convinces his sister to let him move in with her in a new city. Her best friend, Sarah, recently moved out to live with her boyfriend and Jess has an extra room. That is until Brian moves in and Sarah breaks up with her boyfriend. Now she wants her old room back. Brian and Sarah do not get along anyway and this just might push them over the edge.

This book is light-hearted and easy to read. The characters are well written and the premise is perfect. There was no shortage of "traditional" romance tropes and the tension between Sarah and Brian goes up a notch (or ten) when Brian agrees to fake date Sarah. The story gets the message across that the two probably always had some suppressed attraction to each other and the fake dating was a perfect time to let that out.

The spice on this book is very mild and would be perfect for readers who are just coming into romance and are looking for a happily ever after without a ton of drama or explicit language/scenarios. However, if a reader is familiar with and enjoys authors such as Katee Robert or JT Geissinger, this book might not scratch the itch they are looking for. I would consider this a wholesome romance and would recommend it to fans of Nora Roberts or Julia Quinn.

This is a lovely story with amazing characters. Sarah and Brian hate each other, or so they think, but when they become roommates, both crashing at Jess' place... but how do you manage falling in love with your best friend's brother?

Sarah was such a good character. I loved that she was a bit feisty and a bit wild instead of all the soft girls usually written about. Brian was also so cute and actually had a personality. Often in books you read about men whose whole personality is their hotness. Brian was not like that. The characters had depth.

I only think that Jess' reaction was a bit extreme, but on the other hand, not everyone is immediately extremely mature in such situations, I would probably also have reacted more extreme than necessary.

Thank you to netgalley and the author for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

'Get a Room' is a classic 'enemies to lovers' rom com. When we last saw Brian Hawkins in Casey Dembowski's delightful debut 'When We're Thirty', he'd been dumped by his girlfriend Hannah, so she could fulfil a marriage pact with her university best friend.

Set over a year later, Brian is forced to move to Philadelphia to live in his sister Jess's spare bedroom, working as a barista again after being made redundant from his New York tech job.

Fighting him for the room, is Jess's best friend Sarah Webb, whom he has an antagonistic relationship. Sarah is homeless after rejecting her live-in doctor boyfriend's premature proposal.

I loved seeing Brian's side of things regarding his relationship with Hannah. In contrast, he and Sarah were perfect for each other, bringing the best in each other, while giving each other space. It was also refreshing to see a character refreshing to return to their small hometown. Too often books value small town over the city and I find this frustrating.

This book is sweet, sexy and fun with an enmnity between the two characters that was entertaining instead of irritating that I find with an 'enemies' dynamic. As with 'When We're Thirty', the book's strengths is its strong female friendships and characters undergoing personal growth.

Thanks to Red Adept Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC.

Oooh this was an absolute delight!!

Sarah and Brian’s love story felt so real and genuine. I really felt like the author did such a good job showing the growth of their friendship and then eventual relationship. There were several scenes that had be blushing and swooning.

It was refreshing that Brian had a life outside of the romance - the side characters added to the story. It made it seem like they were real people and not just existing to fall in love.

I will definitely be recommending this book and checking out her other work!

Until I finished the book I knew that Brian was part of a previous book by the author. I'll be looking for it because I'm hooked and although I'll take it as a prequel, I would love to give Brian more background.
Things get very complicated when they stop being enemies to start being friends. You watch as if it were a movie and you know in advance that when the sister finds out the situation will become messy.
I really enjoyed their relationship and although many of his pop knowledge is justified by saying that he has a sister, I have never seen a brother pay so much for coffee, or watch movies like crossroads or a high school musical just to please his sister. Even so, that relationship is enjoyable.
I was very pleased with how the resolution was made and how, above all, there is a lot of maturity in their decisions. Both his and hers, each one giving what the others wanted for them. Brian, despite being the typical gamer boy, childish, immature, has very mature decisions in matters of love.
I really liked the little taste that they give us of the others Ethan, Tasha, Maggie, Jace., that make me want more of them.

the story of Brian and Sara who both need Jess's spare room. I liked how it was told from both points of view. A fun read.

This one put a twist on the rom com thing with most of the point of view being from the hero. When spend most of time seeing what's he's seeing and feeling. And its the hero who's world has exploded.

Thank you to Netgalley for an arc of this book in return for an honest review.
This was a fun and easy read and it was what it said on the packaging. It was a lighthearted romcom with some spice to keep it sexy and interesting. There was definitely some cute and swoonworthy moments that made me giddy.
I loved both main characters and the dynamic between them , they had a fun bantery relationship and their energy just bounced of one another. Individually as characters they both shined but when they were together they just seemed meant to be.
For the length of the book , at points the pacing felt of but not enough for me not to enjoy the book. I liked the actual story in itself and how they got together but Jess reacting in the way she did felt of balance from her character and from we knew about her, I understood her reasoning behind it but I wasn’t a big fan of how it unfolded.
Pushed from a 3.5 to a 4 because of the epilogue it was just too cute.

4.5 / 5 ⭐️ Review posted on Goodreads

Looooved this book! Had me giggling and kicking my feet, the tension was great, the characters were really fun and the side storylines not over the top or useless (except for the Ryder thing which I found a bit annoying). The only thing which made me give 4.5 and not 5 stars is that I wish there'd been more descriptions of Brian's physical appearance I guess? his height etc and also descriptions of the layout of the appartment.

🎺special mention for this hilarious description :

"his fingers passed over the subtle mountains of her breasts and lower through the soft terrain of her stomach until he reached her valley

3.5 stars.

"Get a Room" by Casey Dembowski is a cute and comforting enemies-to-lovers, best friend's brother, forced proximity, fake dating romance with tons of geeky references and an adorable star couple. I really enjoyed Sarah and Brian as main characters and loved watching their relationship progress as the book went on. He is a super sweet cinnamon roll, but she doesn't see it. She's loyal to a fault, and they can't stand each other. I'm not sure I ever fully bought them as 'mortal enemies,' but I sure liked reading about them getting together, even under fake pretenses. Brian and Sarah have some excellent banter with one another, but I wouldn't call the book uproariously hilarious on the whole. My chief complaint about this book is that many scenes and plot points seem to drag on and on and on with way too much detail, while some the most important scenes felt like they are done in a flash. This is especially true where the spicy scenes and the ending are concerned. Luckily, the book is fairly well-paced apart from this one issue once you actually get into reading it. Still, I wasn't ever itching to grab my Kindle to read this one because it's pretty predictable. I also really didn't like Jess (Brian's sister and Sarah's best friend) at all. What a selfish character! I would have liked a little more groveling and apologies from her. I'd still go ahead and recommend this book, though!

Thank you to NetGalley, Red Adept Publishing, LLC, and Casey Dembowski for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for my review.

Get A Room Casey Dembowski

Sarah has just turned down a proposal from her boyfriend and needs a place to crash when he throws her out. Brian lost his job after losing his girlfriend and is trying to get back on his feet. What they have in common is Jess, Sarah's best friend and Brian's sister. She has a spare bedroom and both our heroes show up at the same time to want the room. Brian and Sarah do not like each other at all. There is some pranking and then an agreement on who gets the room. Sarah needs help with making her ex jealous so Brian agrees to be her fake boyfriend. The more time they spend together, they more they grow closer.

This is a book for you if you enjoy forced proximity, enemies to lovers, fake dating, and dual POV. I love all of those so this book worked for me. Brian and Sarah are an interesting dynamic. It was nice to see them grow as people along as within their relationship. Jess, best friend and sister, was a character that added conflict and kind of annoyed me with her rules and stipulations. I guess there does need to be a wall at some point and she provided it.

The spice level in the book was decent. Not too many intimate scenes but definitely open door.

Thanks to NetGalley, Red Adept, and Casey Dembowski for the e-ARC. This review is my own opinion.

Best friends older brother but make him a nemesis and add in fake dating. Yes. Please. I found myself reading at 2am giggling at my kindle. The back and forth banter and the bets to see who got the bedroom is what a good romcom is made of. Both Brian and Sarah unintentionally lean on each other, their nemesis relationship leads to being friends and getting to know each other. It was a very light read the writing was smooth.

This is a cute and fun story with plenty of situation-appropriate angst in the latter part of the story. Now, don’t be confused, it is cute, but not in a cute and clean way. This book is very open door and has frequent strong harsh language. Both Sarah (break-up) and Brian (job loss) have had better days when the both move in to claim his sister/her best friend, Jess’s guest room. One guest room plus two guests that hate each other equals war. There are shenanigans, sparks, and sweetness. The bedroom war is a fun premise, but it actually only comprises a small part of the story. Despite their history as enemies, Brian and Sarah move to friends pretty easily and attraction pops up even before that. There is even some fake dating thrown in, which definitely moves things along. Most of the story is them figuring out what to do with that attraction, and building a friendship that deepens into love. They also face the tricky situation of Jess being adamantly opposed to them being romantically involved. And I mean adamantly. This is the source of the most angst in the story, and it’s their biggest obstacle, although there are some others. “‘…It’s your life. Sometimes that means making messy decisions.’” This story was a lot of fun and I enjoyed it. It’s got a great, sweet epilogue. Brian really is a sweet male main character. And I liked Sarah too. I always enjoy dual POV and I’m glad this book had that. This book connects to a previous book by the author, but reading it is not necessary. This is a great standalone read. As mentioned above, it is an open door story with frequent strong harsh language.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for a complimentary copy of the book. This review is written voluntarily and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc!

Love the trope of friends brother and forced proximity mixed with my all time fave fake dating so chefs kiss all around! The chemistry was fireeee and I adored them together. Jess was being completely unreasonable though and the worst friend and sister ever I literally would have never spoken to her again after what she said and did I still can't get over it and that's why I took a whole star off because it upset me so much! Horrible bff and sister aside read this book! The banger the chemistry and love was there and really enjoyed this book and honestly wish there was more of Sarah & Brian they were too cute and we didn't get enough of them together as always.

Spoilers ahead:
I loved that for once they didn't lie saying they didn't love them etc and while he sacrificing himself and their love it was for her to have her best friend and was selfless in his eyes anyways. Which that was the only annoying thing Brian did in the whole book for me lol while it was noble it was annoying and his damn sister didn't deserve them sacrificing eachother for her tantrum! I really hated how quickly they forgave her too wtf, I'm still salty after finishing book and I didn't even live it. I thought it was ironic that Brian thought eventually Sarah would resent him for losing her bff Jess when in reality it should have also happened the other way around, there's no way like Sarah says she would be able to forget the loss of Brian esp being around his family still so that piece didn't make sense and am surprised he never thought of it to be honest.

I loved this book SO MUCH!

Brian and Sarah are really perfect for each other, and their story is so heartwarming (and hot!). Jess, however, did get on my nerves, and I feel like she deserved a bit more of a hard time after everything.

This book is extremely well writen, no typos, really fluid and all the feelings shine through beautifully. I became a fan! Will certainly read more from this author.

Please read this - you absolutely won't regret it!

I willingly received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
