A simple and happy Murder Mystery

Nothing is much more simple and turn off your brain book. That doesn't mean it wasn’t enjoyable to read, with the slight bit of romance and interesting setting I still recommend this book to anyone who wants a simple kinda airplane read.

This is a great debut to a new cozy series! The theme is cute, and I loved following our protagonist Mallory as she worked to solve the mystery. The mystery kept me guessing until the end!

What a charming story intertwined with a mystery surrounding the life and times in a small town. Great characters that ooze charisma. Definitely worth taking a moment to enjoy this one

Unfortunately I didn't love this one. I'm not sure whether it was because of the audio, but i found it a bit slow at the start and I felt like there were so many characters to keep track of.

This audiobook is really fun to listen to and I couldn't stop listening to it till I was done. It has all the hallmarks of the classic 'cosy', it can get tedious to read, but is tremendously fun to listen.

How the Murder Crumbles was a modern, cozy mystery. Our protagonist, Mallory left a busy job in marketing to open a bakery in the adorable town of Wingate. She stumbles upon the body of a woman she had a very public disagreement with and then just has to investigate. How else would she clear clear name? I loved all the small town gossip and the narrator was excellent.

3 stars.

This was the lovely start to a new cosy murder mystery series. Think almost Richard Osman vibes but different. Felt it was almost a requirement to make cookies to accompany my listening experience. The audiobook was well read and enjoyable. While the story is well-paced, I think there might be too many characters to get to grips with.

If you like a cosy read, give this one a go!

Thank you to NG for the ARC and I wish the author the very best of luck.

I was excited to get this book as an ARC on Netgalley, it made me so incredibly happy, because I love these "cozy" mysteries. This was very much in line with the Murder She Baked, Aurora Teagarden mysteries that I simply LOVE watching, and reading.

Debra Sennefelder did not disappoint with this book at all! It was such an amazing read, and I am sooo thankful I was able to get access tot his book! It was fun, and had me hooked from the first chapter, which doesn't always happen with books such as these. Debra Sennefelder really made characters that were compelling, and complex, and made the story incredibly interesting.

It kept me guessing each moment, and I loved the way the story kept building up and up, and it was honestly really well done. I will be reading more of her books in the future that is a guarantee!

I have definitely entered my cozy mystery era.

Although I am terrible at guessing the culprit.

How the Murder Crumbles was a fun read. Set in a boutique cookie shop in small town Connecticut, Mallory finds local food blogger and busy body dead on her kitchen floor, flour outlining her body.

There was such a wonderful cast of characters in this book, and the audiobook was a delightful listen! This definitely had me daydreaming about almond meltway cookies and sugar cookies, while also trying to figure out the whodunnit along with Mallory.

At just over 8 hours for the audiobook, I never found this to drag - any lull in the action was short and used wisely for the character to recap what had been happening or talk through new ideas.

Now pardon me as I head off to bake some sugar cookies…

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the ALC for How the Murder Crumbles.

What a great start to a new cozy series. This is truly a cute book with an engaging mystery, lots of possible suspects, and great narration. It was lovely to meet Mallory and I look forward to the next installment.

This is a fun little cozy mystery. It's the first in the series and if you like cozy mysteries you'll find yourself following along with all the mayhem and humor as the story progresses. Oh, but you will be getting hungry the entire time since the main character owns a cookie bakery! Right after Mallory has an argument with a food blogger the food blogger winds up dead and Mallory is high up there on the suspect list.
This is a fun story that gives you a great cast of characters and is definitely a first book that promises a fun series to come.

A good start to a brand new cozy mystery series and the narration by Ellen Quay makes it all the more fun and enjoyable. I received both an e-ARC and ALC from the  publishers but I mainly listened to the audiobook. The book is well paced with a good plotline and nicely developed characters.

For some reason, while listening I kept hearing the female protagonist name as 'Marilyn Monroe' and it was mid-way until I checked the e-ARC and realised her name was Mallory Monroe 🙈😂. Just like Detective Colin Zabel kept popping up in my head whenever Detective Will Hannigan was described or made an appearance in the book 👀🤷‍♀️. I also learned that cookie bouquets are very much a thing (I want one) and the book ends with a few yummy cookie/biscuits recipes.

I enjoyed this one!

My thanks to NetGalley, the publishers Crooked Lane Books and Dreamscape Media and the author Debra Sennefelder for the ARC/ALC.

Mallory Monroe loves baking and decorating cookies that are like works of art. Her shop is in a town in Connecticut that is known for wonderful shops, but things are not as good as they should be. Her two employees are a disaster, and she has just broken up with her boyfriend. A local blogger, accuses her of stealing her cookie recipe, which Mallory vehemently denies. When said blogger, Beatrice, ends up dead while baking cookies, clobbered by a marble rolling pin, Mallory becomes the number one suspect. It is time to clear her name and save her business, so she begins an investigation of her own.

This was a fun start to a new cozy mystery series. I have been reading two other series by Debra Sennefelder, so I was pretty sure I would enjoy this one and I did. Mallory is a great character and I love that she isn't just a baker, but an artist when it comes to decorating cookies. I also liked that she listened to her customers so she could give them exactly what they wanted. It is that listening skill that helps her with her investigation. I liked when she commented to the detective who was upset with her for investigating, "I can't help it if people tell me things." As the investigation proceeds, it becomes obvious that Beatrice wasn't a very nice person and there was more than one person who might have done her in. As Mallory gets closer to discovering what happened, she is threatened so knows she is on the right track. I love that people confessed other crimes to her and she ended up helping arrest several other people who had broken the law. The final showdown surprised me, as I didn't suspect the killer at all, but it fit well together and I enjoyed the story. This is a well written and plotted story with great characters. The side stories helped us to get to know the characters and I definitely enjoyed this one. I recommend this book to those who enjoy a culinary cozy mystery. Ellen Quay narrated this audiobook and did a nice job. This is the first time I have listened to this voice performer and I enjoyed her voice and the expression she used in the story.

*I received a copy of this book on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for this opportunity*

The first in Debra Sennefelder's new cozy mystery series, HOW THE MURDER CRUMBLES follows Mallory Monroe and her fight to clear her name. After recently purchasing her aunt's beloved local bakery, Mallory manages to put her own spin on the business and begins offering decorated cookies to the people of Wingate, Connecticut. However, after a very public argument with the town's busy-body, Mallory discovers her body and becomes the number-one suspect. In a bid to clear her name (and improve her cookie sales), Mallory decides to do some investigating of her own with some serious consequences...

CRUMBLES was the quintessential cozy mystery-- complete with a cat named Agatha and a handsome detective--but it didn't offer anything new or fresh to the genre. Sennefelder did a wonderful job creating a charming new world for her stories and each character felt well developed, if a little forthcoming to the new baker. At times it felt like Mallory had too many suspects, and each person gave just enough information to keep the reader in the dark on who the killer could be (or, at times, too much information to be believable). Mallory was aggressive in her questioning, and I'm curious if her confrontational approach (and, I'm sure, her label as a nosey busy-body) will be addressed in later books.

Overall, a safe choice for fans of Joanna Flukes or anyone looking for a standard cozy book.

First and foremost, thank you so much to Dreamscape Media, Debra Sennefelder, and NetGalley for an ARC of this audiobook!

This book was such a fun read for me on my daily walks. I absolutely love a murder mystery but even more so when I get to own and operate a small business along side my main character. This one follows Mallory who owns a cookie shop in Wingate, Connecticut!

Are you hooked yet? You should be!

Not only is this book filled with silly cookie puns and a recipe at the end, Mallory is happy living her quiet life until she discovers her boyfriend has been cheating on her the entire time. Then a local food blogger accused her of stealing her cookie recipe! To put a chocolate chip on top, said food blogger turns up dead and Mallory finds the body! Dum dum dummmmm!

THEN the girl her ex was cheating on her with MOVED TO TOWN and rents the flat above the cookie shop!!

Guys, as a gemini, I loved the drama! I don't want to give anything away so I shut my mouth but I will say you'll root for Mallory and her small business. You'll also love her cat, Agatha (named after Christie!).

Anyway, you'll get loads of small town gossip, two potential love interests, great friends and tons of community support. I super enjoyed this book and Ellen Quay was a fantastic narrator! Def a book I recommend to anyone interested in murder mysteries.

This book is a delicious start to a new series. The murder may have been pretty straightforward but I loved that there were so many to suspect in this story! A lot of people had some good motives! I was racing with Mallory to see Whodunnit! Great world and character building was happening to set up for future books which I am in eager anticipation to read! Thanks to @dreamscape_media I also had the chance to listen to this book and I loved it. The narrator did a great job of bringing the characters to life and keeping the pace of the book going.

If you are a fan of The Bakeshop Series by Ellie Alexander or Hannah Swensen Series by Joanne Fluke then I think you will enjoy picking up this book!

How the Murder Crumbles is a very fun, cozy mystery. Mallory is a likeable protagonist, who makes you feel for the tough situation she’s in. I received this as an audiobook, which was a first for me, but I really enjoyed this medium. The narration was well done. Overall, very enjoyable book and I look forward to the next instalment.

Mallory owns a cookie shop where she sells her aunts most famous cookie! Then a potential customer comes in and accuses Mallory of stealing her recipe! Next thing Mallory knows, this woman is dead!

A cute mystery! I enjoyed the story line and appreciated that the murder was early on in the story so that you have the rest of the book to try and figure out who killed the victim!

I listened to the audiobook and while it did hold my attention for the most part I did feel like the narrator didn’t distinguish the many different voices well enough. Some of the characters sounded the same so that was slightly confusing. I will be looking out for the next book in this series.

Thank you to Netgalley and dreamscape media for allowing me to listen to this audiobook in exchange for an honest review!

Mallory is having a tough week. She is just trying to sell her cookies and make delicious baskets for all to enjoy. Unfortunately someone things she is making her cookies from their recipe and confronts her about it. Of course that person soon winds up dead and it is up to Mallory to find out who did it before her business is done in, .I think I would enjoy eating some of the creations she made. Look forward to the next one.
