This was my first Freida book and I really enjoyed it.
I received an ARC of The Coworker and finished it in 2 days.
The characters were great and there was a twist or two that I didn’t see coming.
It’s a quick read and it kept my attention. I’m excited to read more of her work!

I was so delighted to score an early copy of this audiobook. Freida McFadden is an autobuy author for me so anytime I can get my hands on one of her books I’m psyched. I’m currently working through her whole catalog.

Onto the review for this one…

The MC, Dawn Schiff is strange. A real odd duck. I was immediately fascinated by her character and her fascination with turtles. 🐢There was just something about her…a sadness and something else, something deeper….I needed to know more.

The there was the other MC, Natalie who seemed ok at first but as the story went on, reminded me of the character Jenny from Workin Moms (a rude selfish b). I was just like REALLY NATALIE!?! 😡

The beginning starts out great but things were a little slow towards the middle (timelines and dual narrators) and I wasn’t sure if I would like the book…but as always #infreidawetrust so I stuck with it and I’m glad I did. It was a good story with various storylines tied up nicely.

However, if I hear the word TURTLE 🐢 one more time I might scream. Jk…sorta. I really liked learned a lot of cool stuff about turtles while listening to this audiobook #noregrets

Seriously, Freida McFadden is amazing…always.

I enjoyed this book! There were a few parts of this book that seemed different from a typical Freida book. The amount of time I heard turtles!!! I have previously listened to this book and did not like the narrators depiction of the main character. Overall a good read!

I loved this book and finished it very quickly! This had me on the edge of my seat through it all! I didn’t guess the ending and nearly got whiplash from the plot twist!

This book is such a great thriller/mystery! It definitely keeps you guessing all the way to the end, while also having great plot twists throughout! It has a similar feeling to “the housemaid” yet it is still unique and entertaining! I am now officially obsessed with this author! 😂☺️

Absolutely loved this one! I binged it in one night. This book was an emotional rollercoaster and the pacing was fantastic. Freida McFadden has easily become one of my favorite authors!

Frieda McFadden's latest didn't pack quite the punch that some of her earlier thrillers did, but it was still an enjoyable ride! "The Coworker" begins when Dawn doesn't turn up to work one day. As the office accountant, Dawn could often be a bit strange at times, but her co-worker Natalie is still concerned when Dawn is nowhere to be found. After receiving an alarming phone call at the office from Dawn, asking for help, Natalie decides to venture over to Dawn's house to check on her. There, she stumbles upon what looks to be a horrific crime scene. The living room is covered in blood......yet Dawn is nowhere to be found.

Natalie soon finds herself the main suspect in Dawn's disappearance. Her only hope is to try to find Dawn, or to figure out what has happened to her. The sooner the better, as detectives are beginning to sniff her out. As Natalie unofficially investigates Dawn's disappearance, she soon finds out that someone may have been out to get Dawn. And that person is now determined to have Natalie take the fall.

I found certain elements of this novel pretty predictable. McFadden typically has me gasping at some unexpected craziness at some point, but that didn't happen here. Natalie wasn't the most likeable of characters, but she also was kind of a badass, which I liked. You can definitely knock this book out in a day or two, and it was pretty entertaining, so I am going to go ahead and tell you to give it a go!

Freida McFadden is one of the queens of psychological suspense -- really, women writers do this genre so much better than men -- and her books never disappoint. This tale of a weird coworker whom no one seems to like or care about -- except Natalie, who may be putting herself in danger by getting involved -- is another can't-put-it-down read.

First time author for me and I loved it. This is a fast-paced thriller with an unexpected twist at the end. Office bullying taken to the extreme, or is it? I thought I had it figured out, but the author twisted & twisted again.

The police think Natalie killed her co-worker Dawn because of some office bullying. But if not Natalie, who? I loved the character of Dawn, and quite enjoyed the turtle references. Natalie is just what you would expect from someone pretty who has always gotten her way.

I enjoyed the writing style and the quick pace. If you like thrillers, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I received this advance review copy from NetGalley and the publisher for my honest review.

Once again Freida nailed it on the head! The twist, the turns, the shock at the end!! Who is telling the truth? Who do you trust? Is anyone who they say they are?! I loved this book, as expected, and it will definitely be listed in my top 5! Thank you Freida!

Thank you Poisoned Pen Press, Freida McFadden, and NetGalley for a copy of this ARC in return for an honest opinion.

The story follows Natalie and her strange coworker Dawn. Dawn is very precise and always follows the same schedule down to the minute every day. So when Natalie shows up to work one day and Dawn isn’t at her desk yet, she knows something is wrong and takes it upon herself to try and figure out what happened to Dawn.

It was a quick read. The story was entertaining. I liked the way Dawn’s obsession was written and referenced throughout the book. It really made Dawn seem like a strange person.

I have to admit though, I saw the main twist coming, which is unusual with Freida’s books. There were, however, some other twists I didn’t see coming that were shocking.

All in all, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it. 4/5 stars.

Freida McFadden's novels are a must-read for me. Although this one is full of twists and turns, as is to be expected from her novels, this one wasn't my favorite. I loved the alternating viewpoints as it built suspense throughout the book and kept me reading late into the night. However, the focus on the turtles was a bit over-the-top (although I do know it's a bit of an "inside joke" to us McFans). It just got to be a bit too much after a while. With that said, this is definitely an enjoyable read with some great plot twists. 3.5 stars.

The Coworker by Frieda McFadden is exactly what you would expect from this author. It was a quick and engaging read full of twists and turns and full of characters that you love to hate. This book did not disappoint,

I was hooked on this story from the beginning. I developed a love/hate relationship with the characters immediately. The plot is great, but keep in mind, not everything is always what it seems. The author did an amazing job with this one! The Coworker kept me on the edge of my seat and I could not stop turning the pages.

This was the best mystery/thriller I've read in awhile. I was hooked from the first page to the epilogue. Natalie and Dawn are co-workers, but the two aren't very close. When Dawn doesn't show up for work, Natalie becomes involved in an investigation, and is possibly to blame for Dawn's disappearance. While the present day story is taking place, past emails from Dawn to a friend give us some backstory. I loved the pacing of this novel there is a lot of workplace drama and drama outside of the office. This kept me on my toes, and I wasn't really able to guess the end. The chapters were short so this was a fast and enjoyable read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the early copy of this book.

I always look forward to reading a Freida McFadden novel, because I know to expect that trademark twist, or in this case, twists. I was hooked with the plot line and must admit that I could never have guessed the outcome. The shift in both main characters from chapter to chapter helps to build the suspense and anticipation as the plot continues to unravel.

Binge-worthy. Fast Paced. Entertaining. Those are just a few words I could use to describe the latest from McFadden. I have read quite a few from her, and have been highly satisfied every time. While it did start a little slowly compared to other Freida works, it didn’t disappoint at all. The whole time she had me fooled, thinking this book was about exposing Natalie. No no no. I should have known better. Not only did it keep my guessing, I was totally BLOWN AWAY by the ending. Freida McFadden is one author I continue to suggest over and over again.

This was another fantastic edition from Freida McFadden! Admittedly, not my favorite of her books, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a great story with plenty of twists and turns. Don’t be mean to the weird person in the office!

This is the second book that I've read by Freida McFadden, and it did not disappoint! So many twists and turns! I thought I had it all figured out, and just at the right moment, I get proven wrong.
This book took me out of a reading slump, and I'm so glad I read it. In time for publication, and I'm already telling everyone I know about this book!
