Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this ebook and this is my freely given opinion.

This is book 4 of the series, and I am liking how there is a bit of overlap of the various story-lines and interconnection of various characters, in minor ways, throughout the series.

We meet both these protagonists in the previous books in some way. Lady Ashleigh appeared to be a spoiled, snobbish wealthy daughter of an aristocrat, and a bit of a Regency Mean Girl, along with her friend. But in this book, we get more of her story and background, learning that, despite her elevated station in life, she and her mother are caught up in a cycle of abuse from her father. Ashleigh is desperate to try to find a way to escape her father and save her mother from him before it is too late. She does not want to marry, but her plans to try to gain the funds for a simple life with her mother in hiding have not come to fruition.

Cameron MacNeil is a man with many secrets, working incognito for the Crown. He hides behind a slovenly bearded facade, but this allows him to hear so much, yet be unseen as members of the Ton choose not to see someone so beneath their usual standards of beauty and decorum. But, before he can continue his secret work, he needs to take care of a bit of personal housekeeping. He is a widowed single father, and needs to find himself a high born wife who is used to managing a large household and estate and can be a mother to his young son. However, his first marriage was a severe disappointment, so he has no desire to seek love, or even intimacy again. He seeks out the help of the School of Spinsters to find him such a bride.

Ashleigh and he initially find they are not what each other seeks, but when pushed to desperation by her father, Ashleigh reapproaches Cameron again, and they elope without her knowing what she is truly signing up for, but willing to take a risk to save herself and her mother from her father. In the end, Ashleigh finds she does not want a cold marriage in name only, but desires a true family and marriage, and Cameron is not able to resist her, especially when he finds that she is nothing like his first wife. However, she and her mother are unable to stay out of her father's reach in the end, and Cameron is forced to deal with him, to keep his family safe.

Both Ashleigh and Cameron were intriguing characters, partly because we were introduced and only saw the one side of them before, and now get more insight into them in this story, and I loved the tension and dynamics in the various familial relationships.

I am further drawn in by the building intrigue of the secondary relationship hinted at in the last book and continuing in this one.

4 stars out of 5

This is the second book of The School for Spinsters and is a great addition to the series. Lady Ashleigh has a very controlling father. He is planning on getting her married to one of his cronies, and she is desperate to escape the marriage and his clutches. She goes to Mrs. Harding and the School for Spinsters for help. Cameron MacNeil is a spy for the Crown. The ton sees him as an awkward man, with a somewhat shabby appearance, which suits him just fine. All the better to stay unnoticed and do his job. He is looking for a woman to be his wife, in name only, and stay home and hold down the fort, as well as take care of his son. He enlists the help of the School for Spinsters to help him find such a woman. When Cameron and Lady Ashleigh meet, they know they are not well suited for each other. But when Cameron witnesses firsthand the abuse she faces by her father, he becomes her savior and saves her from her father's clutches.
The story was well-paced and well-written and kept my interest till the end. I enjoyed how the characters started to fall for each other as they got to know each other and see their true selves. They were truly great characters and I became invested in their story. An entertaining and enjoyable addition to the series!

I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.

Finding out that her cruel father has sold her hand in marriage, Lady Ashleigh Pryor knows her time is up, and she needs to escape immediately. She's saved a little of her pin money, but not enough to survive, and especially not with her mother. She needs Mrs Harding's help, and it seems Ashleigh might finally be in luck. Cameron MacNeill has arrived in London to find a wife, in name only, who can be the mother to his son, and not ask too many questions about his work. He's also attracted to Ashleigh, though he's adamant he won't fall in love.

As much as I disliked Ashleigh in the first book, I understood why she had acted that way once we learnt about her family story. She may be the daughter of a Marquess, but he was cruel and abusive, and always needed control. Ashleigh had never had the freedom to make her own choices, and especially not to make mistakes, and needed some time to come into her true self. She and Cameron were a great couple, and though I wish they hadn't kept so many secrets from each other - especially Cameron about his work for the Crown, and little Logan - I understood why they'd done so. This was a great Regency romance, and I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing the couple again in book 3!

Love Cannot Be Denied

When Ashleigh and Cameron met, they were sure they would not suit. She was a spoiled and cruel chit, he thought. She did not like his long beard, or his terms for marriage. Could there be more to them than met the eye? Soon Circumstances would force them to act, but Cameron wanted marriage, in name only. He was a man with secrets, and some of them were deadly. However, soon, Ashleigh would find herself falling in love with her husband. Could she convince him to make their marriage a real one? First, she must uncover his secrets. There would be challenges ahead. Ashleigh's escaped her father, but he might not give up so easily, and he was not their only problem. I enjoyed this delightful historical romance with mystery and suspense. This author's books are always a delight.

Cameron has spent his life in a world of pain and suffering. His only purpose in life is as a spy for the crown and finding a wife to mother his son. His rules for a wife change when he rescues Lady Ashleigh from her abusive father. But Ashleigh's father wants her back and will buy whatever it takes to get her back. Cameron will do whatever it takes to keep her. Willingham writes of deep emotional pain and love.
Descriptive sex and violence.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

We typically get the spoiled rotten, apple of daddys eyes type of father/daughter relationships in regency romances so this was a new premise for me where the dad is abusive and controlling. I enjoyed the book thoroughly and I loved Cam/Ashleigh relationship. I don't know why they made Cam a widow/dad it didn't really work with his vibe. I will be reading the rest of the books!

Well, this was not a full book only an except of the first few chapters, but I am hooked.
Not enough of the book was available for a full review, but what was available indicates that the main leads are supportable. They are kind, have depth of character and have eccentricities that make them stand out. And neither of them like to stand out. They each want to get married to a kind person and have children and a family.
The heroine is facing struggles in that her step mother is not happy giving her repeated seasons and this will be the last. In one month, her parents will have an auction and she will be the prized treasure given away with the household good that will be up for auction. The heroine is appalled. She begs to go to Mrs Harding's Schhol, because two wallflowers she knows recently became engaged and married.
The hero is an earl from Ireland. His grandfather died young and his father passed away seven years prior. His older brother died three years ago, So the hero is insistent that he is going to die before then end of the year. He has asked 12 woman to marry him over the past 12 months. All have turned him down. The hero is very forgetful and doesnt seem able to remember anything.
At this point of the story, the main characters have not met yet. This is such a well written story that immediately drew me in. I was so upset that there were only a few chapters. I hope I am able to read this book when it comes out.
I give 5 stars and so far re commend reading.

Caught in a trap of her own making, Lady Ashleigh finds herself at Cameron MacNeill's mercy when she becomes desperate enough to make her escape from her father's house. Cameron is looking for a wife, but one that he can trust with his son and his household, and Lady Ashleigh is not that woman. Nevertheless, he cannot ignore a woman who is under threat and he makes a pact with her, one that they both begin to regret as they uncover truths about one another and realize that first impressions are not always correct. The romance between Cameron and Ashleigh moves slowly, but there is fast-paced action throughout, bringing the novel to an unexpected and good conclusion. I received a copy of this novel as a gift from Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

With a strong heroine who showed her strength in different ways, and a damaged hero, this book captured my attention from the beginning. I loved both Ashleigh and Cameron and how they interacted with each other. I also loved the storyline and how the author handled the issues in the story.

Good book about a damsel in distress and her unlikely white knight. Lady Ashleigh and her mother are caught in a nightmare situation. Her father is a controlling and abusive man who regularly takes out his anger on her mother and her. Ashleigh has been saving her pin money in a desperate attempt to gain the funds necessary for her and her mother to escape. But when her father announces his plans to marry her to his friend, she knows she must move up her timeline. Ashleigh goes to Mrs. Harding at the School for Spinsters for help. Mrs. Harding suggests she use marriage to another man to escape and offers to find such a man for her.

Cameron has come to London from Scotland to find a wife. He is a widower with a young son and a spy for the Crown. A handsome and wealthy man, he disguised himself with a long beard and frumpy clothes to discourage those who wouldn't fit his needs. Because of a tragedy in his past, he only wants a marriage in name only.

When Ashleigh and Cameron meet, they quickly decide they would not suit. Ashleigh doesn't look past Cameron's appearance, and Cameron bases his decision on an incident he witnessed but doesn't know the background of. However, over the next few days, neither can forget the other. Cameron's instincts tell him Ashleigh is in trouble, but he tries to convince himself it's not his business. When circumstances force Ashleigh to attempt her escape earlier than planned (and she stupidly trusts the wrong person), Cormac witnesses first-hand the abuse she faces. I loved his quick-thinking extrication of Ashleigh from her father's clutches.

Ashleigh is understandably wary of Cameron, given her experience with her father, but his kindness and gentleness weaken her defenses. He offers to either marry her or take her somewhere safe. I liked their compromise: they would get to know each other on the trip to Scotland, where she would decide. They had a frank discussion of their expectations - no intimacy on his side and her mother's rescue on hers. During the trip, the sparks of attraction between them grow.

I loved Ashleigh's sensitivity to what she believes is Cameron's poor state of finances, and she is taken aback by the things he has purchased for her for their wedding. The wedding scene was terrific, and Cameron's fight against his attraction was evident. I loved her shock when they arrived at his home, and she discovered the truth about his wealth. But the bigger surprise comes when he tells her about his son and his expectation that she will be a mother to him. I understood his reasons for not telling her before, but it was still wrong.

I enjoyed watching their relationship develop. The sparks between them are evident from the start, but Cameron is determined to ignore them. That becomes increasingly difficult as Ashleigh is determined to make theirs a real marriage. I enjoyed seeing Ashleigh discover that there is more to Cameron than meets the eye, and she rapidly loses her heart to him. Her frustration is evident when he leaves soon after their arrival and gives no indication when he will return. He has been assigned a new mission and refuses to tell her about his clandestine activities.

I ached for them during their time apart. I liked seeing Ashleigh settle in, fall for little Logan, and help her mother recover. But she desperately misses Cameron. Meanwhile, Cameron is in desperate straits on his mission, and his life is in danger. I was glued to the pages through this part as he faced death. I cheered on Ashleigh after his arrival back home in deplorable condition and loved her determination to be part of his healing. Her ingenuity in finding her way past his protectors was inspired.

This was a turning point in their marriage, and I loved watching them grow closer. Cameron must get past his traumatic memories before he can open up completely to his feelings for her. There are also some instances of Ashleigh needing to realize that Cameron is very different than her father and that she can trust him. I loved how Ashleigh went after what she wanted.

There is trouble with Ashleigh's father, who has not taken the disappearance of his daughter and wife well. He makes a tactical error in his attempt to get them back to London. I loved the plan Ashleigh and Cameron devised and enjoyed seeing Ashleigh take on her father. The real surprise was Ashleigh's mother, and I loved seeing the changes in her.

The ending was great, and I'm looking forward to reading more of this series.

Cameron MacNeill lives a life full of secrets . He prefers to blend into the background, but needs to find a mother for his son. The woman's character is the most important thing to him.

Lady Ashleigh Pryor needs to find a way to get herself and hopefully her mother away from her abusive father. Easier said than done when men have all the legal power over their female family members.

This historical romance has incredibly strong characters. Some just need a push to find their courage. There is lots of adventure, it is slightly steamy and has secrets galore. It's a fast paced read that is part of a series. Each book in the series can be read alone, but they will tempt you to read the rest.

Great fun.

Lady Ashleigh Pryor needs to leave an abusive home. Cameron McNeill is in need of a wife. Both of them visit Mrs. Harding in need of help looking for a spouse. Due to unforeseen events, Lady Ashleigh and Chief McNeill end up running away together.

This is a story of two people who look past what they think about the other in order to make a marriage work. It was a cute romantic story of watching the two get to know each other.

I can’t wait for the third book!

A lovely story in which a pivotal lesson is learned - never judge a book by its cover. Cameron MacNeill appears unkempt and uncouth when he is a rich Chief in Scotland with his own castle. :Lady Ashleigh Pryor looks like she has everything but in reality lives with an abusive father whom she would do almost anything to escape. Neither Cam nor Ashleigh are fully convinced the other is what they need. Cam wants a mother for his son and a wife in name only. Ashleigh simply wants a way out for her and for her mother.

Cam and Ashleigh embark on a journey over both physical and emotional distance. The story keeps the reader involved, even as Cam’s willful blindness to the life he could have frustrates over and over again. Logan is a sweet addition, and it is fantastic to see Ashleigh and her mother be able to forge identities away from the man who continues to seek to abuse them.

This is a very slow burn and can be a little too pat in places. But a good read overall. While part of a series, this book can be read as a standalone. A solid 4 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and Dragonblade for a complimentary ARC of this title. The opinions in this review are my own.

Interesting premise...

I really liked the premise of Match Me, I'm Falling.
Cam MacNeill is a wealth man, with a son and a castle, He has a list of requirements for his potential wife. One is celibacy, but we'll come to that in a bit.
He hides in plain sight, with his long beard and unkempt appearance, cuz he's got secrets.

Ashleigh is in dire need of funds to escape her abusive father (a marquess who abuses his wife) with her mother. Cam engages Mrs. Hardy and Cedric and Cedric (crafty as he is) sees an opportunity for Ashleigh and Cam.

So, great book, I really liked both main characters and back to that celibacy bit? Yeah. Well, you have to read it to see how that worked out....But you could also take a guess.
Cam suffers from guilt that his wife died in childbirth and only wants to be friends with a mother for his son.
Recommend.

I liked this story. Neil is looking for a new wife funadamentally to look after his son, Logan. He is not very presentable becuase he uses his appearance as an aide to helping his work as a spy. I must admit I was confused as to which Queen he worked for....it wasn't my impression that George 111's wife was a great spymaster, too busy with those 15 kids. We've met Ashleigh in the other books. She was boxed into being unpleasant to a previous heroine. Ashleigh has been bullied by her father. She's also very concerned for her mother Georgina's mental state. The horrible father want's to marry her off so Ashleigh approaches the school for spinisters to see if they can find a spouse. Neil and Ashleigh agree they won't suit but then Neil changes his mind seeing the desperate situation. He agrees to help her flee with the idea that on the journey they get to know each other and then Ashleigh can confirm the marriage when they arrive at his estate. I thought some of it was a little OTT come unrealistic especially Neil being in prison for a couple of months and tortured.. If Georgina knew she was married at 16 without her parents permission why didn't she threaten the husband with this before...but obviously the downside of this would have been to make Ashleigh illegitimate.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I loved this book!!!

Cameron MacNeill needs a wife and Lady Ashleigh Pryor needs to escape her father’s home. They look to Ms. Harding at the ‘school for spinsters’ for help. They seem a perfect match for a marriage of convenience, but neither Cameron nor Ashleigh agrees. However, in the masterful writing of Michelle Willingham, they not only end up in a marriage, but have to work together to keep them and Cameron’s son safe.

I love the characters Ms. Willingham creates and I can’t help but fall in love with them. They are smart, witty, and loving. Her books are always a go to for me. They captivate me from the beginning, and I find myself not putting them down until I’m done. I loved seeing a few scenes from the first book of this series, A Match Made in London, from Ashleigh and Cameron’s point of view. I always enjoy seeing characters flow from one book to the next, but especially when we’re given a more complete view of a scene from several other characters. Her secondary characters have wit and wisdom and I enjoyed seeing more of Ms. Harding and Gregory, I hope they can both have their own happy endings as well. This is a wonderful standalone read, but I think would be enjoyed even more if you read book one in the series first. I received an arc from NetGalley of this book, and this is my honest review.

To the London ton, Cameron MacNeill is an awkward, wallflower of a man with no hope of finding a wife. But the Highland chief holds deadly secrets, and he uses his beggar-like appearance to remain unnoticed. He enlists the help of the School for Spinsters to help him find a wife who will agree to be married in name only—because he needs a mother for his son while he is away working on behalf of the Crown. Lady Ashleigh Pryor will do anything to escape the abusive household of her father, the Marquis of Rothbury, even marry a man she barely knows. But Cameron’s lightning reflexes, the powerful muscles he hides behind ill-fitting clothing, and his mysterious manner suggest that he is not a beggar at all, but a man hiding a past he wants no one to know about.
The second book in the series & it’s easily read on its own although both Cameron & Ashleigh feature in the first book. I really liked Cameron who was Ashleigh's knight in shining armour. I came to this book disliking Ashleigh but gradually, as her backstory emerged, I came to like her. I did love the attraction between them & how Cameron fought against it. I enjoyed this well written romance which held my interest all the way through. There are edge of the seat moments, a mother & daughter emerging from years of abuse & a tender love story
My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
