A delightfully creative, personal, and vulnerable guide to channelling feelings into creation. This book isn't about the outcome of creativity – your art absolutely doesn't have to be great, or even good, or for anyone's eyes other than your own. But it is about self-knowledge, discovery, ritual, conversation, and release. As Caitlin Metz realises, this can be incredibly transformative. Thank you to the publisher for the ARC.

This book is unlike anything i've ever seen/read before.
On the face of it, it looks like a ton of 'doodles' - but when you do a more detailed look it's so intricate and detailed.
There is so much to this book! Its a great one to dip in and out of.
Its also a good 'pick-me-up' when you're feeling a bit low, or need some inspiration!

Feel something, Make something: A Guide to Collaborating with Emotions by Caitlin Metz

First of all, this book is visually intriguing. I asked to do a review and so glad I did. The book is the right blend of quirky, show but not lead too much. The supply list, how to’s and activities are not overwhelming or intimidating which is important when working with emotions, right? Nothing looks too time consuming or doesn’t look like it can’t be broken into steps for the time you have, when you have it. I will definitely be looking into getting a print copy of this title and other works by this author/ artist.

This will be a good book for people who enjoy creative ways of doing soul work. I would have preferred more exercises and less talk, but it’s very subjective.

Feel Something, Make Something by Caitlin Metz

This book was a fantastic surprise! I was expecting some creative ideas for expressing feelings, something I desperately need. And it is that. But there is so much more here. The unexpected first section explains ways to access what you're feeling before you start trying to express it, and it is so helpful.

The second (longer) section of the book addresses how to collaborate, as the title says, with the emotions. It is filled with practical tools and applications for those of us without a natural creative inclination. And finally she offers some tutorials for some of her favorite ways of creating.

I received an e-version of this book to review, but I will absolutely be buying a hard copy when it releases.

“I’ve yet to encounter a feeling that can’t be softened by making something” writes Caitlin Metz. This book features illustrations by the author that show how when we pay attention to our feelings and pause so we can notice them, we can experience the “alchemy of transmuting emotion into artifact” with the art we create.
Throughout the book, Metz explains five distinct functions for self-preservation within art-making: ritual, documentation, conversation, expression, and disruption. This is a wonderful inspirational book for any budding or seasoned artist to have.

Highly readable, "Feel Something, Make Something" is a manual for creative self-expression and reflection. Metz suggests that it is through creating something new that we can experience deep pleasure and the shifting of perspective. She provides tutorials on drawing, body mapping, mind mapping, self-portraiture, and creative writing. Recommended for those who want to explore making art or self-expression. Highly recommended.
