Violent crime in Milwaukee is on a high and Mason is thriving and business is booming. But suddenly two cases have shaken Mason and his faith in his city. As Mason tries to recover and work through his cases he has to keep his head straight and out of the light. This was well written but I didnt personally like it very much. It was kinda boring and didnt really appeal to me.

This book gave me Eddie Flynn vibes!

If I am honest, I was a little hesitant to start this book because I wasn’t a massive of the cover. DON’T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER because I actually enjoyed this.

I liked the writing style and how different plots came together in the end, although I wish there was more substance to the ending.

Overall, a great book if you like court room drama / John Grisham

This is a story that keeps a steady pace and is written in a clear and dynamic narrative. The author skillfully weaves a story of suspense, psychological intrigue, and moral ambiguity. This is a must-read for fans of murder mysteries and legal thrillers. This is an excellent and intriguing read. I would definitely recommend this book!

Great lawyer/ courtroom book of a defense lawyer and several cases, injustices, courtroom descriptions, and how not all outcomes are predictable. Really enjoyed this one, loved the characters, and the cases.

The story line was good but the way it bounced around made it a little hard to keep up with. Every chapter bounced around and it just didn’t feel like it flowed coherently.

Lewis Allan does a great job in creating a great mystery going on. The characters were what I was expecting from the genre. It had everything that I was expecting and glad I got to read about the characters. It left me wanting to read more from the author.

A debut legal genre novel, Mouse in the Box by Lewis Allan is actually co-authored by two former childhood friends. The experienced trial lawyer and freelance writer combine their experience to create Mason Mitchell, a criminal defense attorney based in Wisconsin. Having his own law firm means Mitch’s clients are drug dealers, gang members and accused murderers. In the beginning, the story is somewhat jumpy between Mitch’s various legal cases but settles into revealing his lifestyle and best friend Clyde. The final court case made it truly interesting; however, the narrative lacked a certain edginess despite the odd twists. Its unusual title may have been the hook to draw readers in and so it’s an enjoyable enough legal thriller with a three and a half stars read rating. With thanks to Stretched Studio LLC and the author, for an uncorrected advanced review copy for review purposes. As always, the opinions herein are totally my own and freely given.

This was one of my favorite reads of the year. So many twists and turns that kept you wanting more. I couldn’t read it fast enough and I was feening for more of the story. I hope there is going to be a second one! I love how the title of the book tied into the plot of the story.

A gritty crime novel that will leave you questioning the very fabric of justice in a city torn apart by violence and corruption. With a tantalizing hook, the book immerses you in the record-breaking violent crime epidemic plaguing Milwaukee. Attorney Mason Mitchell, a relentless defender of the accused, grapples with his own demons as he fights to navigate a justice system tainted by corruption and racial tension. Allan's writing is gritty and unapologetic, capturing the dark realities of a city in turmoil.

In this riveting thriller, the author takes readers on a relentless journey through the dark underbelly of Milwaukee's violent crime wave. Attorney Mason Mitchell, a complex and deeply flawed protagonist, brings a refreshing perspective to the genre.
