I absolutely LOVED this book and I am so floored by Hannah Grace's ability to capture the true essence of a romance novel.
Russ and Aurora's relationship builds so naturally, and I really felt as though I was watching two distant, loose acquaintances get together more so than reading about two fictional characters.
I loved the friendships between the hockey boys and also the ones between the camp counselors; one of my favorite features in books is friend groups and their dynamics and Hannah Grace definitely knocked it out of the park.
All in all, this was a great follow up to Icebreaker and the perfect way to further craft the Maple Hills universe. I'm 100% excited to see where this series takes me next and I can't wait.
P.S. -- I'm immensely grateful for the lack of a third act breakup because I despise that trope and it's a breath of fresh air to not have to deal with it.

After reading Hannah Grace's Icebreaker a few months back, I was excited to pick up Wildfire--and it did not disappoint.
The one negative thing I'll say is that I felt like Nate and Stassie had more chemistry in Icebreaker. HOWEVER, this story stays true to the Russ we met in that book. He's kind, gentle, a bit shy, but clearly fits in with the hockey group, which means he's funny and charming, too.
The biggest plus of Wildfire is how quickly it went. Over 400 pages, this book flew in comparison to Icebreaker (which I felt could have stopped 2 or 3 times before it actually reached it's conclusion). Russ and Rory have the forced proximity trope working in their favor. They both know their daddy issues, so their story is much more straight forward. A little miscommunication. A little hesitance. But we know where it's going from chapter one, and getting there is still a fun ride.
It's a cute story with a couple steamy scenes. Definitely worth the read!
Overall: 4 stars
I'll tell my students about: alcohol, language, sex, trauma

I was extremely excited to receive an early copy of this book, because of how well received Icebreaker was and how I couldn't wait to see what Hannah did next. This book was by a long shot my favourite of the two books so far and I really enjoyed getting thrown back into the Maple Hill world again.
Russ and Aurora are so much more interesting and have more chemistry than I initially anticipated which made me fall head over heels for this book. They continuously complimented each other, Russ being very much the golden retriever of the relationship and Aurora being the loyal but persistent person in the relationship.
The plot and storyline for this book was so well written and fleshed out, that it was easy to follow. This was a book that I enjoyed outside in the sun, and one I will definitely be picking up again in the fall to read again. It was a fantastic book, and I can't wait to read more from Hannah.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Another wonderful romance from Hannah Grace. As someone who is fairly new to the romance community I am a bit unsure of what I like and don’t like in my romance novels. Whatever Hannah Grace puts into her books, that’s what I like. I love how fluffy and feel good this is all while still tackling real issues that the characters are dealing with and a bit of spice thrown in for good measure. I will be counting down the days until this book is out into the world and I can fangirl with everyone

Comparing this book to Icebreaker, it was quite underwhelming. I was not connected to the characters as much as the first book and it wasn’t as fun. What I enjoyed the most about this whole series is the friend group and how supportive they all were.

Wildfire was an adorable and sexy novel that cheered me up exactly when I needed it. It was the perfect summer camp vibe. Fans of Icebreaker will be thrilled to see all of their favourite characters back again. The found family in this book is more than half the fun. Hannah Grace treats the friendships in her novels with the gravity friendships deserve, and every moment of interaction with the crew is perfect, hilarious, and touching. Aurora and Russ make for the sweetest couple. This was a fun, light read that really cheered my week up.

This book was way better than Icebreaker! I liked the summer camp setting, but felt that the main characters were hard to like. They both had daddy issues which they made their whole personality. Just hearing how both of them were insecure was hard to get through because it was just cringey. That being said they were more likable than Stassi and Nate were in the first book. I would have liked to read a little bit more about their relationship when they returned to college, but I am happy with the epilogue and thought it was a good full circle ending. I’m excited to read the stories of the other friends from Maple Valley.

I thought this was super cute but I wish it wouldn’t have been daddy issues again like Nate’s story in Icebreakers. I was thrown off by the epilogue in Icebreakers happening in the future after this story happened, but it wasn’t a deterrent from Wildfire.

I jumped at this book! I loved Icebreaker! I was so excited to read this book and the follow up did not disappoint. I loved the drama and the romance. It was a great follow up that was amazing!

This book is about two college kids on summer break working as camp counselors. They both are trying to escape their toxic home environments but unfortunately, even that pokes through the bubble of summer camp.
Overall, I thought this had a lot of positives and is a fun summer read. I do think there’s a lot of explanation of feelings to the point where I felt like the characters were a bit too aware of their own flaws.
I think it’ll still do well, especially with the NA age group. I think I just wanted more finessing of some of the emotional things.

This book was so cute!! It had me kicking my feet and smiling at my phone while reading. Russ is the sweetest man on earth and the way he makes Aurora feel should be the standard worldwide.

My second Hannah Grace DNF. Its not a super hard dnf, but I don't see myself returning to this any time soon. It had the same problems as Icebreaker, which that it is much too long! It feels so overwritten to the point of boredom. The start was incredible. I was surprised by how much I loved it - I was following along so closely, and then she lost me. Which sucks, because the plots are fun, I love the cover artist. It has the great making of a romance novel i SHOULD love, but the execution is where it falls apart.
Oh well.

Maybe 3.5 ⭐️?
I wanted to love it. I expected to love it. I liked it, it just fell flat. Aurora & Russ had chemistry, I guess their story just was slow moving for me - maybe a little anticlimactic?
It was still a good read. Aurora is the headstrong, alpha and Russ is the sometimes insecure, golden retriever. Set at a kids summer camp, both work there to avoid their issues with their families. Hope to see some of the supporting characters from this one get their story.

When I tell you I JUMPED to get this dang book! Russ was my favorites in Icebreaker, besides Henry of course, and I’m so so happy to have read his journey! I loved Aurora as well and I resonated with her about her family complications. My dad isn’t the best by any means and I’m glad that that was explored.

This book was cute. As someone who did the whole camp counselor summer romance thing, my heart swooned a little. This book has college romance, a little bit of miscommunication in the beginning, daddy issues, and is definitely new adult. I wasn't the biggest fan of Aurora at times but overall the story was good.

Russ and Aurora unexpectedly find themselves in a passionate one night stand right as college lets out for the summer. One last fling - no names- that they know they’ll soon move on from. All that changes when they show up for their summer jobs as camp counselors and find themselves in the same group. Now they’re spending every minute together as the weeks pass and realizing that the platonic hookup may end up extending past their original plan.

We are back with the Maple Hills hockey team for this one, although our setting has moved. Taking place the summer immediately after Icebreaker, this book follows Russ (Muffin) and a new character, Aurora. Both have some serious family baggage. Russ's dad is an addict who treats his son horribly and Aurora's dad is famous and neglectful. Russ and Aurora hook up at an end of the year party and then go their separate ways... until they find out they are both working at the same summer camp. And the summer camp has a no fraternization rule.
This was a worthy follow up to the viral Icebreaker. Mixing the same romance, serious drama, and snark, I thoroughly enjoyed Wildfire. I would recommend reading Icebreaker before starting Wildfire, as there are several call backs. I actually went back to my copy of Icebreaker a few times to cross reference things I read in Wildfire. I hope we get more books in the Maple Hills world!

Russ is precious. that is all.
Ok... there's more. :)
I read and enjoyed Hannah Grace's first novel, Icebreaker, and was not disappointed by her follow-up. Russ and Aurora are college "acquaintances" who end up as camp counselors together over the summer. Wildfire is a mix of superficial and deep - characters are doing typical young adult transitioning into adulthood things, but are also experiencing deep hurts and emotional scars that they are dealing with. I liked that they could go back and forth between the two. As someone who has loved a compulsive gambler, Russ's emotions towards his dad were very genuine and authentic. I could relate to his shame and embarrassment as well as that ever lingering feeling of hope... I love how Aurora stood her ground with Russ and didn't let him shy away from hard feelings. The dialogue between the characters is hilarious - Xander is everything. I'm hoping his story is next.
And that epilogue? swoon!!
Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This was an enjoyable romance! I liked that the setting was unique and that the story hits the perfect new adult age range of moving from YA to new adult romance books. All of the side characters worked really well when interacting with each other in different settings and none of those interactions felt forced or cringey. Loved that there was no 3rd act breakup that tends to happen in a lot of romance books, Rory stood her ground and said absolutely not on my watch will that happen. I liked that both Russ and Rory stood up to their fathers as well as talked to their mothers about the problems they were facing and why their relationships with their fathers were so strained. I am also a sucker for a years later epilogue, especially when its a small town bookstore owning situation.

My ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I didn’t read the first book, Icebreaker, before reading this book and the first chapter was a little confusing introducing most of the characters all at once without many background details but that quickly became a nonissue as the story focused on the two main characters afterwards. The story was fast paced, lovable characters with relatable struggles. Will definitely prioritize more of this author’s work!
