She did not have very much luck with her fiancé but found a nice wolf shapeshifter during her way through the Yellowstone park. Mila was a good character, after she found her fiancé and her best friend she was done with them. Steele was great to a natural leader and very good to his pack. Of course it would be to easy, if this was all, a rival pack wants his territory.
All in all a good read or better beginning of a shapeshifter series, definitely worth following.

Man. I was excited for this one because I was in a shifter/werewolf alpha romance mood, but I could not get over the writing. I felt like I was reading a fanfic story written by a high schooler….actually, that might have been better. My search continues.

I loved how fast paced and plot driven it was. As due to that, I loved how easily and faster I got lost into it!!

If you are looking for a steamy paranormal read, this one is not for you. But, if you’re craving a paranormal shifter romance with tropes like, fared mate, plus size female lead, small town vibes, and the damsel in distress, then this is the book for you! It took me a bit longer to finish this one, I’m blaming it on the lack of spice. I enjoyed the story line and shifter mind link magic. Collins writing is very easy to get lost in and the romance didn’t feel forced (though very instalove). I am interested in picking up the next book in the series and see what happens to the Moonstone pack!

Mila finds out her fiancé is having an affair with her supposed best friend. So she leaves for a walk but gets lost and attacked by a bear before Steele can come to her rescue in his wolf form. When Steele does get to her and runs the bear off, Mila is losing blood and is in and out of consciousness so he brings her to the pack doctor and has him stitch her up. Steele feels something for this human right away but he's a wolf shifter and doesn't know if his pack would accept a human as his mate since he's the alpha but the pull towards her is very strong.

While these two are getting to know each other better, there's another wolf shifter pack that's after Steele's territory and his pack and they find themselves in a lot of danger because of the other alpha.

Now this had so much promise and I went into this thinking I was going to love this book but unfortunately I was wrong. First, I don't like cheating in a romance book. I was just talking about tropes I don't like on another blog last week and cheating was one of them.

Another thing I disliked was how many times Mila was referred to as fat. I really hated that and it detracted from the story for me. Why is it that full figured heroines are so often looked down on in books?

Another thing was Mila had just been attacked so bad by a bear that she needed stitches but she seemed to be just fine the next day and day after. She was human so there was no speedy healing going on it was all slow, painful, human healing so why wasn't she in more pain the next day? It made no sense.

The rival pack treated their females badly and even put a pregnant female in danger and threatened her life and the life of her unborn child. I disliked that a lot.

I felt that all the abuse, cheating and putting down the heroine because of her weight really detracted from a sweet romance in this story.

Disclosure: I was given an e-ARC of this book via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Anything with werewolves in it, sign me up. I don’t care how good or bad, it’s quite the obsession.

This book was genuinely more then I expect from paranormal romances. There was conflict right from the beginning and lasted throughout the entire book.

I’m excited to see what comes next for the Moonstone pack.

This was ok. I didn't love it.

There were a few plot points you had to just not think about and let slide. I also didn't love how the bad guys kept complaining about how "fat" the character was. I get that it was supposed to make you not like them even more, but it felt unnecessary.

I did like the characters and the build-up for the next book. I will probably read it.

This was a pretty solid, quick read with fairly developed characters and likeable characters, though it did feel a bit rushed. Like the first book of any series, this book moved slowly at first, setting the scene for the rest of the story and developing the characters and setting, but within the first 30 pages or so, became an action packed, slow burn of a story. The premise of the book was good, but it felt like it needed to be about 50 pages longer so that there could be more plot development and everything didn't feel so rushed. This book did set the rest of the series up nicely, leaving the opening for Ryker's story to happen next. Overall, this book was pretty good, but I don't know that I will continue the series.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Steele was a quick, easy-to-read shifter/paranormal romance. I was hoping for a little bit more of a love story, but the fated mates trope did most of the heavy lifting instead of investing in character development.

I had a hard time with many of the conversations around Mila's weight, and wish there had been a trigger warning about that topic. I also get put off when books primarily refer to women as "females," which I've noticed is pretty common in shifter romances, and was definitely the case with Steele.

Overall, I think this was a good introduction to a new series, and a relatively fun, quick, read. 3 stars.

A quick and short read for the beginning of a new series. The book sets up the world in which this series takes place. Two packs are introduced and whew are they different. It's a fated mates, insta-relationship type book. I seemed to be more intrigued by the side characters than the MCs which was ok. It seems like the next book will take place in the other pack and I'll be interested to see where that goes.

I really liked this book (rated it 3.5 stars, not 3, but GR doesn't have half-star options).
I loved the action-packed beginning (and the drama!). Mila finding her fiance with her best friend really hit the mark and then the scene with the bear kept that tension building.
Then there's Steele, the alpha of the Yellowstone pack. He saves Mila from the bear (who still swiped her which made my own arm hurt!). Steele is gorgeous, kind, a great option for a book boyfriend if you ask me.
The chemistry between Steele and Mila was great- I loved reading about them.
So why only 3.5 stars? Well, it would have been a solid four-star rating if it weren't for the scene where the opposing alpha (the villain, if you will) was murdered.
The whole book built up this wanting for Steele to kill him, but that didn't happen.
Once Mila was kidnapped, she was rescued fairly quickly, which is fine, I didn't mind that.
What brought down the rating for me was the battle was over so quickly and then the opposing Alpha's death was maybe a page, more like a paragraph, and it was done by a member of his own pack. I just felt a little disappointed that I couldn't see Steele and his guys tearing that guy apart. Oh well.
This is the first book in what seems will be an interconnected standalones series. The opposing pack isn't done with the Yellowstone pack yet. I will continue reading this series even though Mila and Steele won't be the main characters (sad!). I'm definitely looking forward to the next book!

I really enjoyed this shifter story. Set in Montana, in a small town in Yellowstone National Park. It was a fast read, a lot of drama, betrayal with a lot of tension between a rival pack. The author did a great job building the world and the realism of the shifters Keeping their secret for generation. I can wait for book two. As the tension building between the packs continues, with the steps the Alpha takes to keep control of their territory.

Quick Summary: A shapeshifter romance

My Review: Steele by Margo Bond Collins is book one in a new para-fantasy romance series. It features an alpha lead named Steele Jacobs and a human woman named Mila Wright.

About the Book:

Mila - > This was meant to be the one of the happiest moments in her life. She was getting married tomorrow, after all. Everything changed, however, when she suffered the cruelest betrayal of all. There would be no reconciliation for her and her ex. She couldn't get away from him fast enough. Unfortunately, in getting away from her fiance, she inadvertently placed herself in harm's way. Who would save her from what was surely a sudden death?

Steele - > Being alpha to his pack was no hardship. He cared about his family and would always look after them. Sometimes, if he was being honest, he wanted more. He wanted someone to share his life with. He knew what he could do for the good of his pack, but... Too much was going on for him to dwell on any of that, especially now that a threat was upon his family. Would he ever get a chance to find his mate?

My Final Say: I liked this book. It was a good start to what has the potential to be a solid series. It moved at a slow to moderate pace. It introduced a number of interesting characters. It had minimal conflict, while also laying the groundwork for more. It had a satisfying ending and an enticing hint at what comes next.

I think readers will enjoy meeting the Moonstone pack. They seem to have a lot going for them.

Other: While I liked the book enough to give the next book a chance, I will say that there was one negative reference to the female lead that I genuinely did not care for. It was related to her size. I was incredibly disappointed to see her referred to with such unflattering language at times. With that said, it was refreshing to read about a full figured lead. Right on!

Rating: 3.5/5

Warning: Violence, Abuse, Cheating

This was a great read! It is about a peaceful pack being targeted and attacked by a new pack moving in on their territory. While this is going on a woman ends up finding her fiancé cheating on her with her best friend the night before their wedding. She runs off into the woods and is attacked by a bear but is saved from being killed by a wolf. The wolf is determined to do whatever he can to save her because he knows she is someone very important to him.

This book is a novella about a woman cheated on who wonders into the woods and is rescued by a wolf shifter, who is certain she is his fated mate, even if she is human.

I was obsessed with this book because the FMC is BBW and the MMC still carries her around as if she weighs nothing.

I was a little confused because this book also tells part of the story from the villain's POV. That is the only reason I did not give this book 5 stars.

This was an insta-love, fated mate story of the best kind. Anguish, betrayal, danger, excitement and amazing characters. As Steele's pack fights to keep an evil and corrupt pack leader from taking over in the Yellowstone park, he wrestles with his wolf wanting to claim Mila, a human and the trouble that could bring.
I received this book as an arc from Net Gallery and am voluntarily submitting my review.

Good read, when Steele rescuers a woman from a bear, he can’t help but noticing her scent. It’s a scent that makes him want to roll in it. Mila is getting married. But the night before her wedding she walks in on her best friend and her fiancé in a compromising position. She knows nothing else to do but run!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

A big thank you to NetGalley and Rakuten Kobo/.Kobo Originals for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the first in a new series. This is a short book (novella?) and a very quick read. Insta-love. Steele meets Mila at her worst. He saves her and the relationship takes off from there. 3.5 stars

4⭐️ a fun and quick shifter romance. Slow-burn, fated mates, curvy FMC, a bunch of tropes I love in a shifter romance.
Couple things I missed: I really wanted to see Mila or Steele really give it to her ex fiancé. Especially with how Mila really grew into her stronger herself at the end.
More spice! Just one spicy scene (and there’s an editing issue that really annoying me during that scene. Someone needs to fix that) that was just meh 🫤.
All in all I would recommend this. It’s a great shifter romance for people just starting to get into shifter romances. The rest of the series sounds like it might be really fun to read too!

Steele by Margo Bond Collins is a shifter romance with all your standard shifter tropes and a lot of contemporary fiction/romance ones as well.

Mila is a curvy FML with poor self-worth, and when we meet her, she is getting ready for her wedding day with her best friend and meeting up with her fiance. During this, she makes a lot of self-deprecation thoughts so heads up if this is hard for you. She btw is amazing, and I'm glad that while she suffers, a great blow ends up finding our ML.

Steele, we meet as a contrast to the pack in the prolog (WHICH was very concerning for a second because I thought the Pack and Alpha in the prolog was going to be the ML and was almost an instant put down and not finished because of it, but it's okay he's not.) Steele shows affection and true leadership and shows he's not an alphahole.

This romance felt like a great balance of characters, tropes, story, world-building, and some smut.
