This book is more than a history of humankind's battle with cancer. There is plenty of documentation regarding studies and the strides we have made in treatments. There is exposure to the conflict of interests in our political and economic world. The personal stories throughout put faces on the people who have suffered through cancer diagnosis, treatments, and the physical and emotional toll it takes on everyone involved. What I personally loved the most, was the call to arms; ways and means to add our voices to fight against special interests that continue to put us at risk. As a cancer survivor, I have learned about things that I have been exposed to through cancer treatment. They were aggressive and have changed me. I am so grateful to the people who aided me in recovery, but I cherish the vision of a safer world where prevention is revered.

If the word cancer makes your skin crawl like it does mine, this book will give you some hope that this insidious killer will be down for the count.
