Here we see a lot of monsters prepare themselves for Christmas. An easy read for the early readers, with bright colored and fun monsters they can see and point out, this is a fun book to have on Christmas. The children will also learn about some words, nicely depicted by these monsters, like "peeking", "sneaking", 'spin", "slide" and "glide".

Monsters at Christmas is a vibrant picture book which introduces readers to festive preparations – monster style!

Baking, snuggling in front of the fire, playing in the snow, decorating, shopping, wrapping, skating and a Christmas show are all included in the preparations. One of our favourite spreads shows Roar Monster, Soar Monster, Ring Monster and Cling Monster trying out the sleigh – Santa Monster doesn’t look too happy on this spread!

The illustrations are bold and brightly coloured, they perfectly complement the romping rhyming text. So many different monsters engaged in so many different activities give the child plenty to talk about and there are lots of humorous details from the expressions on the monsters’ faces to the activities that they’re doing.

We also had fun looking for Santa Monster who is hiding in every spread!

Super cute story! My children loved the rhymes and the pictures. So much to see! You'll want to read this one again and again!

Lots to love here!

The rhyming text is bouncy, and trips easily off the tongue. The monsters are ADORABLE, as they go about their busy preparations for the holiday, PLUS there's a Santa Monster to search for on each page. And, I loved that all the colors of the rainbow were used, not just red and green.

As soon as I finished the book, I wanted to read it again, so I can imagine an actual child (or monster) will be demanding plenty o' rereads.

This was my granddaughter's favourite of the Christmas books we read last weekend. She loves monsters and all the ones to look at in the illustrations had her smiling, laughing and sharing her observations. There is very little text which made this a good one for my 4 year old grandson as he also enjoyed the illustrations. I didn't notice, but the kids did, that there was a Santa Monster in each scene (1 on the two page spreads, 1 on each page otherwise). The monsters were all involved in Christmas or Winter activities such as baking, skating, playing in the snow, eating cookies with hot chocolate etc. After we finished reading, the two youngest drew pictures and used craft supplies to make monsters themselves. A fun afternoon activity all motivated by this little storybook. One I recommend to families, schools and pre-school classrooms.

This is my new favorite Christmas book. The story is descriptive, fun, and easy for early readers to read along. The illustrations are magic. They bring me so much joy with their creativity and the way they compliment the words perfectly. Then, to find Santa Monster on every page is the cherry on top.

Wonder wonder book

I let my daughter read this one to me, as the words/phrases were the perfect length for her at her age and at her reading level.

The illustrations were so vibrant and beautiful and the rhyming was literally so perfect!

A very cute and fun bedtime story, perfect for anytime of the year, not just during Christmas time!

A cute book with a nice rhythm and flow. Cute animations that would appeal to any kid who likes monsters. My three-year-old enjoyed the story and had a few chuckles. The end of the book has an activity asking if you can find Santa Monster in every scene. I like how this is placed at the end of the book as searching for Santa Monster gives an activity to immediately go back through the book with your child. A nice book to add to any Christmas collection for children five and under.

Thank you to Quatro Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children’s Books and NetGalley for providing me with a free electronic copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to the publisher along with NetGalley for the eARC! Monsters at Christmas is an adorable story about how the silly monsters celebrate Christmas. The book goes through different Christmas traditions that young readers could relate to. The illustrations are bright and colorful throughout the entire book as well. The added challenge of finding "Santa Monster" on every page is a cute way to have young readers really focus on the pictures. A great addition to the holiday book collection!

This was super cute. Loved the pictures and all the colors. I especially loved at the end it says did you spot the Santa monster on all the scenes? So just when you thought the fun was over, you got to go back and search for him on all the pages! So fun

If you're handling fractious or over-excited toddlers at Christmas time, this book is the perfect way to settle them down while having some fun. And it could be just as effective at other times of the year as well!

The illustrations are really cute, and very creative, and are accompanied by the kind of wordplay that is likely to elicit more than a few giggles from young children.

I like that the book combines some activities for a child - along with the more passive aspect of listening to a story being read out - such as searching for the Christmas Monster.

And of course it does also work quite effectively to de-fang the concept that all Monsters are of the under-the-bed variety! How can anyone resist a Sprinkles Monster who bakes???

“Monsters at Christmas” by Laura Baker and illustration by Nina Dzyvulska is an adorable Christmas picture book that will be perfect for the holidays this year. The easy rhyme will be fun for small children, and the colorful illustrations will keep them interested. For slightly older pre-k kids there is the added fun of a seek and find.

This book was so adorable, I loved everything about it, the illustrations were so well done, they suited the book perfectly, the story was amazing as well, even thought is very short I could really connect with the characters and feel theirs struggles.
I’m sure the kids are going to be just as enthralled with this amazing book as I was.
I will definitely recommend!

Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this early copy

A simple, vibrant, and joyful Christmas read for parents/grandparents and their littlest ones. Full of Christmas cheer and a lovely sing-song rhyming quality in the verse by Laura Baker, well accompanied and boosted by vivid illustrations by Nina Dzyvulska that are full of fun and colour and plenty of wee details to discover and enjoy on a re-read/re-look. It all builds up well to a nice finish, with a wee twist to make it even more fun for little ones to want to immediately enjoy again. A really lovely wee picture book that'd be a great festive gift.
