I was excited at the concept of this book, but the execution seemed to fall short. As both an elementary educator and a parent of an autistic child, I had hoped for more of an educator’s guide, and this was… not that. It seems to almost be written as a workbook for children to read/do themselves, but the activities and vocabulary are all over the place in terms of reading level/content. I’m recommending it, as it’s something that’s so very needed in schools right now, but I would love to see something with more specific activities and instructional guides

Got this as an ARC from NetGalley.
As a child therapist, I enjoyed the graphics in this book and the simple, easy way each activity was laid out for parents. It was colorful and I could see my clients being excited by the pictures and activities. Most of the activities in this book are likely things a therapist has utilized before, but this is perfect for one who is starting out in the field or for caregivers needing some guidance.

If you have a child who is autistic and you need some activities for them, please get this book. As a teacher and a mother, I personally love the activities that come with this book and how it breaks down SEL (social-emotional learning) The activities are wonderful and it is a great way to set up conversations with your child about their emotions.

Holy man, where was this book when I was a kid?! This gave practical tips and built on skills throughout the entire book, which is great and I feel like not many workbooks do.
