I was keen to jump into Sara Nisha Adams' latest, The Twilight Garden, after enjoying her debut, The Reading List, in 2021. The whole concept of reviving a neglected London community garden with a mix of historical and present-day storylines had me intrigued. However, it ended up being just okay. It's a nice, easy read to pass the time, but didn't really stir up any strong feelings for me.

The characters, despite their ties to the garden, didn't quite resonate with me, and the slow pace had me setting the book down more than once. Personally, I think it could've been a lot shorter and maybe better for it. Despite the high hopes from Adams' first book, The Twilight Garden left me wanting a bit more depth and connection.

Thank you NetGalley for the eArc copy of this book.

I have seen the cover around online and was completely captured by its beauty.

I had an absolute pleasure reading this, page by page, word by word. Completely devoured it in one sitting.

Highly recommended- feel good vibes and feeling of connectedness!

This book is all the simple, wonderful feelings about life wrapped into one story. Its the feeling of fresh sheets on a rainy Sunday night, a cup of tea you forgot about but discovering its still hot enough to enjoy, its a warm, candlelit bath after a long day.

This story follows the tale of a community garden that brings people together over decades and the lives of the people who take care of it.

As a fantasy reader primarily this book bought me crashing back down to the real world. It is beautifully written and transports you immediately to a place all of us have had happy memories in our lives, the backyard of all our childhoods whether it be yours, a friends or a grandparent. I loved the characters, I cried when they cried and I felt every emotion they did as I sat and enjoyed a simple life with them. I felt this book is best enjoyed in small portions so I read it a lot slower than usual. It was comforting at the end of the night to read rather than a book you swallow whole and devour.

This is a beautiful book about life, love and community.
