This series was my first foray into the LitRPG genre, which I was interested in exploring as a player of RPG games. This story was fast-paced, and I liked all of the characters, although most of the action took place inside a full-immersion, online RPG and I found myself wondering too much about what was happening IRL in the character's world. (Why hadn't his wife left him for spending so much time in a game??) But I played the audiobooks on a roadtrip with my middle schooler, and he thought the series was FANTASTIC. I think this just maybe isn't my genre, but the storytelling and game mechanics were really good so I'm giving it high marks. I did start to tune out parts of the story somewhere in this second book, but my son remained riveted.

Following on from The Starlight Sword, this book covers Oleg- Username Hotcat's adventures in the VR game Sphere of Worlds with his new epic weapon. I would definitely recommend listening to the previous books to understand this one. Even so I was a little lost in places and found it somewhat meandering and overlong, there are a lot of characters and to me it seems like a lot of side quests rather than concentrating on one big adventure with a build up, which I would have preferred. I also felt the ending was quite abrupt.
Nevertheless an entertaining listen, but I am not sure I will continue with the series. It's very niche and I am sure it would be a great fit for certain gamers etc.
The narrator was great again and did a good job conveying the story.
